The build looks amazing! I was a bit surprised to see you focus on thermals so much but choosing a case with a psu shroud. As far as I know the shroud makes it harder to get fresh air to the GPU and in the front you don't have a fan directly pointed towards the underside of the GPU where it takes in air. Does the GPU suck from the back of the case with the current configuration? Not that it would matter much because it seems like you're hitting all targets you've wanted to hit but when thermals are a main priority it doesn't seem optimal? I'd be interested to see what would happen if you run benchmarks with and without the side panel. My theory is gpu temperatures would improve a lot! I'm not quite sure how much GPU heat kicks up to the CPU. Probably not enough to make a difference if CPU and not overal cooling was the main priority.
Excellent build. I think you should mention that that a big part of your low temps are achieved by the massive vrm heat sinks on your Unify motherboard 🙌🏼🙌🏼🦾

Nice build, thanks for the very informative video, this is what I like to see on videos, after many many years of trying AMD stuff, my preference is Intel, their CPUs run cooler hence less heat and noise emanating from your pc. It is what I have run on my PCs for decades. Sorry but AMD chips run hot and takes a lot of cooling to keep the PC quiet during high workloads, try Cybepunk 2077 on an AMD cpu with an RTX gpu and your temps will soar. Compared to the Intel systems I have there is no comparison. Just my two and a half cents and is tax time here in America, so the IRS will get 1 1/2 cents and leave me with 1 cent if I'm lucky. 😅🤣😂
I know you don't do this, but can you give me advice on what pc (pc parts) would I need to run smoothly programs like; Autodesk Fusion 360, Autocad, and games like Escape from Tarkov, Scum, Gta 5, Battlefield 5.... ? + if you know what monitor with 2560 x 1440 resolution, and minimum 165Hz would be good pairing ? Now about the money side, I saved close to 8000$ (US) for pc (I see it as investment that will last me many years), and pc peripherals. Plan to use headphones, keyboard, and mouse all from Logitech brand. No speakers. If I don't have to spend it all that would be great.
I’m not an expert but the 3080 offers similar performance as the 3090 for $800 cheaper, and paired with the 5900x it would be a beast for 1440p 165hz gaming on high settings, although if I could I would go with the 5950x.
CAD software only requires a mid range GPU but if you get into 3D rendering with Octane / Redshift the 24 gigs of VRAM can be very useful on the 3090 but unless you're sure of it, I don't think future proofing your GPU or any components that way is a good idea. Buy what you need today and don't try and predict the future too much. Software and hardware change so fast you can't even predict what your needs are from one year to the next. It was just two years ago that I needed the fastest CPUs I can afford, I had 5 computers rendering.. that's all flipped now, I have one computer with 3 GPUs rendering!.. good video but the best way to handle the thermals of a RTX 3090 / AMD 5950x is to use liquid cooling IMHO, here is my current build. The GPU temps are 64c under load and the CPU temps are 52c. Point of fact is that the RTX 3090 has GDDR 6 on both sides of the GPU and requires an active backplate to effectively cool to temps below 70c under load. Hello i recently bought ryzen r9 5950x and stuck it with Noctua NH-D15 Chroma black and im having something like 60-65 degrees at 10% load , what i did wrong? im having 3 vents pushing fresh air from outside and 3 pushing it out of the case.. Please help me.
@@theTechNotice i did put Thermal paste on, and there is no plastic for sure, room temp was 28 C at that moment, right now room temp is about 20 C and CPU load 5% and temp of the CPU is 56-60 C i dont know what else i can do ;/
Make sure the direction of your case fans are in the right direction. You want the exhaust fans with the face toward the cpu , remember “faces suck” . Also remove any front panel that could be restricting airflow coming into the case. I removed mine and saw instantly 5 degree drop in cpu temp. Thirdly when mounting the cpu cooler make sure you screw on alternative sides so that you get an even pressure onto the cpu.
I am in the same boat with my 5900x. I get 60 degrees or so at about 10% load. Im going to take my cooler off and make sure i have enough thermal paste on. Also have 6 case fans (3 in 3 out) with the nh-d15 cooler
That is the nature of this CPU when run in PBO2. It can pull up to 1.5 volts on the fastest cores when doing single threaded tasks on 3-4 cores at once. This is an extremely high voltage which the CPU requires to achieve super high clocks of up to 5ghz in lightly threaded workloads. Gaming loads is when this CPU is the hottest IMO as it needs that high voltage to sustain those high clocks. I have the same chip hooked up to a custom water loop with a 360mm (45mm thick) copper radiator and my idle temps sit around 55-60C. My gaming temps can hit up to 79C which is insanely high for gaming temps. My all core stress test temps stay around 83-84C on a 4.5ghz all core OC at 1.235 volts. So what you’re witnessing there is normal behaviour and this chip really is a god damned furnace which really requires a custom loop.
So you did you finally read the AMD site and learn how these processors work? That they're meant to run at higher temperatures, or are these Ryzen 5000 series CPU's still to 'hot" for content creators....lol
5800x is hotter than the other 5000 series. 5800x runs hotter with a better cooler than this CPU (5950x). A lot of people misunderstood what was said on the 5800x video. Basically if you do a lot of rendering on the 5800x it might be worth getting 5900x or 5950x, coz they will run cooler and faster. I saw 5800x drop 200MHz during a render coz it was reaching 90c. Hope this helps. 👍

