I gotta be honest, you've definitely helped inspire me to try my own. While I am taking a different approach, I have enjoyed your tutorials. Thanks for the help!
A couple of big mirrors can be had and positioned to reflect the sun's light onto the grapes in 1:47. Thereby assuring the grapes vines get adequate sunlight. :D

3 Years late update for Northern growers, but they're $10.63 at Home Depot. I'm looking for a cheaper source, but I honestly don't stand to save a whole lot of money, since I'll only use these for the high-tension parts of the training system. I just got my end-posts in and am getting ready to buy the rest of the supplies so that I can tension everything in the early spring, around the time I'll do my pruning. I'm going with Modified Munson training, probably inline strainers to tension the main high-tension wires and hopefully be able to loosen them, springs on those, and then for the catch wires, I'll use a chain and a nail to manually take the slack out or loosen them for repositioning. (I think I read that last part on an article Dr. Zabadal wrote or co-authored) And will use cane pruning, on Concord.
Hi Tom, I have three vines that were planted in my backyard before I moved here. two are at either side of the yard and one in the corner of the fence in the back but the one I think is in a good sunny spot is the corner one. the problem is it has grown directly behind the fence and so have the other two but those are kind of in a shady spot but the one one the same side I might can work with If I cut the down the trees around it. I need to know is their a corner system I can build for the corner vine and how to reroute it from behind the chainlink fence. Im wondering if I coul just prune it all back and reroute without killing the vine and hopefully have grapes this year. they grow every year but the fruit never mature. please help! Thanks!
My research studies said that in a perfect world you want North/South to maximize sun on both sides. BUT, you gotta make it fit the land. I have an E/W orientation that is twice the length of the N/S orientation, and it gets good sun. So that's how I ran them. Vineyards around here seem to mix/match according to the land, with some doing both in the same vineyard based on topography (hills, etc.). Row spacing is more an issue, I think. I went 8 foot and plan for a 6 foot trellis. I have five rows, and not all are grapes. We have other berries. It's a homestead, not a vineyard. Sun is not an issue in our zone, but I have some tree shading in the afternoon. Hope our normally brutally hot sun in summer makes up for the partial shading on the last 1/4 of some rows.
Well made series. Thanks, Tom!
I discovered an awesome compilation of videos that may help on Grape grower folio
Thanx Tom, very helpful.

I'm pretty sure that this is actually "Grape Video #43" (0:17), not "Grape Video #46".
The one thing NO ONE talks about is the ORIENTATION of the rows. Should they run north-south or east-west?????
