Id like to add onto the conversation about board fittings at skate shops. I love the idea. Maybe a range of different sized set-ups. Like 7.75, 8.0, 8.25, 8.5 etc. Then the customer could stand on the board and see if that size feel comfortable. Trucks and wheel would be difficult due the variation of products.
When I'm at the shop looking for a new deck, I always ask, if I put it on carpet, can I stand on a board I want to buy. That's a good test. Only once did someone say no. So they missed that sale.

I skated the courthouse stage for the first time a few months back... That thing is no joke! My goal was to kickflip manny it, all I could squeeze out was one ollie manny, granted I was on an 8.5, 149's and 53mm conical fulls.. When I go back I'm bringing a smaller board.
I wouldn't worry so much about the keyboard warriors. Just understand that your audience is very broad - from kids over teenagers to guys like you and me in their forties or fifties. And not every episode can talk to every group of people, to every demographics. There's gonna be interesting stuff for teenagers and there's gonna be interesting stuff for older guys. To me, the talk about money and saving in skateboarding was very insightful. Again, as Chris often says, it's about timing. For some kids, it's not the right time to listen to that. But for others it is. I am thankful that the show has so much variety. Keep it up ol' buddies!

You can be the best skater in the world, but if certain other skaters or people in the industry don't like you, it won't matter how good you are. This was especially true in the 80s/90s/2000s when skating was a giant high school complete with its own clubs and cliques. I think it's why a lot of skaters recently have turned to self promotion via social media.

Great conversation on the board setups at shops. In early 2000s and being tween and being super skinny and not a ton of money, i bought one board and it lasted me like year or two. I wasn’t heavy enough to break boards. Now I know that those boards lost so much pop etc. now that I’m skating again, I’m trying to figure out my setup. Watched the Professor Schmitt episodes and wish he or someone would create some sort of base formula so we can put in some measurements and have a good starting point. That’s all I need a starting point.
Have you heard of Ben Degros? He makes countless videos all about setups, goes in depth on all sorts of measurements such as wheelbase on decks, truck wheelbase, and even has a video on how to find your “Goldilocks” (optimal) setup based on your style and what you want your board to feel like. Recommend checking him out, as I love to nerd out about setups and he is one of the only channels that goes so in depth. Good luck 👍