Those fans are industrial fans which are mostly meant for servers or other pcs that need to be constantly running. Not really meant for home pcs
Which motorized lazy susan is that? Looking for one that can handle more weight
Modern GPUs need liquid cooling way more than modern CPUs.
I think the truth is you need a custom loop, that air cooler is a literal brick.
Just wanted to ask, on the ryzen CPU, did you adjust the voltage to stop CPU from over heating?
Nope, stock!
@@theTechNotice thank you for replying. I think that cooler is awesome. 👍🏾👍🏾
So that's what coil whine sounds like. lol. Ive heard it coming from mine bofore. Didnt know what it was.
So is it possible to fit the Crucial Ballistix RAM with the NH-D15 inside a 5000D Airflow? From case and air cooler specification I thought I had to buy LPX RAM, but seems I just have to move the air cooler front fan to let it fit. Hope you can reply me and that I wrote it well, thank you, greets from Italy!
Why did you go air cooled?
5900x / 3080 FE GANG. Looking to upgrade my 3080 to a 3090 though.
You are not going to get much more gaming performance.
just perfect
👌
good video but the best way to handle the thermals of a RTX 3090 / AMD 5950x is to use liquid cooling IMHO, here is my current build. The GPU temps are 64c under load and the CPU temps are 52c. Point of fact is that the RTX 3090 has GDDR 6 on both sides of the GPU and requires an active backplate to effectively cool to temps below 70c under load. Yes it cost more but the temp differential justifies the cost.

What psu was used in this build?
The PSU link isn't working. Which PSU did you install on this setup?
Fixed! :)
I shaved 3 minutes off the render time if a 4 minute 43 second 4k video when I upgraded from a 2700x to a 5959x. Using a dark rock pro 4 air cooler for now. But will go liquid soon since I can't keep my you under 105c when gaming at 4k
Why didn't you bother cable training your cable extensions? The build would look so much cleaner without the cable extensions all tangled.
28800 Score in r23 with 240 watt is pretty bad. I get like 29500 with 170 watt and stay cool at Max 65C
I love the 8:32 pc spin, super satisfying :)
Mine 5950x can't do even 4 ghz on all cores. Usually it's around 3.9.
Single core is only 4.4-4.5ghz
I wish you were in Los Angeles, that way I could have you build my computer. Parts I've bought so far, ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3060 OC, Asus ROG Strix B550-E Gaming Motherboard, SAMSUNG 970 EVO Plus SSD 2TB - M.2 NVMe SSD, SAMSUNG 980 PRO 1TB PCIe NVMe Gen4 SSD, G.SKILL TridentZ RGB 128GB SDRAM DDR4 2666.
I wish I loved in LA so I could build it for you. :)
@@theTechNotice Lol!
how is your graphics card so straight? mine are always sagging
Sag bracket ;)
May I ask how much power does the whole system consume?
depends if PBO is on or off. :)
If it was off? Thanks for replying.
got similar builld planned but going watercooled
👍
Can this cool a 24-core threadripper?
Can you sell a pre made pc ? In the USA
if so i want to buy
I'm in the UK... :(
You got a new subscriber ;) I love all black pc's but with rgb turned off during the day, and party at night
😉
Why would you even consider an air cooled PC when you're putting a 3090 in a case? Really???
🤗 Where is the benchmark ? 3090 too much big....
I make a coffee & set to watching you my friend.. Funny Time

have same cooler and processor - have 50 - 60 at idle :(

Hello msi x570 unify or gigabyte x570 aorus master rev 1.2 😭😭😭
Buy a Seasonic powersupply
Hello i recently bought ryzen r9 5950x and stuck it with Noctua NH-D15 Chroma black and im having something like 60-65 degrees at 10% load , what i did wrong? im having 3 vents pushing fresh air from outside and 3 pushing it out of the case.. Please help me.
Did you put thermal paste on? Did you forget any plastics on? And what's the room temperature? And has your mobo bios updated? :)
