Whilst walking my dogs on an airfield I found a young pigeon alone and far from any cover. I took it home fed it and built a temporary enclosure so it could recover. After a few weeks it became obvious that it had a problem and it's flight feathers never grew. I had him for the next 21 years, first living outside in his enclosure but as he aged, he lived indoors. He loved our company and would welcome us and respond to us when we called his name by doing a typical pigeon coo and bowing motion. He had a good life despite his disability and everyone who knew us, knew him too.
There are 2 wood pidgeons that have been coming to my garden and sitting on the fence for over 20 years I'm 33 years old and they have been there my whole life as far back as I can remember, one day one of them them turned up by itself and looked really sad and wasn't acting how it normally would(there was a big storm so I'm guessing it got seperated somehow because of it), it sit on my fence and on the roof opposite for 4 days waiting and then the partner appeared I literally saw the partner arrive and they both kind of cuddled each other and rubbing beaks and making their hooting noise. They always work as a pair to eat the food I leave out for other birds, they will first sit on opposite roofs and scan the area for cats for about 10 mins (there's alot of cats in my estate) then they fly down to my fence, and one will stay on the fence looking around while the other knocks down the seeds out of the feeder(they are too big to land on it to eat) then goes up to the fence to look out while the other eats the dropped seeds and they take turns doing this, they come everyday at literally exactly the same time for 20+years they are really old now you see the age on their faces, beaks and legs/feet like two little OAPs lol.......
I just recently discovered a pair in my garden doing the exact same things! It's absolutely wonderful to watch them, theyre so cute. 20 years though?! Amazing. I hope to see them for the same length of time xx
One thing worth adding is they have an incredible propensity to become very tame with us humans, if fed they will return regularly and even demand feeding daily, and quickly become very tame to the point of eating out of an open hand. These beautiful and gentle creatures are a joy to get to know individually in your own garden.
I feed two regularly they sit on a lamp post i have become used to me feeding them i live on the second floor of a block of flats i often chase cats off as they plot up on them not on watch though
I have a few woodpigeons visiting my garden. I'm sure they are all related. They will sit on my patio table eating their peanuts only inches away from me. One even wandered into my livingroom one day. When I had a dog he and Woody (the house visitor) mouched about the garden together neither bothered about the other.
They sit next to me on bench in Sheffield botanical gardens, eat like a horse and some like being stroked. One landed on my finger the other day which never happened before quite amazed !

@Missy♡ they'll always find food in cities. From my own observations, the eat berries, cherries, seeds etc. Sometimes I see them nibbling at blades of grass on my lawn. There is no need to feed them, they always manage to find something to eat- the exception being during very cold weather.
I actually have a 16 year old wood pigeon! He was found injured in the middle of a busy road at night, in the rain, missing a foot with an injury to a wing. He's been a pet ever since (seeing as he can't fly). I have no idea how old he was when I picked him up, but he wasn't that young (no down for sure).
I love pigeons too, wood pigeons, roxk doves. A former girlfriend loved them, taught me about them. I miss her everyday. Everyday I put several bowls of clean water out & seeds in a feeder. I love to watch the eat & drink & bathe with the numerous sparrows
I have a wood pigeon who visits my garden every day. I call him Norman. This evening there were 2 more with him. He and one other were establishing the pecking order at the food table! A sort of Pigeon hierarchy. Turns out my Norman is quite submissive as he allowed the other one to get first pickings. I told him not to worry as would put out extra for him once the other bossy one had gone lol. 😂❤ I love my Normondo
For me, wood pigeons are comedic. They have this very cautious curiosity. Where the feral pigeons will swarm to fees, you'll find a hesitant wood pigeon or two on the periphery. They cock their heads and assess the safety before landing to feed and alight as soon as they're spooked. But keep feeding them regularly and sit still and they get more accustomed to people. They'll never land on you like the feral descendants of homing pigeons, but they'll learn that it's safe to feed with you around. They also fight and have some kind of pecking order too. The feral pigeon will feed in groups but the wood pigeon is much more territorial often having hilariously clumsy fights with one another.
