I recently purchased this firearm and I love it Accurate, soft shooter, and easy to rack. And its a good looking gun. For those who say 380 is a weak round, no one will willing stand in front of it.
Gents, posing as a question. I’m still trying to understand. Been brought up that big heavy guns reduce recoil/ muzzle flip. Seems to be a trend now that actually a lighter slide is better for this? Less mass to reciprocate? Just chatting with like minded people over a cup of coffee. I have this pistol but haven’t shot it yet. Take care
Had problems with shooting the cheap ammo didn't want to eject and sometimes didn't want to chamber the rounds but on the good ammo it didn't have a problem.
This pistol is the exact same size as a Glock 43X, which also holds 10 rounds with the magazine from Glock, or 15 with aftermarket magazines. I mention this because I had a 43X and could not shoot it accurately (9 mm). I bought this Ruger Security 380 and am MUCH more accurate with it at all distances, with a lot less recoil, plus easy racking and great sights. Also about 60% of the price of a glock 43X. So far I have fired 50+ rounds of several brands of range and carry ammo, without a hiccup. I also have a Ruger LCP Max (380), with 10 and 12 round magazines, which is very snappy to shoot and hard to be accurate. This gun is much easier to shoot well, and more fun to shoot, but yes quite a bit larger if indeed your plan is utilizing this as a concealed carry pistol. But having confidence in your arms is also key. This gun is a toss up with a S&W Shield 380 EZ as far as shootability and accuracy (ie both excellent choices). I have fired both about the same amount, the S&W is only 8 rounds but single stack so the grip is slimmer, but that pistol overall is about 1/4" longer than this one. But also easy to shoot well plus easier to load the magazine... so if this Ruger Security 380 piques your interest, try the S&W and pick which one you like / shoot best.
I own the Bodyguard 380 and this Ruger Security 380. I purchased this gun this week. Fired for the first time yesterday. This Ruger is a pleasure. The Bodyguard is easier to conceal, but the Ruger is 10 shot, easy to rack, very little recoil. Not tedious on my hand. Plus this Ruger is about $100 less then my Bodyguard which I only bought a year ago. It also came with 3 - 10 round magazines (state compliance). Great value, great quality and reliability.
I've had mine for almost a year & love it. I DO think the mags are hard to load, the followers rock a lot. But being I wont be reloading under stress or in a hurry its great for CCW.
I got one as soon as I saw it for sale at my Gun shop and I love how it handles, shot placement is great and very low recoil. It is now my number 1 EDC pistol 🔫 you won't be sorry you bought it.
So as a first time gun owner who wants a compact, home defense gun that's fun to shoot would you recommend this gun or the Canik METE mc9, or Smith and Wesson Equalizer?
I love the Canik and the Ruger. Either is a great choice…. Just load up on some mags for the 380. I’ve shot the Equalizer some…. It’s good. But, I’d have to go with what I have the most experience with right now.
I guess I don't see the point of this gun vs the lcp maxx. It's as big as a g19 and has a rail, why? Who would use this over a full sized gun for home defense? The maxx fits in any pocket and disappears. It's for deep concealment with light clothing. If you're going to have a gun the size of a g19 why not just get a g19 and have the benefits of 9mm's power over the 380.
The security 380 is designed for shooters who are sensitive to recoil, and have a hard time racking a slide. If it isn’t your cup of tea, that’s cool. For people with arthritis, it is a viable alternative to a 9mm. As to why instead of an LCP Max? It’s easier to shoot accurately IMHO, but your mileage may vary.

I have this gun and it’s a wonderful gun. It’s been accurate for me at the range and I keep a flashlight mounted on it for home defense.
What weapon light did you install on yours?
And what holster fits it with a WML?
I have a plight balder mini on mine. I can’t find a holster that fits with that light so I just have the light on it when at home for home defense.
The slide porting will NOT mitigate recoil because the barrel is NOT portef. The porting is to reduce weight ONLY.
Yes, and apologize for misuse of wording… Ident a couple more videos. It was working with different firearms throughout the day and I misspoke.

Lo0ve this pistol and so does thw wifee. 100% reliable, easy to rack and accurate as well as reasonably priced.

I just bought this gun, had a lot of light primer strikes with certain ammo, other than that is was very accurate.

I use an o light balder mini. Fits well for home defense use.
Awesome weapon
I had problems with fiocchi ammo in mine everything else I shot ran fine

I bought one for my wife and after I shot hers, I went and got one for myself. I think its fun to shoot.

the more I see this Ruger Security 380 the more I want one ...

I feel the same way. I wonder how Underwood solid copper runs through it.
Did u get one yet
Underwood Xtreme, Lehigh Xtreme, Gorilla Silverback. Has made 380acp equal to 9mm.
I saw another TH-camr say, the reason you have a 10 round magazine, is to be compliant in states with laws limiting the magazines to 10 rounds.
That is correct ✅
In those states (where required) it includes two 10 round magazines vs a 10 + a 15.
Just bought this gun. Mine did come with two 15 round magazines. Even said this on the box so it wasn't a mistake.
Yes, For some reason the ones coming in the store since late fall of last year have been shipping with 2 15rd magazines.
Exactly hand problems it's great for people who are disabled
Being hammer fired, is it DA/SA? If fired there is a light primer strike and does not go off, can the trigger be pulled again immediately in DA mode?

Definitely the Ruger security 380
If you’re trying to conceal it go with the mc9. Home defense smith!
Jump scare warning at 6:07 😃
The only thing above was the camera and ceiling.
Not a problem.
No optics cut. Slide too heavy with a dot?
Precision engineering has a mounting plate for an optic
@@Pugsley_addams7: I found a vid with a Galloway Precision plate mounted to the Security 380. Galloway has a channel also. Thanks for the tip.
thanks for the review...think i will get for the wife
Glock 42 💪

If I’m using a 380 it’s gonna be a pocket rocket..lcp max style
Agree 100%
Kel tec p3at🔥💯 point blank n personal 😂
$10 for 10 rounds is ridiculous.
Yes, it is laughable. I don't think I would ever visit this store. NO SALE.
Too big for a .380, which most people buy for deep concealment.
The size is obsolete what a waste
How can a gun size become obsolete?
So don’t buy one.
