Great points. I am a permanent resident of Japan, but for my wife's brain tumor, I actually am doing the reverse. Availability of 24 x 7 nursing staff in Japan is impossible with long wait times. In India nursing staff is more of a reality. Same is true with UK. For clinical trials, yes I will get her to Japan, but otherwise India for Quality of Life and family support

My father passed away due to Esophagal cancer in India. Non drinker and non smoker. Lot of grief still today. No Oncologist Doctor should be given any kind of awards as they are incapable of saving lives. Doctors here can change dose if reason is documented properly. It happens all the time.
It does, but it is much more inflexible than in India. High cost+insurance driven system leads to a lot of problems
Recently we had a patient with very poor finances and fitness. We modified a "full dose immunotherapy" protocol and were able to offer her immunotherapy at 1/20 of the cost of full dose because the Indian system is flexible. She was successfully cured. If this patient had been there in the USA she would have been sent home to die.

Dr. You said the treatment in USA follows a protocol so that no matter which hospital or doctor the patient goes, a standardised procedure is followed. What is the reason we do not have such a standardised protocol in India ?. Why can’t Indian doctors and medical associations get together to draft a standard guideline and protocol ?.
There are some standardized protocols in India as well. However, they have some limitations, eg. hospitals may disagree about which protocol to follow. Also, they are generally updated only once in 3-4 years while American protocols are updated 3-4 times every year.

My mother is lung cancer patient stage 4(adenocarcinoma egfr exon 19). She is taking dacomitinib since 1st april 2022. Now she is having mouth ulcers which is also there in her throat(pain while swallowing food). Is there any chance that the medicine has stop working. Also she is eating less food due to ulcers n hence weight loss of 3-4 kg in 1 and half months
Dacomatinib ulcers are a common side effect. Your oncologist will have to help you manage it. If severe/persistent she may need to reduce her dose.

My father was detected ca head pancreatic in April 2022.
ERCP conduceted in april 2022.
Post checkups, doctors, decided to go for whipples procedure but said surgery was aborded after transaction and we were informed that surgery cannot be possible.
Later chemotherapy started and after 9 cycles they have switched to oral chemo.
Ca 19.9 in april 2022 was 700
Ca 19.9 in june 2023 was 100
But now ca 19.9 readings spike up tp 130.
Please advise what to do further.
