the devs of the plum tree app made a statement about how the website was more of a personal side project and it was just becoming hard to maintain especially since keeping the domain probably also incurred a small fee and there were little to no donations being given. he also mentioned that he was having a baby on the way and he wanted to keep his full attention to his family because of this ! its bittersweet but i also find it quite endearing

Are they open to working with the Maxis team to make this an official feature? One modder did this when given the opportunity and is also working there now.
@@Cibbic I think the person who made the plum tree app completely stopped so i don’t see them working for maxis. this new team could be open to it i don’t know. But i don’t expect anything like that to happen, I don’t think we’ll ever get an extensive family tree like this in game

Absolutely! When we heard that it was shutting down, we felt that there would be a void left in the sims community and as simmers, we wanted to make sure there was still a way to still track our families!
A thing I wish for is multiple pictures that you can have from the same sim. So if you have a kid there, and they grew up, it would be fun to look back in pictures. Another thing that would be helpful if we could say that the sim was one of multiples. It may be a mess, but I think it would help.
Someone else also suggested this and I passed it to the team working on this! I would love something like this as well, because it’s so cute!!
It won't be available upon release, but we do have a planned "memories" release coming that would allow you to do just that!
i love this! would also love to see a step-parent/step-child addition to the relationship if it isn’t currently there!

It is absolutely on our list! It might not be ready for go-live, but we want to add all of those features in the game, and allow for customization for individuals who use mods!

My problem with the "new" family tree is you have to pay if you want to have more then one family tree. And a lot of simmers can't afford that.. Plumtree's version was free
That is very fair feedback and it’s true there is people out there who cannot afford to pay for it. I know the team is reading along in the comments and this means this is also part of the feedback on a first launch. I cannot promise things will change since I’m a tester and don’t work on the team. But thank you for sharing your honest views. For those who decide they’d like to pay for this, the tool does seem to be pretty great and I’m still excited for it but I also see where you’re coming from 😊
We definitely are taking that into consideration, we are trying to keep it as cheap as possible when it comes to storing the trees to the cloud. We are only charging to cover the costs that we occur in order to make sure we don't have to shut down due to financial reasons in the future. We are trying to explore as many options as possible, because we are simmers ourselves who built this for other simmers, we are trying to make it as accessible as possible to everyone!

Trees would not be saved in the cloud but on the computer, saving on server space. And then maybe have a share online option that would be free at first with 1 tree, and an extra fee for more trees.
I don't know how complicated it would be to code or implement, but i know data need storage and that isn't free. It's what killed the Plumtree app in the end. So i think a downloadable program could probably be a solution.
Have your team comunicated with the creator? I think he was open on sharing the code and maybe share his experience with the app.

Omg! I am very happy that somebody made a new tree app! I hope later we can add multiple picture to a sim panel like a photo album (ex: sim as an infant, birthday, first kiss ect)

My personal favorite is family echo. It's off course not specifically made for the sims but still. I mostly use it for my books and stuff😆

The only downside I find weird is just locking up having multiple trees behind a pay wall.....only being able to have one tree is insane lmao I won't be paying for a family tree site 💀💀🤡
The reason plum tree app shut down was because the developer couldn’t afford to keep the site up if it was free and he wasn’t receiving enough donations. Adding paid options to the sims legacy hub will make it less likely that they’ll need to shut down. You don’t have to spend any money on it if you don’t want to, but others might, and that’s what will keep the site up and running.
Being on the 32nd generation of my own legacy (I've been at it for years and years, end goal is to have a 100-generation cemetary on my lot)... I need this. I've been tracking with pen and paper so far and it is a headache. Also have a *really* complicated family tree, so hopefully this will hold up nicely.
WOW! 32 generation is really impressive!!! 😍 Love the dedication to the storyline, that is awesome! I hope this is going to help you so much! They just told me in the discord they added a “snap to grid” function to the tool already to clean up the family tree a bit more. So they are actively working on getting feedback in before the launch, meaning that more complicated family trees should totally work!
I would love to see your generation legacy! My highest is only generation 12 right now and I'm trying to get to 100 generations as well!