One thing you omitted was a red ring around the beak close to the head. They are also easy to tame as I had one that became a ‘besty’ who would fly to hand daily and we would hang out together. Sadly, last year he died after seven years of him coming every day without fail. Never underestimate the power of sunflower seeds!! ;)) I also believe it is almost impossible to sex, although behaviour is a give away when it comes to courting! They are far more intelligent than we give them credit for, and they have a very soft ‘coo’ alarm call that is barely audible. I would have him on my hand and he would spy a distant buzzard or kids helium party balloon from miles away, stand to attention and quietly and persistently coo until they disappeared. I have quite a few vids, including the alarm call that are on my facebook feed, unfortunately not categorised so are a pain to find. Lovely birds and great you have given them a space here! Thank you! ;))
Mr Woodrow, great name! There is one around here that has a lot of white feathers and is quite tame. There’s an old people’s home over the road and I think they must feed him.
I have two pigeons that come to my garden everyday. The sit on the fence cuddling and cooing for hours. I just love pigeons. Thanks for the great, very interesting, video. ❤️🇬🇧
I have two that come to my garden that like to sit on the fence and chat away. I put food out for them. They’re called Gertrude and Bertie 😊 there’s also Doris and Norris but they go to my neighbours garden
For years a Wood pigeon came to the same part of my garden, at the same time every evening in the summer. It ate a bowl of peanuts and drank from it's bowl of water, a nightly ritual.
They are a cheeky bird. A regular visitor sets on a neighbours roof. It gives me intense side ways looks as I fill the bird feeders. I then retreat to the shed door and beckon it with hand movements to come. After a few more side ways glances he/ she swoops down to feed on the grains that spilled from the feeder on to the lawn. A beautiful and interesting Pigeon.
Hi from Finland and thanks for this video. My garden wood pigeons migrate around the end of September and return during the last weeks of March. Woodies are my favourite birds and although they seem to be a bit clumsy they are actually very clever. I'm glad my neighbours don't mind me feeding a whole flock of wood pigeons :D
We had wood pigeons nesting in a syringa (lilac) tree in the garden a couple of years ago. I could see the squabs in their nest from my kitchen window. It was a lovely sight. I live just outside Manchester in the UK.
Wood pigeons are so lovely! They've got pretty colours, they make nice sounds, I like the way they walk with their little pink feet and they're funny! I love watching them in the autumn because they'll stomp around the garden eating acorns- they just swallow them whole and sometimes almost choke themselves haha
My next door neighbour shoots them, I have had 6 dead or dying ones in my garden! I have one in the garden now with an injured wing, so I am feeding it till it hopefully gets better.
@@V0RT3X He doesn't like them to ruin his garden (his perception) My Widgy (I have named him now😊) is still surviving. His wing will probably never get better now sadly. I am worried about what will happen when winter comes😔😕and if he will survive the cold. His friends come to visit occasionally, but his enemies the Magpies and Crows try to steal the food that I leave out for him 😣 He waits in front of the kitchen window for his breakfast every day🤗 wish me luck🍀
Hi! We have woodpigeons too. Individually, very thoughtful and lovable although they are the most pugnacious of birds in the garden, going through periods of attacking one another relentlessly and bullying all the other birds, squirrels and anything in their sights! Beautiful yet bad tempered. I treasure their quiet moments of contemplation. Their signature call has caused us to call them 'Booboo birds ' as it sounds exactly as if they're saying 'My name is Booboo!' Their pugilative actions also earnt them the epithets of Tweedledee and Tweedledum!
@@remi_gio Thanks! You are quite right of course. They simply regard everything as their feeding territory. It just appears as though they are bad tempered because they attack every other species as well as each other. Nature is tough and we must resist giving them human epithets.
I rescued a fledgling at around 3 or 4 weeks old and I put a pink rung on her leg and released her af 7 weeks. I found her again and rescued her again 14 years later in an allyway and he had a broken wing. Sadly it couldn't be fixed and so she went to live in a rescue in an outdoor aviary with other disabled pigeons and she lived another 3 years after that and sadly died from complications from an eye infection. So she was 17 years and roughly 7 months when she died.
Oh thanking YOU so much for this video. I have always loved these pigeons - never seen them before in any other country. Just today, as I was going to feed a wood pigeon, a baby squirrel turned up. So, I left the peanuts on the floor for the pigeon. When I turned around, I wondered how it is that all the nuts were no longer there. Now, that you have explained, I understand better.
