This is the first video that contains the shift I've made in my channel beginning in 2024. The content will not be about decluttering, organizing, and living a joyful, peaceful, simple life with less stress. (It is not about minimalism.) You'll see hacks and even some home projects. I hope it will be inspirational to you and that you'll decide to come join me in the journey to live better lives. I appreciate you being here and would love to know what you think. What are you struggling with that you'd like to change in 2024?
Hello Rozanne, I am new to your channel and I can relate to most everything that you have or had going on. I’m in my late 70s I have some physical limitations in terms of mobility and energy, I had and adult child and a grandchild living with us, and I was constantly picking up, straightening up and declutterring! And here’s what I learned: 1.Everyone is dealing with some sort of challenge in their life. 2. What works for me may not work for you… so you do you. 3. God plants us where we bloom; but we have to pull the weeds. Everything takes me longer to do so I plan accordingly, I go with the flow and embrace change instead of fighting it. And I mind my own business and keep the peace. Any frustrations I bring to the Lord… HE’s way smarter than I am!
Hi Kathleen. We do have a lot in common! It’s great to talk to someone that has an adult child and grandchild living with them. I love all of your advice!
I know someone who simply takes a trash bag and covers up her little tree - still decorated - and hauls it to the basement. Then she takes it out at Christmas, takes the bag off and wallah! Instant decorated tree. There are pros & cons about that. But I do like how she streamlines some things. .... I super-like your one bag at a time approach to de-cluttering. Thank you!!
Wouldn’t that make things simpler? One part of me would like to do that. The other part of me enjoys decorating the trees because and loves changing them up by mixing up the supplies. I certainly don’t need to buy anymore supplies! Thanks for watching and saying hello!
I love the new name of your channel Rozanne. I already put donate bags in the car! No matter how small. I’m getting over a horrible flu virus and doing what I call pottering around the house. I tend not to declutter very much any more. I made the mistake of getting rid of some things I regret now. I’m not minimalist and go for warmth, cosy but tidy. I’m so glad you are feeling content with family, your garden, etc. Sending you best wishes for the New Year, ❤
Thanks, Linda! I'm really happy about the change. I needed to change and shifting the content is going to help me. I'm hoping it will help others, too. I'm so sorry you had the flu. My daughter got it and has ended up with pneumonia. The flu is no joke! I'm always worried about regretting some things, so I think my slower plan is going to work for me. Warm, cosy and tidy sounds perfect! See you!
Found it!! 🙌 This is gonna be awesome and you can count me in! I'm no minimalist either but simplicity sounds like something I can pursue. At the end of the month we're going to Indiana to look around. Not buy houses yet, but get a feel for the area (as well as a feel for the weather... It's been 6 degrees below zero!! 🥶). A cross-country move is an excellent time to simplify and start over!! Thanks for taking us along on this journey! It may be tough, but worthwhile things usually are. Hugs, MK 🤗❤️🌵❤️🤗
Thanks so much. It made me really happy to read what you see. No, I wasn't an English teacher, but I was a teacher (music) and then a corporate trainer and then my last job involved a lot of training people. I also love to write, so it worked out okay. See you!
New subscriber here …… I love and agree with your thoughts about life and our homes . Also , your home is gorgeous ! I look forward to watching your other videos . I find your videos to be very calming , which is lovely ! Take care !
Welcome!! I’m so glad you found my channel. It’s great to hear from you! It was kind of you to say hello to me. It means a lot to me that you took a few moments to make a comment on the video. Have a great rest of your week. 😀
I very much enjoy watching you. I have very similar problems. My son passed away and my grandson has tried to commit subside because of it. I sit many days just Bru ding . Trying to do something feeling lost and hopeless. You words are helping me. Thank you
Rozanne, I think this is a great journey and it’s inspiring me to do some decluttering of my own. I won’t ever be a minimalist but I definitely can get rid of some clutter and unnecessary items. Love your videos and excited to see where this takes you❤
Thanks Dusti! I don't think it's possible for me to be a minimalist (last year's neutral palette made me sad), but the clutter and junk has to go. Hope you have a great New Year!
Hola. All of my drawers, closets & cabinets are messy. I definitely need to declutter them. It's sad that TH-camrs get criticized for doing things their own way. I had a person who doesn't cook tell me I had too many seasonings on my food. I said, "I'm really glad u don't have to eat it." 😂 Self discovery & growth is sooo needed. I didn't learn that until my 40s. It seemed like life just clicked. I'm glad ur picking up those hobbies. It does make life more fulfilling. TFS I hope u have an amazing week
I like to cook and bake from scratch. I have a fairly extensive collection of things in my spice cabinet, but I do tend to keep things simple. (Meaning most of what I make has ten or less ingredients, sometimes upwards of 15 if it calls for many spices or a whole bunch of vegetables or something.) A very dear friend of mine, who also cooks and bakes, has an even bigger one, but half of it is premixed jars, packets, etc. I simply do not see the point in all that wasted money and space when she could just mix and match the single herbs n spices as she goes. (And, no, time is not the issue. She is not married, does not have children, nor does she work or have time-consuming hobbies. She rarely leaves the house. So the excuse of saving time is out.) Same goes for condiments. She has two entire fridge doors packed full of them, plus half a shelf in the fridge. Mine all fit in half of one fridge door. And then there's all the flours. I keep three types on hand, she keeps at least five. Now, I don't care how people want to cook. Go ahead and spend all that money, have a million things to take out and put away, refill, etc. Be my guest. I don't care. Have at it. Your life, your kitchen, etc. What bothers me is the complaining about it all. The dreading of the cooking and cleaning up because of the angst of not having enough room to fit it all. And even when there's room to squeeze in one more jar or bottle, you have to move half of it to get to what you need. To me, it's excessive and a nuisance to go through all of that when it's just not necessary. You can cook a (healthy!) delicious meal without 500 ingredients and a headache. Then you have people like my MIL, who hardly ever cooks and only has salt, pepper, onion powder, and Lawry's. And that's fine. Her kitchen. She's happy.