Unfortunately my in-game family tree stops at gen20 (game culled anything that came before, which is extremely frustrating), but at least I still have the paper version and the tombstones. This is why I'm so excited about the website though. Also really excited about the upcoming pack, so I can move people on different units on the same lot (I play on one of the giant Windenburg lots)

We love a really complicated family tree! We designed the app with allowing the tree to be as complex as you want it to be! The best part? You can make a complete spider web with over 10 different relationship types (more may be coming soon 👀) that you can use however you want! Or you can try and make it as clean as possible, it's entirely up to you!!! I speak for the whole team when I say, I can't WAIT to see your 32 generations!!!
The free version only gives you 1 family tree, 250 sims, and (a biggie) it only saves to your browser cache.
Still a great plan but id recommend backing up your photos and descriptions to onenote, google, or whatever you use just in case you delete your browser cache.
Agree completely, we are trying to keep the price as cheap as possible! And one thing about the cloud versions is that does unfortunately cost us to store it. All of the features other than a link to share/number of trees are included in both versions, but we are doing our best to make it as accessible as possible!
@@SimsLegacyHub this is going to be a great tool for simmers and the plans are pretty affordable. I will definitely be using it for my legacy challenge but the browser cache save on the free version is a little worrisome for me. I delete my browser cache and history on the regular but I will be using OneNote for all my pics and descriptions as a backup for my info.
This news about a NEW Sims Family Tree app has made my day!! 😃 With the Plum Tree App shutting down, I had no idea how I was going to keep track of my Whimsy Family Tree, as most family tree apps are not designed in a way to deal with the drama we make with our Sims! This looks as though it will be able to handle the complexities of those trees and I cannot wait to try it out when it becomes available to the public. Thank you so much for sharing this news! ❤
Yay!! I’m so glad you saw the video, I’m so happy so many people are getting as excited as I am! I totally agree that most apps are not equipped for the sims family drama’s 🤣 That’s why it’s so important this is made by simmers, they understand our storytelling haha. We can't wait to see your Whimsy Family Tree!!! We wanted to make this something that is easy to use, but also, allow you to make your sims family relations as messy as they are in game!
@SimsLegacyHub My Whimsy Family Tree will definitely test it out 😆 It spans five generations so far, with many branches. I'll be so happy to have a new tree, fill in everyone's stories and see their genetics move through the generations 🧬🫶

I really hope you can click 2 different ocults on this sight because I do have hybrids, for example, alien x mermaid, or my favorite vampire x spellcaster, though having a human "ocult" to the list would be helpful since human and alien hybrids can be very common if your playing with aliens

That such a relief that they will be a replacement from the plum tree app. I was so sad when learning it will shut down, I was going on a type of goodbye ritual where I kind of rush my sims save so I could make the best of family tree and then just stop playing the game.
Making big family tree was such a big motivation for playing the sims4 to me.
Thought, it miss some details like the preferences, the personalities traits, the job(s), the life style and ect…
something that we could ad in the plum tree app thanks to the « more » catégorie. I don’t think we could put all of those in « details » it would be messy with all the thing that a sims can love or hate.
But since it is still in development I believe it will be added in the futur…

We tried our best to make it as clean/messy as your sims stories can be! Giving each sim the ability to have as many lines as you possibly want to create and their own lineage!
This actually seems really easy to use as a writer as well