Our wood pigeons are starting to train us. If we've not popped out with a portion of seed by 6am, they walk heavily across our house roof. If we've not popped out with a portion of seed by 7am, they stand on the fence in a queue. If we've not popped out with a portion of seed by 8am, they start to kamikaze against our windows, patio doors etc until we wake up and pop out with some seeds. The wood pigeons have by now even trained us to put out some dog food kibble soaked in water to keep the jackdaws happy.
I love all birds and wood pigeons are no exception. I have about 5 of them nesting in my garden. they don't bother the little birds at all. I love to hear them.
I've had the same wood pigeons in the trees in my garden who've bred there for over ten years and still bringing up young some of who are living near by.
Thank you, I didn't know a lot of that-especially about how much they can hold in their crops, and how they drink! We have a friendly one that comes to ask for suet pellets, they're lovely birds.
@@markhomer5704 does that make you feel the big man, responding to people saying nice things about the birds, and how they have helped their mental health with how you can eat them? are you so lacking in empathy or social intelligence that your words seem like a good idea? i see comments like this all the time and i often wonder what provokes them. do you have a miserable life and want others to feel the same, or is it attention seeking? are you trying to be genuine, offering advice as you lack the ability to understand anything but your own perspective? i am genuinely interested in what provokes such responses.
@@dragonmaddie Well, I like shooting them, and they are very tasty, that's it really, and if by chance I don't eat them, then I either give them to the ferrets or to the raptor center together with a few squirrels if there's any around. Nothing is wasted.
@@markhomer5704 then why not put that as your own comment? why respond to people who are obviously enjoying the living birds very much? there is space for everyone, i am interested in why you felt the need for that response in this thread particularly. it is more the psychology of these kinds of responses.
Do they have partners for life? I have wood pigeons on our holy tree. They come around the house to the part of the garden where we feed squirrels and robins, and they always come to that place around 5 pm every day! They sometimes fight on their tree and they're quite vicious as we find lots of feathers on the ground beneath that tree. Wonder, what could they be fighting about? Or maybe another pigeon tries to take over their tree? I was going to thank you for not having background music, but it wasn't too bad. Although music is never a necessity, unless it's a music video😀 When we see the woods and birds, it's nice to enjoy that peace we would've found in these woods, watching these pigeons. Any music spoils this tranquil environment. That's only my view. Thank you so much for the information about the milk they make in their throats! I find it so surprising and I can't believe, I didn't know this. You're amazing! Thanks again. 🦆( there was no pigeon available 😂)
I live on the East coast of the U.K. around a quarter of a mile from the sea. We have an abundance of birds including the wood pigeon. We put out fresh food and water every day (well seeds) and of course fat balls, nuts, and fruits. It’s an absolute pleasure to watch them. Watching your channel has really helped us understand more. Thank you.
My name is Liam also. Im from Ireland. I stumbled across your channel by accident and started to watch your videos about birds. Thank you so much for your effort in teaching us about these beautiful creatures. Liam.
I always feed the pigeons from an apt i lived in on Mission street SF from a kitchen window. I cooked and cared for a fella with an ailment. Id buy bread and seeds to gove them every moring while i cooked someone breakfast 😊
The pergola in our garden has been claimed by a pair of woodpigeons. They usually come to feed twice a day and then sit on the pergola or go waddling around the garden to find things to eat. They’ve even worked out how to use the pond fountain to have a bath and drink.
I have four that come for food every day. Two of them have been coming for at least eight years, and maybe longer. Whilst I can get very close to them, they would never take food out of my hand. Have to say that they don’t have much of a personality, but it’s still good to see them each day.
I have two that frequent my garden and we love watching them. So clumsy, always fighting and generally fun to watch. We call them the bottom feeders as they can’t seem to hover near the bird feeder, so they wait until the squirrels knock some seeds down and they take the rest.
I used to hate wood pigeons, when I was a kid they'd wake me up with their "woo hoo ho ho ho" nonsense. But as an adult, they visit our garden and shown it safe for the smaller birds. They are great.
A great channel. You've taught me all I need to know about the birds I feed. The Woodies are my favourite as they're so funny. They waddle around squabbling over food in a comical way. They stand up tall and flap at each other chasing each other around, meantime the feral pigeons are scoffing down everything behind their backs. I used to have 3 pairs but this year there's 6 pairs, feeding them every day does help.
