Emerson Royal doesn't look like a footballer especially a centre back but he has done a great out of position job as a fill in stopper. Full marks to him. I can't help but like the lad. He will do whatever the boss asks him to do with a smile on his face. The sort of character you want in your dressing room.
I totally agree with you. Under Ange, he has played Left Back, Right Back, Central Defence and even the Right side of the midfield. I would keep a player like that in my squad 100 %.
He never complains and plays with passion for the badge.

We need Emerson at least till the end of the season. Good squad player. Versatile.

Players aren't objects with no thoughts or choice.
Nobody but Nobody helps celebrate their teammates goals harder than Emerson Royal. It's like he gets a bonus payment if he's the first teammate to hug a teammate after they score a goal. This bonus is regardless of whether Emerson has anything to do with the goal or what part of the field it's scored from, Emerson will be the first player there.
If for no other reason this is why Emerson Royal is priceless.
When he is on the bench, he displays exuberant celebrations when we score or a player produces a stunning piece of defending.

Totally agree about Emerson Royal. He's the perfect example of an Ange player. A great character, hard worker, and versatile player. He's rarely injured, has great strength and stamina and athleticism. Unless an offer closer to £50m comes in I wouldn't even consider it.
Royal should stay unless Saudi offers a silly amount of money for him and to him. Something north of 50 million. With his wages quadrupling. But Royal is the right character for Tottenham and is a servant of the club and team.
Royal is the equivalent to Ben Davies but on the right. He’s always a solid 6/7. I would keep him.

With injuries Royal can play full back left or right ..we have 2 players Ben and Royal substitute for anything in back just keep them they are decent squad players
totally agreemnt with Sean.. Chicken royal is a variety bucket and is finger lickin good :D He has done really well and is definately worth more than £20m .. He has scored as many goals has Johnson and performed well defensively across the back three - fact is that Ange preferred him to dier - say many things -
I’ve defended royal since the early days when he wasn’t doing too well and people wanted him gone. He was always good, but he was fitting in, making a few mistakes and playing in some bad teams under conte. Glad he’s finally doing well, knew he was solid, good but not great. These last few months have shown his ability and use to this team. Wouldn’t have sold him then and I wouldn’t now either. He’s played rb, cb, and a bit of midfield as well as chipping in with a couple of goals.

Emerson’s tireless dedication creates a $10MM valuation bump to the performance of every single Spurs player selected in front of him. I wouldn’t sell him for $50MM based on that NPV alone.

Szymanski was loaned to Feyenoord and was quite good there playing for our former managerial target, Arne Slot. Helped them win the league last season. I think he could adapt to Angeball if the links materialise.

Hi Sean, what happened to your nose mate? Being of Polish descent I was wondering the other day how many Polish players Spurs had signed. I can only recall one Grzegorz Rasiak. There is also a Polish player in the women's squad who is on loan this season Nikola Karczweska. You pronounce Szymanski more or less as Shimanski. Ive seen him playing for Poland and he's OK but nothing outstanding. Interesting that Emerson is not for sale right now. I guess he's useful for now given our injuries. He's also improved a lot!
Have belonged to a couple of spurs forums over the years and one pre season we all contributed to a subject called "Transfer Balls " a lot of us put down all the names of players rumoured to be joining spurs - most came from newspaper gossip etc etc - by the time the window closed we counted up to nearly 200 names linked with a move to spurs - only 2 actually came to spurs.
The point is not to take rumours too seriously .
Emerson Royal is a great back up and is happy doing this role. We should keep him
100%. We shouldn't be looking at selling him until we already have a young right back in who is close to his level. No chance we'll be able to buy somebody at £20m that is close to Emerson's quality, especially considering his versatility and his attitude.

I like Emerson Royal. He has done a good job covering for us this season and he has a great attitude towards football and the squad. That said players have a value. If the bid came in 30 mil plus then I would accept it purely because I do think you can get someone that works better in this system as back up to Porro for that fee upwards. And an extra 30+ mil for the summer even if not used in the January window could pay for half the Giminez fee for example. We will see what happens though
Sean, do you think Since Sonny is getting older, Daniel Levy will want us to buy another South Korean Star in the near future? Surely, because he would not want to lose the revenue from that side of the fanbase when Sonny does retire one day?
I would love Hwang coming to us next season, on the left wing while Son plays striker, their linkup will be fire. Also Hiroki Ito is a great CB i would love to get too.

Royal is worth at least 35m. Plus, I dont eveb think we should sell him then. He has done great and is our go-to 2nd choice LB-RB.
Don't be too sentimental with these players. Sell them when we get good offer. Being too sentimental is being Spursy.

I agree with you regarding Royal. He's not going to achieve star status but he's a very versatile and useful asset to the current squad. I'm quite sure both his attitude and personality blend in perfectly with the Postecoglou ethos. I would keep him until the Summer at least.
Your take on Emerson is bang on. There's absolutely no point selling him at a loss when he's so clesrly a better player now.
He's got a top tier mindset, good close control of the ball, good defending and shown he can play across the back 4 this sesson. Very useful player and worth way more than £25m in this market.
When we purchased royal, Barca got him a few months prior for 7m. That was closer to his true valuation than the 30 we paid.

@@Boxinghotspur57he's easily a £30m in this market... Plays across the back 4, doesn't look too bad stepping into that deep midfield area and played a solid part in our UCL qualification a couple years ago 🤷♂️
Literally all he can't do is cross the ball very well or attack with a particular flair and people hammer him for it 😂

I still don't even think it's worth selling him for £30m with our defensive limits. We need to be adding players, not selling a player that is currently our 2nd RB/LB and 3rd CB.
For £20 million we'd have to be pretty creative to find the replacement(s) at the same value and I don't think it's worth the trouble.
It can be easy to make a mistake about a player who plays outside of the prem league.
As a pole who has been following him from his time in Legia I’m not convinced. Great player on the ball but maybe La Liga or Ligue 1 would suit him better

Emerson is a key squad player. He will get more game time next season. My challenge with selling him is who do you replace him with and it being an upgrade and netting off financially? You don't need to punt on youth all the time.
