Hi, I have e91 and want to update my bmw with cruise control Installed all unit from e90, but after that my rear wiper dont work because e90 dont have it (we missed/forget this info) Is it posibble to change only wiper switch from my old e91? Should it work? Thanks
Hi, Usually, it won’t work just by changing only the wiper switch. Whether the rear wiper function is supported is determined by the MCU on the switch combination, or its configuration stored in the EEPROM. Additionally, attempting to change the switch can easily damage the flexible printed circuit (FPC). I recommend getting a compatible switch combination or finding one with the same part number as your original.
The error code that appeared was related to the rain sensor not working, which could have resulted in the windshield wipers not functioning properly or the windshield washer not spraying water. After replacing the windshield wiper switch, which could be connected to the rain sensor operation, the error code disappeared. A6D3: PUMP WASH WATER FRONT 9518: 9518 - Windscreen wiper switch (SWS) (all momentary switches) - mechanically defective, contact. A670: Error fitting sensor 0xA670
@@taoli1239 interesting…. I have code 9518: Steering Column Switch Cluster; windshield wiper switch (SWS): All switches stick, mechanical error…… The issue I have is that the wipers will not function properly. The run continuously. So the fuse has to be removed in order to kill power. After I seen your video, it made me wonder if the issue is not the motor being faulty, but rather the switch internally that’s on the steering column. Any thoughts? And thanks. 🙏
@@rickramm3816 It's always a good idea to perform a thorough inspection of all relevant components, including the rain sensor and washer system, before proceeding with any repairs or replacements. This will help ensure that the root cause of the issue is accurately identified and resolved, saving you time and effort in the long run. If you suspect that the issue with your windshield wipers is related to the steering column switch cluster or windshield wiper switch, it's a good idea to try some basic troubleshooting steps before considering replacement: Clean the switch, Update software (if applicable), or Check for loose connections. You can try to fix the issue with your windshield wiper before considering replacement.
I'm not sure if changing the windshield wiper stalk would fix the problem, it's quite likely. It's tough to find the right one for my sedan. I came across a windshield wiper stalk for a wagon, but it had a rear wiper, which my car doesn't have. After trying to install it, it wasn't compatible. I found on eBay that the used Stalk and Steering Combination Switch are priced similarly. So, I swapped out the Steering Combination Switch, and the issue is resolved. No problems since then. Please note: A steering angle sensor calibration is required after installation in order to initialize the sensor as well as reset the ABS/DSC system

What we’re the codes or symptoms prior to replacement?

Is it programmed after installation via ista?
After replacement, you'll need to register and calibrate the sensor.
Do you get ant faults later?