@Sonia I can't afford to feed them as much now due to the price rises in everything. I sigh sadly typing this remembering the happiness I felt a year ago when I wrote the comment. I love the birds, I love the song of the wood pigeons, love having them around. Funny little guys. Life is difficult now, I hope it gets better one day so I can look after the pigeons again. When we lose touch with the natural world something within us goes quiet. I send my best wishes to you for noticing my comment and the pigeons. O
Wood pigeons are one of my favourite birds. I have tree at the back of my property and they nest there. In Spring, they sit on my fence at the front and I get see a lot of their mating rituals. I did a canvas painting of one who was a regular visitor one year and didn't seem to have a mate. They are lovely to look at.
We rescued a woodie squab. He'd been chucked out of the nest by mags. He became very tame and lived with us for several years. We named him Percy. He eventually went feral after 3 or 4 years and we saw less of him. He hooked up with a hen and they nested for several spring and summers in a Willow in our paddock. He must have been around for 8 or so years. He could distinguish between individual humans and was a smart little guy. Unfortunately, I think a badger got him, I found some remains near the Sett. Like me now, old and slow! Thanks and blessings.
Love my woodies. Always had a canoodling couple on the fence below my window for a few years. Current resident of the garden has an obsession with cheese😂 also love watching them being territorial, headbutting other birds with their beak!
We have a single female who more or less lives in our small garden. This is her 6th year. She was courted 4 yrs ago and attempted to build a nestin the tree at bottom of garden, it was a disaster, as was the relationship lol. The single boys come calling every year, she accepts them sitting with her, even allows them to eat with her, but the moment they start bowing and cooing she sets them straight and off they go. I feel so sorry for her, especially in winter. She is very healthy, well fed all year, and gets an extra feed just before dusk all to herself as she's always last to leave at night.
I have a pair of wood pigeons who love my garden and I love them. They are quite violent to each other (when mating)and lose a lot of feathers sometimes. We feed them and they are very sweet.
Nice to find your channel and thank you for all the info on wood pigeons! I love them so much and always look forward to being back to the UK to hear their lovely sound. We don't have them in the USA....
Ive got pigeons that come to my garden in Sweden every year! ♡ I feed them oats and sunflower seeds and sit and watch them as they court, bully other species and appear very peaceful for the most part! There's usually one who seems to recognise me and gets eye-contact and then comes walking towards me as i sit inside the enclosed verandah. Im still hoping that one day it will come thru the door and say 'hi' 😊 When they leave I really miss them alot!! Thanx for this video..much appreciated 😀
Love Wood Pidgeons! We have lots in our garden and our area. I watched a male and a female courting first and then mating on our back fence a couple of weeks ago.
@@eliz_scubavn Same with my family garden..I have a video with a slice of bread with a hole in the middle draped around 1 of the birds neck...So funny watching it trying to get it off My G.children loved it
@@paulrycroft3792 we had one of ours get drunk on rotting fruit and then it kept falling off the branches it was trying to sit on. I felt so bad for laughing but it was very funny. They also like to waddle in and around the plants in the garden looking for seeds and bugs. They’re so big it’s a wonder they fit into some places.
@@eliz_scubavn I still have the video but I am not compatible in tech stuff. I would love to send it to this channel so I will ask someone if they can help..Take care now
Wood pigeons have and always will be my favourite bird and animal. I have a pet one that we raised from a squab because my parents ran a bird rescue, and he was unable to be released. He’s mine and he’s 3 now :D he sees me as his mate and I’ve never had a better pet. Pigeons are amazing companion animals and I would highly recommend them if you’re looking for a loving, easy and devoted pet ❤️
You can't keep pigeons by themselves. They are social birds and they get lonely. You cannot be around the bird as much as it's mate and if you look at it from it's point of view, it is making the best of a prison sentence. Underlining your assumptions, no pet is "easy", all of them require endless research to make them truly happy. And finally, most people do not have the correct environment to keep birds. Keeping birds indoors is potentially bad both for their health and yours because birds require very clean air (watch out for hypersensitive pneumonitis). There is an army of people who convince themselves they are doing a favour to wildlife when in fact they are making their lives hell just so they can have an "experience". If it was a squab it could have been released with others after fledging. This is why the RSPCA will prosecute people who make claims to be a rescue/ do DIY rather than take them to a wildlife vet. Some wildlife centres do put down disabled birds, you have to find the right one.