I myself have been doing my personal family genealogy since 2005. I use "was" for most things only if they are deceased. Since you mentioned Elliot still being alive it can be complicated. Is he retired? If he is retired he "was a fisherman", unless he continues angling as a hobby, then he still "is a fisherman". It can be confusing, but at the end of the day, it is just a game and he doesn't really care and only a handful of people would ever bug you about it. It's not a doctoral dissertation on the causation vs correlation between global warming and children keeping fireflies/lightning bugs in jars instead of using solar panels or something.
Totally true that in the end it doesn’t matter that much! 🤭 It was just one of those “oh I’m wondering how to write this”. But I like your suggestions on how to approach it ☺️
I don't play TS4, but I do play TS3 and I'm so happy someone decided to do this. I was really sad to the the other website go because the other family tree apps aren't great for sims families. I literally just started a new legacy family in TS3 after having to abandon my old one, so this came in clutch
I am not the sort to deal with the Sims family trees or put complicated backstories in writing, however some 100 baby challenges would be neat to see on this app. I have done alot of 100 baby challenges and keep a spreadsheet when I do them, and list of hundreds of grandchildren and greatgrandchildren and so on down the tree. Especially after Neighborhood Stories feature was added. Every other day that I play a 100 baby I update my spreadsheet. Trust me, you don't need your matriarch doing the hokey-pokey with an unknown great grandchild because moms don't age when they are pregnant but the rest of the family does. It can be really cringey when a player had no idea that the 23rd child had married (random sim name) and no longer had the family surname, and thier kids married random sims and had different surnames as well so they think that the new Sim they met is not anyone they know because the 23rd kid left the house ages ago and is now an elder so you don't think about them.
In testing, I tried a 100 baby challenge and made a beautiful, wild wild spider web of family relations! One of the great things we added as well, was not only the ability to share a family tree as is, but also to share a "List View"! That way even without looking at the family tree, you can see every sims details/photo/description/relationships/whatever you decide to put in!
Thanks for that update. You may want to add that to your TH-cam page, many people I know do have trouble keeping up with 100 baby challenges. I already have a spreadsheet that I use over (since Sims 3) and over and I have no plans to download an app just to keep track of info for a game, EXCEL I use for many things. I avoid apps as much as possible because they just clutter up my tablet and laptop. I have none on my phone, but that is just me. I had no idea the other website even existed and it is good that those users now have a catch-net for thier legacies..@@SimsLegacyHub

I never knew there were such sites. it definitely sounds better than using pictures in game, you tend to run out of room on a wall

What annoyed me about Plumbtree was having to make another tree and connect them if I wanted to connect families. The way it had to be done wasn’t very straight forward. I liked how you could do it on Family Echo but wanted it to be more sims specific like Plumbtree. It’s easy to just put people in and the trees connect that way and you don’t have to load a whole different tree to see the family you were married into.
Oooh yeah I remember that!! I’m not sure how it would work in this one, i don’t think there is any function to connect trees just yet but this is definitely a good though! ☺️
One of the biggest thing that we wanted was for you to be able to make/create and have all the connections as possible to any sim! That was one of the biggest things we had in mind from the get go!

This seems great! I won't be able to pay for anything, as I am a minor and am not allowed, but 250 sims should be more than enough for me. I don't have the patience for a huge legacy challenge. I hope there will be an option to download the family tree, so that maybe when we're finished with one family, we can download them and then delete/restart on the free tree for a new family. An app would be great, too, but I don't really expect that, especially with how much they are already giving us! Can't wait!!
You can download your tree as a picture!! So that should totally work 😊🧡
It would be good if you could toggle visibility of some relationships.
(Ie parent to child) So that you can have a single “child” line going down to the central child, then connect each child as siblings without seeing a new “child” line between each parent and child.
As I think it would still be clear the relationship without a spiders web of lines
I think you can do that and I just did it wrong! 🤭 I saw pics of the family the team made and there the lines were much cleaner. since then they also added snap to grid function!
We have that on our backlog to make connections/sims not visible in order to have cleaner trees, but still have the details for you!
The Toggle on and off relations (and sims) has been deployed!!

Will you add Damien and Rosie's other children and (ex)partners? That family tree will be a mess, lol. Until now, I almost didn't remember that Parker and Dawn had half-siblings from Damien's previous marriage. Did they met each other?
It might be interesting to play this legacy with the new features of For Rent. Maybe they could have Elliot living in an apartment upstairs for their lasting days? Maybe their half siblings / cousins as neighbours trying to have a closer relationship after Damien's death? Certainly it will improve the common spaces vs private spaces in order to keep the yoga classes away from the computers, lol.
I definitely want to make full trees for both of my legacy challenges! And try to get as many details in there as possible (like partners and children of ex partners and things). I definitely need to look into who all of those people were and I'm not sure if I can get pictures of everyone still but I'll try to do my best. I'm quite busy over the next month but I feel a good project coming up for my christmas holiday, to just hermit up with my tea, blankets and just build family trees and tell stories!

