    I moved to Spain just before the pandemic, and European city lockdowns turned me way off. I went into the countryside and this life is the way to go. I grow my own potatoes, onions, lettuce, carrots, strawberries, garlic, kale, radish, green beans, beans, and I have dozens of chickens that lay organic eggs. I have healthcare and my few country neighbors stay out of my hair. No mass shootings or military. Mind you, the cities here are feeling more and more like US cities. I don’t recommend them.

      Exactly this. I don't understand where this myth about Western Europe having more taxes than the US comes from. Unless you're planning on living in the nonsensical suburban places where you have to cross 2 highways by car to get to a grocery store (or risk starving), the only real places that compare to international standards in the US are the northeast and west coasts. And there, you're basically paying 40+% taxes just like in Europe (the only exception I can think of is Washington), except you still get no healthcare, have tent communities everywhere, get low-quality food with high-fructose corn syrup in everything, the schools are still horrible, and people are still trying to find out what gender they are.

      @PaulJWells 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@CoCody_ It's true that there are few (not always zero) border checks within the Schengen zone but your passport will be checked and stamped when you enter the zone and when you leave. The 90 days applies to the whole zone as if it were a single country. You then have to spend time somewhere else before you can return but this could be a non-Schengen European country like Croatia or Cyprus. The way the rule works is that on any given day you count back 180 days and you are not allowed to exceed 90 of them in the zone. (so two weeks after your first 90 days you could return for two weeks for example.)