You really shouldn't be recommending people have wild birds as pets. Some numpty will trap them, if your parents are involved in rescue, they sure never taught you anything.
They breed in my garden every year in a hanging basket i fixed into a tree ,I did so because the twig nest kept falling. They add fresh twigs into the basket. There are two chicks wandering my garden right now. They fell out in strong winds. They hide and roost in various places around the garden which is fenced in, coming out to be fed by both committed parents when they fly in. Just stand back and watch, I hope they survive to fly, as long as they don't get predated and the parents keep coming, they should do.
All my life I have listened to Wood Pigeons, and always been fascinated by their calls. In the morning they coo a short phrase that can be repeated only once or many times, I have heard 6 repititions, but three seem to be the norm. In the early morning there is often a bird strutting up and down the ridge of a shed roof in the garden, it will coo three repititions and then listen, as do I, then I faintly hear a reply from a bird in the wood about 1/4 of a mile away over the fields, which seem to be the same repeats. I wonder if any research has been done?
Hi Liam, I've always fed wild birds, and they bring me so much joy. This year I have two apparent sibling birds with exact same unusual markings. They're pink all over except the head, which has the usual colour and markings. They also have a white band across their wings. There's also a wood pigeon that's a very dark charcoal colour, with a striking white flash on its lower back at the beginning of its tail. Again, normal markings on the head/neck. The wings largely cover this white flash while folded. I love to see all the variations on wood pigeons. When you see them every day you can see their individual characters and funny habits. They're adorable! 😍🪽 You have a great channel! 🇬🇧
I live in central London I have a one eyed wood pigeon who visits my balcony high above the chaos and traffic every morning and just before sunset when I feed her digestive biscuits from my hand in this concrete jungle this visit from the wild calms my soul🙏
They're also very territorial, which I didn't know till a pair moved in here a few years ago. Outside of their young after they fledge, they tolerate no other around here 😄
The day I arrived in the UK from North America, I was greeted by wood pigeons in a sqare in Oxford. Giant pigeons with giant pigeon voices! Now I enjoy hearing them in the background in videos from the UK.
I love pidges, they are intelligent and affectionate creatures. I put out seeds in my garden every day and when I venture into town always have a a pocket full of peanuts.
@@AShotOfWildlifesame i just am obsessed with them i used to call them aboody when i was little and i had a south Korean friend (which is still my friend even now) and he told me it means 'father' or 'grandfather' which is kinda cool tbh
wood pigeons are my favorite birds. I love listening to their cooing and watching them just living their lives. I often feed pigeons (duck the police) and I usually drop something for them, too but I'm not that lucky with feeding wood pigeons.
I love these wonderful birds ,I have around 7 that come to my garden ,and a pair that guard their territory ;This pair are very friendly and I can feed them inches away.Have 1 baby so far.
My mum used to feed a wood pigeon she called Woody who had a misaligned beak. He came every day for a few months for seeds she threw on the soft grass. Maybe he was prey to a cat but he never had an empty stomach while he visited and was tamer than the other wood pigeons.
Just found one of the three woodies I feed on my balcony, wandering around my lounge!! Stupid bird squeezed through a narrow opening in the patio dooors and then couldn't get himself out. They really do seem a bit dim, but I love watching them.
Your short videos are absolutely fascinating & informative. I’m living in Spain and feed pigeons & sparrows everyday whilst drinking in tapas bars. It’s my new hobby. Thanks for sharing yr knowledge 😎
Excellent insight as ever. I love all pidges, considering them intelligent and affectionate creatures, and I never venture into the city centre without a few peanuts to feed them. Keep up the good work.🐦
Thanks so much and no idea how I missed this 2years ago lol Better late than never .A great video of a bird I have a couple of wood pigeon visit me They enjoy the abundance of water to drink and a dish of basmati rice Have fed and watered they sunbathe on my balcony .Just like humans they turn around as they sunbathe .So inoffensive & peaceful . ps ) Can anyone tell me of anything farmers don't hate ? ...
Never knew about the milk feeding. Thanks. Would love if you’ve included their call. It’s so beautiful. Sends me back to when I was a kid visiting my granny in the summer
Twentyfour hours after the heavy storm in 2002 I found a living wood pigeon blocked in the hedge of my garden under a fallen tree. I brought the wood pigeon inside. Closed the curtains for safety. First let him drink some water. Cooked some crushed bird feeding seeds. I fed the bird by hand with a decapetated 10 cc Injection syringe. After three days he trusted me to sit on my shoulder, while I was walking in my living. During his test flights all the curtains were closed, After nine days I let him free. Birds are my best friends. I spotted my first wood pigeon in the town of Rotterdam in 1952 Birds are men's best friend..