They said that for now that don’t have that feature planned since they are using a different code base so importing might not be very easy and they want to focus on other features. But who knows what the future holds. It would be really cool! 😊
I know whenever i try to do legacy i try to marry off each siblings even if i never play them again (sometimes even marrying off their children) so it gets complicated quick especially with the decades challenge

This is on the teams backlog to add! More people in the comments suggested this and I passed it to the team and they let us know they are planning to add this! ☺️
I think it is an interesting website but I wish there was also more inclusiveness of the older games, e.g. in the ocult section I'm missing Witch. Sure I could technically use spellcaster instead but I still hope that this won't only focus on the Sims 4 community but on the entirety of it.
We are working on allowing for other games! We focused on the Sims 4 just because that was top of mind, but on our laundry list of items is allowing for customization and entering your own, so you can use witch, fairy, or any other game that you potentially play!
When I first heard about this, it seemed too good to be true! Getting to see it in action, I'm even more excited for its release!!
It’s definitely as good as it sounds!! It’s so noticeable that it was made by simmers and the team is already chatting about what features they want to add down the line and they are all soooo good! I can only see this getting better! 😍

You can only have 250 sims. I'm doing the Decades challenge starting with 1400. Plus I wanted to do every sims challenge with one family line. 250 won't even cover 1 challenge. Cool idea bur I need an unlimited amount of sims.
I can understand that 250 might not be enough for some simmers, including yourself. I also see that for many use cases 250 will be more than enough. Who knows, maybe down the line they’ll expand it. I know they are already looking into how to handle cases where people want more than 5 trees 😊
Right now we have the limitation as we are testing and seeing what the need/responses are from beta/early access users! That is definitely something we are considering. There are unlimited sims for any of the cloud saving subscription plans, but at least for the free version (which has all the same tree accessibility features) we are trying to see what we can do!
It looks very promising so far. Currently, I'm using the Echo family but it's definitely not made for the Sims family trees. I'd love it if they would add a possibility to choose the gender of the sim, not only pronouns (including trans options, nonbinary ones, agender etc.) and also if we could choose the sexuality of the sim or maybe a place where we could write down what it was (other than in the description) so even after years we can have a whole story in one place. Also an option to write down the reason of death would be also very cool

We absolutely have those features on our list! They might not be ready for go-live, but we are working on adding additional features and the ability to make it as custom as your sims/mods! For example, the ability to enter your own custom pronouns outside of what we currently have built in! We have a long laundry list of things we want added, so keep the great ideas coming!

I really wish that there would be a way to see all the sims at once. You can’t see them all and there’s no way to zoom out. And I wish you could make the sims icons smaller like they were on plum tree because with sims who have lots of partners or children it gets really messy and all the sims overlap.
There is a family tree mod that makes things even easier I have used it 2 create family tries for almost all my preexisting families like the pancake family and Don Lothario I gave Don a loving but struggling mother and a deadbeat dad that he became very bitter of and set it up as if Don was a bit of a trouble maker at times but always would try keeping it away from his mother he felt like he always needed 2 get his anger for his father out in ways he didnt think he could control

Already subscribed to the new family tree app. It would be nice to be able to name the tree. I didn't see a way to do that. Thanks for the video!!
I figured out how to name the tree. If you select "Edit Tree" once you've created it, you get the option to name it and also add a description!!
I have a feeling my vampire legacy would break it. Since they never die and have been around ten generations, and some have kids by two or three sims, most are now related three or four ways. My 5th gen’s half brother is also his great-grandfather 😂

