    00:00-00:19
    - Hi, everyone, this is Maria from travelguidelisbon.com, and this video is about the hop-on hop-off bus tours in Lisbon. I'm going to talk about which one is the best option, the prices and schedules, and what the tour includes and what it covers.
    00:29-00:43
    - Now, there are plenty of companies offering hop-on hop-off bus services in Lisbon. The two most popular ones are the Yellow Bus Company and the City Sightseeing Company. That is the one with the big red buses.
    The Yellow Bus Company 00:49-01:21
    - First, I'm going to describe the Yellow Bus Company simply because that's my favorite choice. I think they offer the best value for your money.
    - Now, the Yellow Bus Company, it uses big yellow double-decker open-top buses, where you can listen to the commentary in 12 different languages. The Yellow Bus Company has two main routes in winter, and three routes in summer season. (...)
The Yellow Bus Tagus Route 01:26-02:06
    - So the three routes of the Yellow Bus are the Tagus route, the Olisipo route and the Belem route. Now I would start with the Tagus route, because that's the one which starts in the old historic city center of Lisbon and covering all the main attractions there and then it drives off to the Belem district and covers all the main attractions there, such as the Belém Tower and the Jerónimos Monastery.(...)
The Yellow Bus The Olisipo Tour 02:11-03:05
    - The Olisipo tour is the route which also starts in the old historic city center of Lisbon but then it drives off to a different direction to a district called Parque das Nações. This is a modern area of Lisbon which was built for the '98 World Exposition which was held in Lisbon and this area is also packed with some top attractions such as the Lisbon Oceanarium or The Vasco da Gama Bridge but you will also find here, cable car, The Pavilion of Knowledge or it also stops at the Azulejos Museum on the way here (...)
    The Yellow Bus Duration 03:06-03:26
    - The duration of the Olisipo and the Tagus route is more or less one hour, forty minutes (...)
The Yellow Bus Belem Summer Route 03:28-04:30
    - The third route of the Yellow Bus Company is called the Belem route. Well, this one runs only in summer season, and this is a complimentary tour to the Tagus route. Because this is a tour of Belém, so it's a little bit more detailed tour of Belém not only on the waterfront, but if you go all around behind the buildings and smaller streets, it will stop at the Maritime Museum or the National Museum of Coches and such places (...)
The Yellow Bus What is included 04:35-05:31
    - So how much does it cost with the Yellow Bus Company? So the ticket costs 22 euros 50 for an adult (...) So the price of 22 Euros 50 cents includes 48 hours of hop-on hop-off bus services, the Santa Justa Elevator, The funiculars and trams of Lisbon, that includes the famous Tram 28, which is the sightseeing tram of Lisbon, and funiculars, as well, such as the Gloria funicular. Then the price also includes Aerobus ticket (...)
City Sightseeing Bus (Red Bus) 05:37-05:51
    - The second company I'm going to talk about is the City Sightseeing Company. That's the one which are using the big red buses. They are also double-decker and up on top where you can listen to the commentary in 12 different languages.
City Sightseeing Bus The Blue and Red Lines 05:57-06:58
    - They have two routes, the blue line and the red line. The red line is the one which explores the old historic city center of Lisbon, and then it drives off to Belém and explore the Belém and all the main attractions there. (...)
    - The Blue Line is the one that also starts in the city center, but then it drives off to Parque das Nacoes to explore that area and its attractions. (...)
    City Sightseeing Bus Price 07:03-07:30
    - So how much does it costs? Well a ticket for an adult costs 22 Euros in the winter season (...). But this price is for 24 hours, so this ticket is for one day only.
City Sightseeing Bus 25% Discount Lisban Card 07:35-07:47
    - If you have the Lisboa Card, you will receive 25% discount on the price of the hop-on hop-off buses of the red buses, from the City Sightseeing Company ticket.
    A few last tips 07:52-08:20
    - So that's about it for today. Please visit our website travelguidelisbon.com where I have also prepared a comparison table for you between the Yellow Bus and the City Sightseeing bus company, where you can compare them (...)

Thank you but unfortunately this info seems incorrect as it may have changed. We used this advice & bought tickets for Yellow Bus & had so many problems. 1) Price for 48 hrs is actually the same at the other Red bus company 2) BUT the other Red company has much more frequent buses & one can actually get a seat 3) The red bus map is excellent & clear - while Yellow bus map is so small it is impossible to find the bus stops.. We walked for more than 1 hr trying to find their bus stops.. 4) Red bus co. has an app that tells you where is the nearest stop AND when is the next stop.. All in all, we had a very negative experience & wish we used the other company.

Obrigado for this information; it's really valuable. Quick question: where can one buy the yellow bus tour? I am planning to take the metro from the airport to my hotel in Graca and will probably take the hop on off bus the day after. Thanks!

Hi Yamil. Thank you for your comment and question. It's much appreciated. You can purchase the yellow bus either online, or locally. In case you would like to have a look at the online option, feel free to have a look at our link below: travelguidelisbon.com/hop-on-hop-off-bus-tours-in-lisbon/ - in it, you will find a link to our partner who offers the 48-h option at the same normal rate as the supplier, with immediate confirmation (you would need to present the voucher onboard, either printed or on your mobile device). Feel free to let us know, should you have any other questions. Have a wonderful time in Lisbon!

Hello Maria. Thanks for information. My flight is to Lisbon at the end of November 2019. One of the places that I have to visit is Cabo da Roca but I studied in November Hop on Hop off dose not go this place. so is there any other solution, I mean public transportation? HI Saleh. Thank you for your comment and questions. We have prepared a dedicated article for "Cabo da Roca". In section "How to get to Cabo da Roca", you will find more details, including which bus you could take as there arent indeed any hop-on-hop-off options: travelguidelisbon.com/what-to-do-in-cabo-da-roca-where-the-land-ends-and-the-sea-beggins/
In your case, for just 3 days, it might not be worth renting a car. In your case perhaps either public transportation, or a guided tour (which includes also other must-visit locations) could be a better option. Have a wonderful time in Lisbon!

Whatever you do in Portugal, don't use the hop-on hop-off buses in Lisbon or Sintra! I've been on these buses in Dublin, Rome, Paris and San Diego and they are a great way to see the city. But both my experiences with these buses in Lisbon and Sintra were absolute disasters! In Lisbon it was chaos personified. You can buy a ticket with no problem, but getting onto the bus is a nightmare. We stood in the hot sun for 45 minutes waiting for a bus at the starting point. They simply didn't have enough buses. Once on-board, the narration audio didn't work and the bus driver didn't stop at any of the assigned stopping points, even when were pressed the "Stop" button. In Sintra, there were no signs indicating the pick-up point and I watched the driver pass several people who tried to flag him down, even though there was plenty of room on the bus. Portugal's hop-on hop-off buses are a massive rip-off. Don't take my word for it. Check the Travelocity reviews. They are consistently rated one or two stars by travelers.

The video has at least 1 error.
There are 3 Sightsseing companies in Lisbon and not 2!
The Yellow Buses, Citysightseeing Portugal and Gray Line.
Both Citysightseeing Portugal and Gray Line use Red buses, but they are DIFFERENT companies!
And if the purpose of the video is to make a comparison, at the beginning you should not say that the Yellows are your favorites, but at the end and if you used the 2 services (which in reality are 3).
Therefore, in this video, I didn't realize if you really used the 2 companies. I even wonder if he used any company.