I love listening to them cooing in the trees. I have a pair who come into my garden every day they always make straight for the bird bath for a drink then they come over to the window to eat the seed thay I leave out. They always have a quick glance at me through the window before they eat, so cute
Man, pigeons are such amazing animals! I've got a family of them that live in my balcony, though the nearby crow keeps trying to scare them off and has devoured multiple of their eggs already, so I need to try to scare off the crows. The moment I saw that the video includes pigeons, I had to click!
Things i didnt realize about wood pigeons... they eat nearly All the food i put out for all the other birds. They crap like a great dane / teradactyl & cost me lots of money in paintwork & new hoods for my car. They make me jump out of my skin whenever I go in the garden. They wake me up landing on my conservatory roof with an almighty thud. They have the most depressing call/ sound, a bit like a bittern ( but they are quite rare). I spend a lot of time cleaning up pigeon crap from garden furniture.. Apart from that... there lovely.
they have a good temperament for a bird. I never thought much about them but have grown to really like their attitude, they do some funny maneuverers in the garden...
I’m really impressed with you channel. I love the short but so informative videos that also have some great footage of the birds. I can see all the hard work you put into the videos. The formula is right and will only improve. I’m subscribed with bell icon activated- very rare for me. Well done!
Thanks for great content. I had an great experience with pigeons in my garden. We had one nesting in a bush. We fenced the bush so our dog wouldn't stress it, and just observed it from a distance. One day, the only young bird had fallen from the nest and was on the grass. Clearly not ready to leave the nest. I tried to put it back in the nest but it was frightened and jumped back out so I let it be. Kept the dog inside and observed. The first couple of days the young bird seemed frightened and hid under vegetation but when we saw the mother (I assume) sitting on our roof and the next day they were both on the grass showing affection this went on for over a week. The young bird in constant bettering and maturing got more mobile so one day it could fly up on the fence and back. A couple of days later it was gone. I assume it made it. The affection displayed by the pigeon really was an eye-opener to me. Nature is awesome
I clicked this video thinking it was about hunting wood pigeons which is something I do plan on doing (sorry!) , But I learnt a lot from it and have a new respect for them! I know it may seem like the two things are mutually exclusive but I have love and respect for all animals I eat be it those from the super market or fish that I catch!
Wow. My heart lifted reading your pigeon story.

proof: th-cam.com/video/_0oTiRuSrxQ/w-d-xo.html
They sit next to me on bench in Sheffield botanical gardens, eat like a horse and some like being stroked. One landed on my finger the other day which never happened before quite amazed !
I'm so glad I found your channel. I love my wood pigeons, they bring me so much peace.
Welcome to the channel!
There are 2 wood pidgeons that have been coming to my garden and sitting on the fence for over 20 years I'm 33 years old and they have been there my whole life, one day one of them them turned up by itself and looked really sad and wasn't acting how it normally would(there was a big storm so I'm guessing it got seperated somehow because of it), it sit on my fence and on the roof opposite for 4 days waiting (it was heartbreaking seeing it's body language and how sad it looked it wouldn't eat or do anything it was just sitting there looking around in all directions then hanging it's head then falling asleep and repeating)and then the partner appeared I literally saw the partner arrive and they both kind of cuddled each other and rubbing beaks and making their hooting noise. They always work as a pair to eat the food I leave out for other birds, they will first sit on opposite roofs and scan the area for cats for about 10 mins (there's alot of cats in my estate) then they fly down to my fence, and one will stay on the fence looking around while the other knocks down the seeds out of the feeder(they are too big to land on it to eat) then goes up to the fence to look out while the other eats the dropped seeds and they take turns doing this, they come everyday at literally exactly the same time for 20+years ........
Do you sell hatching eggs?
@Missy♡ they'll always find food in cities. From my own observations, the eat berries, cherries, seeds etc. Sometimes I see them nibbling at blades of grass on my lawn. There is no need to feed them, they always manage to find something to eat- the exception being during very cold weather.