Oh i love this so much, i spent ages looking for somewhere to create mine now the plum tree app is shutting down. Do you think there will ever be an option to import the Gedcom file that most family tree sites and such use?
That I’m not sure of, I don’t expect it to be there in any first releases but maybe later down the line!
Unfortunately that is not something that we currently offer as we have such a different code base in order to allow the customization we have built out!
for some reason it won’t let me create an account. it keeps saying can’t register with that username and email combination and I have tried 3 of my emails and 30 different usernames that are completely different from each other
That sounds frustrating! My advice would be to join their discord and ask if they can help!! 🧡
I am soooo glad I saw this video in time! Tysm for making it! I would've lost everything for my sim family in the plum tree app since I didn't know about the upcoming shutdown. This teaches me to not be lazy and just backup everything to google docs in case this happens to another website.
Will it ever be possible to zoom in and out in the family tree? I would really like that feature, it would make it so much easier to view different parts of the tree and generations as whole. Loving it already though
I agree this would be a great feature!! My suggestion would be to join the discord of creators and then request it there! That’s the best place to contact them with feature requests 🫶🏼

I just wish I knew Plum Tree was closing down before it was too late... At least a dozen generations are gone and I can't get that info back
u have to click on the Line Snap button and then it will show you a new way the lines connect to each other (does it make sense?)
When I recorded this video (in early early access) that feature was not available yet. But they added it right before official release and I’m sooooooo happy they did!!
In the Plum Tree app we could make many family trees. I know I at least had seven...for free.
While that is true, the plum tree app is no longer around. And one of the reasons as to why was because the creator wanted to spend more time with family and upkeeping the website for free was no longer worth it. Most family tree services out there offer one free for free, it’s not the same but better than nothing 😊
I am soo excited to see this. Right now I have 2 trees that I have been trying to manage on a RL genealogy page and it is tough cuz some options are not there. Ready for the release!!!
I saw that the Plum Tree App is going down the same day this website releases and it's going down because it didn't earn enough money to keep running
The reason for the plum tree app going down is because the person maintaining it has said he wants to spend more time with his family and no longer wants to be responsible for upkeeping a website like this because its a lot of work. Money might have been part of this decision but the team who made this app are in a different life stage and are doing it for different reasons so I thin we'll be good :)

I took screenshots in game! For me personally this is a feature from the reshade that I use (a mod to make my colors in game look different). However, if you have your snip tool on your PC you can also take regular screenshots and then save them somewhere. Another alternative is pressing C on your keyboard and then you take an in-game picture. You can also click on the camera icon that is next to the time at the bottom of the screen. Those photo’s can be found in the sims folder in your documents (documents > electronic arts > the sims 4)

4:15 is there a way to do that without a scroll wheel? I have a laptop but it doesn’t come with one of those computer mouses :(
My best guess would be the same way as you would scroll on your laptop, so two fingers on the touchpad at the same time

Well, I feel like this group is exploiting the sims community JUST LIKE THE PLUM TREE CREATOR mentioned on their site. I joined their waiting list and just got access to the site. First off, it's ONE tree not 3 (like in your video). And second, I immediately got another email from them saying this was a "7 day free trial" and after that I had to pay. NO THANK YOU. Plum Tree will be offering their source code FOR FREE for anyone to use. I'm very disappointed.
I’m sorry you feel this way. If you prefer to use the source code of the plum tree app for tree that is also completely fine. I can imagine this being different than what you expected. The team is reading along in the comments and I’m sure they will take any feedback to heart including this one. I cannot promise that things will change as this is not my project, I’m simply testing. The conclusion might be that this option doesn’t work for you and that is valid as well 😊
We are so sorry you feel this way, that's not at all our intention. As simmers, who made this for simmers, our goal is to make it as accessible and easy to use for everyone. There is still a free option as well as paid options for SimsLegacyHub, but we are trying to keep costs as low as possible to just cover the costs we have for storing all the data/photos to the cloud!
@@RosannaTxt it might be good to pass along that the 7-day trial should be mentioned before sign-up. It makes it seem kind of skeevy to hide that in terms & conditions.