@TowardsASimpleLife Haha in that part of my life, anyway, yes. I've been enjoying watching you these past few weeks or months or however long it's been now. I love your style and your demeanor. Best wishes to you in the New Year 😊
Hi Rozanne! I almost didn’t watch this because I didn’t recognize new channel name, love it! I have lots of throw too even living in Florida. I use them all. I have some in baskets rolled up and nicely displayed in different rooms throughout the house. Oh the garage saga!! We have that problem here too. Although finally making headway recently since hubby retired and is helping me. It was slow going by myself that I started (again) beginning of last year. Then our son moved back home in September 2022 and that filled up the garage even more. I will continue to work on it in the new year.
Hi Michelle! It's so great to see you. Yeah... I made a big switch. I just couldn't going in the same way and when I came up with this, it felt like a big load had been lifted off of my shoulders. I'm excited again. Throws are great. It gets cold here and so we need them. I often pile a couple on me when I'm watching TV. The garage! Oh my... it is really something. I'll do it though. I will! See you. :-)
Hey back at you, Kathy! It's going to be a long process, but I'm excited to finally be doing it. So glad you're here! Have a wonderful New Year. Wishing you all the best and more. :-)
Hi Rozanne, I have just started watching your channel, your voice is very relaxing 😊 I agree with you that I love having art on the walls and my home to be homely but shabby chic tidy vibe, I have declutted a lot of stuff over the year, although I think it's good to be neat and tidy as it's good for mental health, the things I have around me mean a lot and makes me happy! 💕💕
Hi Caroline! I'm so glad you found my channel. It sounds like we have a lot in common. Last year, I tried being more "neutral' in my home and then adding color with pillows and things. Everything looked so off and I didn't realize it. It wasn't until Christmas when I added certain things to the living room, fixed a problem in the family room, and got my new rugs and added art that I really love (got it from Etsy and printed it out at Walgreens) that the house really started to feel like home to me - and we have lived here since 2008. Now, I feel like I can tidy and declutter without worrying that I am going to strip it down to where it doesn't feel like me anymore, you know? The clutter has really got to me, so I'm excited to be on this journey. I'm so glad you're here with me!
Absolutely beautiful video dear friend. Thank you so much for the sweet advice and inspiration to declutter our home and garage. Your videos are so uplifting and inspiring your friendship means the world to me. Hope you have a great day. I am going to do what you said I am going to get off my hiny and start doing some decluttering. 💖
Hi Rozanne and Happy New Year! Wonderful video full of motivation and encouragement! It is so freeing to let go of things. Mentally as much as physically. Thank you so much for sharing. I wish you much success in 2024 my sweet friend. XO ❤
Hi Lesa! I'm always so happy to see you. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It is so freeing. It's time for me to do it and even the small amount I've let go and the rooms I'm simplifying are bringing a sense if peace to me. I'm looking forward to sharing it with others. I hope it helps. I hope all is well with you!
HA! I knew I wasn't the only one with multiple sets of measuring cups and spoons!!! I have three sets of each. I could probably get rid of one of them but they all fit just fine in the basket I have to contain them, it's "get-to-able" (as Dana K White calls it), and I use it ALL on a regular basis.
I adore you, Rozanne! ! You seem so patient and kind, well spoken and a willingness to be vulnerable. Thank you! I love listening to you. Your voice is very calming for me. I do consider myself a minimalist only because I am extremely introverted and a highly sensitive person. I need lots of downtime alone and very little visual distraction. I am married (21 yrs) to an incredible supportive man and have 2 girls (1 in college and the other a junior in HS). I used to be a Special Education teacher. That role was very fitting for me bc it was self contained and my students could not have items on the wall or items out that would be distracting. THIS was when I really started to figure myself out. Even though it was an extremely stressful job, I thrived. I came home to a tidy and organized environment bc that's what I knew I needed to continue on in that career. Anyway, fast forward to today, Id like to believe that my "minimal" nature and self discovery, has helped my family to live a calm, stress-less, successful life (in school and work). I am SO excited for you to be on this journey no matter where it takes you. I'm here to be supportive subscriber. In 2024, my goal is to gain more time. Do only what I consider necessary. I do have lofty goals (like write a book and start a YT channel ) but I can't do that until I can dig deep and let go of things that don't matter. That is very hard for me. Everything is important. XO Leslie
You are so kind and supportive of me, Leslie. I really appreciate it. All I can do it be myself and try to be helpful to others. That is really going to be my focus in the future - trying to be helpful. It sounds like we have a lot in common. I'm an introvert too (although I can act like an Extrovert when I have to), and I've been told I'm sensitive many times. My grandmother was sensitive too and she was wonderful, so I guess it's okay. All three of my boys went through Special Ed classes (couldn't have done it without them(, so you're my hero! I'm excited about this journey, too. I'm already feeling calmer, just having made the decision. I'm so glad you're here!
Hey Rozanne, I hope you had a nice Christmas with your Family and I loved the video, great job! I too have declutter this past Spring while I was unpacking boxes when we moved into our new home, but plan on doing it again before spring gets here. Have a great and safe New Year’s and take care.
Hi Kathy! Happy New Year to you! Decluttering while unpacking was such a good move. It can be too easy to just shove things in corners and closets. I'm afraid I did some of that when I moved here. Now I'm finally going to go through it. See you soon!
Nice to hear from you! I took any of the quilts that were decent to the thrift store. A couple were so torn up that they couldn’t have even been used by pets, so I disposed of them. Yes, it took some courage. 😀