Do you mean PEACE or PIECE ?...I've had them curried, baked, steamed and boiled but I've NEVER had one on a sandwich (piece in Scotland)😋😘
Aw😚
They are connected to the spirit world they communication with the other side of life
For me, wood pigeons are comedic.
Never underestimate the power of sunflower seeds!! ;))
I also believe it is almost impossible to sex, although behaviour is a give away when it comes to courting!

I have two that come to my garden that like to sit on the fence and chat away. I put food out for them. They’re called Gertrude and Bertie 😊 there’s also Doris and Norris but they go to my neighbours garden
I used to feed them too, until I saw a 🐀 in the garden 🥴😢
They’re my favourite too! Love from 🏴
Yeah how about that? Half the video describes what we can clearly see. Didn't you know a picture is worth a thousands words?

They are not bad tempered - they are simply protecting their feeding territory 🫶
@@remi_gio Thanks! You are quite right of course. They simply regard everything as their feeding territory. It just appears as though they are bad tempered because they attack every other species as well as each other. Nature is tough and we must resist giving them human epithets.
Thank you for this. I love the sound of the wood pigeon … a really lovely gentle sound

I love wood pigeons. They always look so laid back and harmless. I love to watch them bath in my bird bath made out of a large mixing tray..
They're incredibly laid back.. play them some jazz.... they love it..
I love them especially the way they rise up in flight and then glide downwards. It's so beautiful 🙏🏼❤️
I've had the same wood pigeons in the trees in my garden who've bred there for over ten years and still bringing up young some of who are living near by.
I have three in my garden.I buy monkey nuts and sort the smallest out. They feed in my garden three times a day. I absolutely love them.
Thank you, I didn't know a lot of that-especially about how much they can hold in their crops, and how they drink! We have a friendly one that comes to ask for suet pellets, they're lovely birds.
They are good for my mental health, feeding them and trying to tame one of them.

I love wood pigeons 💗 Beautiful video!
Although music is never a necessity, unless it's a music video😀
When we see the woods and birds, it's nice to enjoy that peace we would've found in these woods, watching these pigeons. Any music spoils this tranquil environment.
That's only my view.
Thank you so much for the information about the milk they make in their throats! I find it so surprising and I can't believe, I didn't know this.
You're amazing! Thanks again. 🦆( there was no pigeon available 😂)
My favourite bird, love the cooing :) Feed them regularly where I live.
their cooing is the sound of my childhood. they can be heard everywhere in my town.

I live in a town with a reasonable sized garden and have up to 16 Wood pigeons on a daily basis. They are great to watch.

I love these birds. Thanks for the info. 🐦❤
You described the everyday scenario on my balcony :D
@Sonia I can't afford to feed them as much now due to the price rises in everything. I sigh sadly typing this remembering the happiness I felt a year ago when I wrote the comment. I love the birds, I love the song of the wood pigeons, love having them around. Funny little guys. Life is difficult now, I hope it gets better one day so I can look after the pigeons again. When we lose touch with the natural world something within us goes quiet.
I send my best wishes to you for noticing my comment and the pigeons. O

My friend, you have done a justice. Thank you and you are always welcome with the pigeons
Live in first floor flat and every time I go on the balcony mr and mrs woody fly down into the garden for peanuts and seeds. Love them visiting.

Adorable innocent creatures. Bless them .
hi I think Woodie's used to live on cliffs by the sea and moved inland. I love your videos Very good stuff found out lots many thanks
Absolutely beautiful and a beautiful call xxx
they have a good temperament for a bird. I never thought much about them but have grown to really like their attitude, they do some funny maneuverers in the garden...
Great series, I really appreciate your videos
Thank you!
They are such beautiful birds, really stunning to watch
I’m really impressed with you channel. I love the short but so informative videos that also have some great footage of the birds. I can see all the hard work you put into the videos. The formula is right and will only improve. I’m subscribed with bell icon activated- very rare for me. Well done!
Thank you and a belated welcome to the channel. I hope you have enjoyed some of the other videos I have uploaded.
I love them they are so fluffy and extremely simpatic
I clicked this video thinking it was about hunting wood pigeons which is something I do plan on doing (sorry!) , But I learnt a lot from it and have a new respect for them! I know it may seem like the two things are mutually exclusive but I have love and respect for all animals I eat be it those from the super market or fish that I catch!
