That's basically a tandem axle trailer. Unusual for a bike trailer, but not impossible to implement correctly. That camper should have a torsion axle (scaled down to bike trailer size, obviously) to relieve stress from the axle and wheels especially when taking corners. Of course, the trailer should be designed so that it doesn't break that quickly and easily even without a torsion axle, or just make it a single axle instead.
The bushings looked like they were sintered bronze that was done really poorly. The entire lip broke off and the entire unit was then unusable. I was horribly disappointed because it is an awesome concept and the tent-cot was very comfortable for sleeping in!! I took a 45 mile ride with the second trailer and slept in it at a state park as a test. Unfortunately I never got to use it on a long distance tour ride.
I am also a biker. I've seriously considered buying a normal Kamp-Rite double tent cot and modifying the cheap In-Step Take 2 trailer into a cargo hauler instead of a kid trailer since I'm not pulling kids anymore. I fell in love with the concept of the one you're showing here but it looks like I'm still on my previous train of thought.
You're right. More than enough used child hauling bike trailers available for cheap. May as well mod one of those. I wouldn't even care if the tent cot needed to come off the trailer to be used. Carry that, my clothes, some water and snacky-food and I'm good for multi-day touring.
Hello Steven, Looks like they quit building the trailer! Have ever tried to fix the problem on the trailer? I would love to have one to see what modification I could make to make the trailer travel worthy.
Hmm, it looks like the mount for the two wheel bogey assembly have come loose or broken. To me if an axle actually broke a wheel would be laying on the ground with snapped metal where the hub used to be.
@Partok81 Please watch part 2 of the Bushtrekka video for details of the broken axle assembly and poor quality control in manufacture of the axels themselves. This was true about both of the Bushtrekka trailers I owned.
Hi Thanks for leting me no I was going to buy one but not know you are not the only one that has had this problem, so looks like what you say great idea but crap billed,

I want to buy one where do I buy one
I totally loved my Bushtrekka until the bushings broke and my wife had to pick me up about 50 miles from home!
that's why you disassemble it when it breaks and replace broken parts with much stronger ones

Me too! Such a great concept!

KampRite needs to work on improving their tent cot before they start thinking about bike trailers.
Casey Jones, please watch part 2 for complete information.

thanks for posting!
Cool idea. Too bad they couldn't manufacture it.