Your home is a Hallmark wonderland with the Christmas decor. I love it!
Oh thank you! I really had a lot of fun decorating for Christmas last year. :-)

A move is a perfect time to simplify. I hope you find the perfect spot to be in Indiana. You deserve it!!
This is an awesome video. I don't want to be a minimalist but do want to declutter and organize. Love your process.
I'm so glad that you enjoyed it! It's great that you found the video. :-)
Same here! Ex-nay on the minimalism but heck yes to getting rid of stuff we don't need and getting it better organized.
@katie7748 👍👍👍
Love your relaxing voice and all the information you share too!!!! Were you an English teacher? Your words really flow well!

New subscriber today. Came across this video and it just resonated in me. Moving toward a simpler life (for me) in 2024. Happy New Year!!!

So weird about the seasonings. It sounds like they wouldn’t like my kitchen. I have tons of seasonings. I think your food looks good!

Hi Lisa! So nice to meet you. Hope you have a great day.

Thanks!
PLEASE TELL ME WHERE YOU PURCHASED THE BOXES TO SORT YOUR PUZZLE PIECES INTI THAT STACKED ON YOUR TABLE??!!!
I bought them from Amazon. Here's the link: amzn.to/3DOXv0b
I just found you and an enjoying your videos. What did you end up doing with the quilts you decluttered? I know that took some courage
Nice to hear from you! I took any of the quilts that were decent to the thrift store. A couple were so torn up that they couldn’t have even been used by pets, so I disposed of them. Yes, it took some courage. 😀
If you are not using an item for more than a year I listened to what my son told me and my mom give to someone who will and donate it
That's good advice. You've got a smart son. :-)

Happy New Year Sonia!
