Spice: Melange, a by product of the young Worm lava that, through a natural process, becomes a powerful Hallucinogen that can be used for many things, including allowing the Space Guild to navigate warp space and the Mentats to become human supercomputers, only found on the planet Dune
While I can't recommend the book(s) highly enough, I realize that not everyone likes to read. If that's the case I encourage you to check out some of the very informative videos about the world of Dune on YT. Quinn's Ideas is my favorite, but Nerd Cookies and The Lorebrarians also have great and detailed Dune content. Doc Sloan's Science Fiction Station does the deepest dive into the books (the guy has a literal PhD in Dune!), but his videos are long and kinda dry, so he doesn't appeal to everyone. There's a huge amount the book that had to be left out of the movie, but it's all important to the story and will help flesh out the world we're presented with in the movie.
Dune first novel they split into two films dune part 1 and part 2 the book was released in 1965. The second novel they gonna adapt into dune part 3 the second novel dune messiah was released in 1969. The Dune Saga is 6 novels written by Frank Herbert. Denis Villeneuve is only adapting the first 2 novels into 3 films. There are 6 books in the original saga.
I loved this movie so much when I first saw it on Netflix, a few weeks before the 2nd one came out. I probably watched it 20 times! Then I saw the 2nd one in the theater, then in an IMAX theater the next day! Great reaction as always, Travis!
One of the greatest science fiction book serie of all ! The Dune saga, comparable to the Lord of the Rings or Foundation SF book serie. 6 original books from 1963 to 1965 from Frank Herbert. This movie is half of the first books over the 6 books. But the son Brian Herbert, with the Star wars writer Kevin J. Anderson) continues and expands the story later. We have 22 books for now in the entire Dune saga.
Can't wait to see your reaction to part two. I could see your mind working when you were trying to figure out the lady talking to Lady Jessica in the beginning. She plays Queen Charlotte in Bridgerton lol I'm sure someone has probably told you by now.
You are in my top 3 guys to watch shows with. It would be number one but it's more of a rotating circle than an actual peak. Dune was out starting in the mid 60's with a bunch of books by Frank Herbert. I believe his son took over writing the books at some point. There was also a 1984 movie, Dune, which wasn't bad once you figured out what was going on. I didn't understand that movie until the third time I watched it. This movie Dune was great but I remember at the end thinking where is the rest of the story? I didn't know it was Part 1. I haven't seen Part 2 yet but I know the story and am looking forward to it once I can get it free on my TV soon.
This movie was called Dune Part One. So yes, there is another one. Dune, the BOOK....... Is super famous. Is what so many other stories were based. Notably Star Wars. But Also Game of Thrones amongst others. This movie was about a 1/3 of the book. Part 2 finishes the book. But there are 6 books in the main series. A 3rd movie is being worked on based on the second book. Dune Messiah. Thanks for your reaction. It would be wise to rewatch this movie if you are going to react to Part 2. Part 2 picks up exactly from the moment this one ends. Is really one movie. Just shown in 2 parts.
@@TravisViews No. It was shown 2 years before Part 2 came out. I saw Part 1 on opening day in theater. It definitely said Dune.... Part One in opening title.
Marketing went out of its way to hide it was Part One. Only people who followed production knew it will only cover half the book. Most regular people bought tickets for DUNE and only the opening title told them it was PART ONE. All ads and posters etc only marketed it as DUNE.
@@spacebetween42 Well, what some people interpret as "hidden". Others interpret as not paying attention. Part of "marketing" is all the interviews Denis had long before a single shot was filmed. He always said his Dune was going to be split into 2 movies. But if people did not know. They did not know. ..... Not knowing is very common these days.
Can’t wait to see what other movies you will be reacting too! 🙏🙏🙏 I have so many suggestions but it would make this comment way too long lol 😂 So. Cal girl here and love your channel! 🙏🙏🇺🇸👋👏
Loved your reaction as always. You should watch society of the snow. It's a great movie and I would love to hear what you have to say about that one. If you do watch it I recommend the original language with subtitles, the acting was amazing

"Is there another one?" Is . . . there . . . EVER.

17:28 The housekeeper who gave Lady Jessica the knife is Queen Charlotte from Bridgerton
Funny how you thought it was a video game, I've played Dune 2 long before reading the novels.
