Great review. I'll be honest, I haven't read this book since probably 2011or 2012, whenever I got it (I got it later than most), and there was alot you brought up that I didn't remember, beyond the basic premise of the book and the fact that Car'das made a major appearance in it. I remember enjoying it when I read it though. Especially because of how the story of the Outbound Flight Project changed from when we first heard about it in Dark Force Rising, to when this book came out, with all of the prequel era stuff we'd gotten in books and comics once the Prequel Trilogy movies started coming out and how much new information those movies gave us as part of our understanding of this era of galactic history so to speak. We had nothing at the time Zahn wrote his original three books.
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the review. The Prequel setting certainly adds a whole new layer to the material that allowed Zahn to (once again) try and blend the EU more seamlessly into the fabric of George’s work. It’s not perfect, but he does an admirable job.
@@starwarslads Exactly. That's actually why of all the Star Wars authors, Zahn consistently doesn't disappoint with his books. He's not my absolute favourite Star Wars author but he is one of the more consistent ones.
“You could always join Maris and me for the language lessons. Commander Thrawn really is decent company.” “No thanks. You two want to aid and abet a potential enemy, be my guests. Not me.” “These people are not potential enemies, as you’d realize if you’d made any effort to get to know them. They’re very polite and extremely civilized.” “Yeah, well, the Hutts have a civilization, too, or so they say. Sorry, but it’ll take more than good manners to convince me the Chiss are harmless.” -Jorj Car’das, Dubrak Qennto & Maris Ferasi, on the Chiss
Do you think we could get an animated or live action adaptation of this or perhaps a reference or flashback? Seems like it could tie a lot of eras together
We certainly hope that animated Disney+ adaptations of Legends material are on the board one day. As it stands now, the best we can hope for in live-action would be some sort of flashback

Jorj really does feel like a 60's era George Lucas if he ever stumbled into Thrawn!
