I have passed by this several times over the years and did not realize that you could go in, nor did I know the history of it. A Clark piano was top of the line in that day. Loved all of the furniture, esp. the half canopy bed. Thanks for taking us here. You have a new follower. Can't wait to see where else you will take us in our wonderful state.
I was a volunteer docent in a 1775 house museum. I told the “sleep tight” story thousands of times on tours. About 6 years in, I had an English professor on one of the tours. I got to the “sleep tight” story. He said “That’s not right.” I was dumbfounded. He said “we say our pants are tight and “sit tight” and neither have anything to do with ropes”. After the tour I started digging into the internet, and the guy is right. “Tight” can be a way to say safely or snuggly. We Americans dropped the “ly” from tightly and simplified it to “tight”. It’s an enduring history myth.
The staff who work at The Rock House and the museum are awesome
What a beautiful home! Love the stone & all that old furniture! Awesome video! 👍❤️🤘

Another great SW VA video! Wytheville is a nice place!
Love the stone. If only more of the old buildings were built with stone - many more might've survived. Thx again.
Great video, they have excellent antiques there!
I think the random knob outside front door operated the doorbell you saw inside.
Thanks!
