@@susannahwhite7561 I saw a screening here in Dallas, one night only. There was someone who wrote or performed some of the music in the crowd, so I think that may be why we had a screening? Not totally sure. But it's beautiful! Enjoy it when you do get to see it.
I did also! That 3 hours inherently made me forget what is going on in the US today. Her last words are still haunting me. I think this is Terrance Malick 's end game & what a masterpiece to be remembered for. This generation, most of my generation likes fast, super natural movies. My mother wouldn't watch it past 5 minutes . I don't believe in God's & what makes this project so profound & powerful is not what they say, its what they don't say. When we film a project, our location scout, offers us ...#1, #2, #3...It seems he didn't pick, he used every location. I had to pause @ the jail. I was there! One of the jail used is in Spain & Spain has that LAW "THE PACT OF FORGETTING" So that anyone who served under Franco, can't be charged w/ war crimes & most Spaniards don't even know abt it! I can't say enough about said movie. I need to find out more abt. Said man!
The film touches us here in the USA as so many are 'conflicted' between 'what is right' and what is expedient to support in politics. I think this film is incredibly timely and will have a great impact of many people who are 'conflicted' . . . . to help them understand that even ONE person's choice is sometimes the difference in what holds a country to civilization instead of handing it over to chaos.
The movie "A Hidden Life" by Terrence Malik tells about Blessed Franz Jagerstatter. It is such a beautiful film, very sumptuous to the eyes not to mention to the soul and spirit.
From today's (Pentecost!) second reading:"(We are) heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if only we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him." - Romans 8:17 This Blessed had a certainty that God would reward him - and his family!- for his faithfulness to Him. Reminds me of the line in A Man for All Seasons, when St. Thomas More says of God, "He will not refuse one who is so blithe to go to Him".
A superb short talk on this inspirational Saint🙏 We need to be inspired by great men like Franz as we endure global communism and our Church leaders are by and large Co-operating with this vile agenda🙏
The oath he was asked to make was to Adolf Hitler not to the Nazis or to protect your country. How beautifully God works, that we have come to know about him is a wonderful, inspiring miracle. Thank you.
No any bishop/pastor would not have done the same, they were weak ecclesiastical leaders .... note Dietrich Bonhoeffer, a German pastor, opposed the regime, and many others, like Helmuth Hübener who was 17 when he was beheaded.
Just saw the movie, A Hidden Life. I can't believe this guy couldn't mutter a few meaningless words and then return to his family. He left his mother, sister, wife and 3 children in destitute in a hostile and isolated environment and he's suppose to be a hero lol.. Half way through the film I kept thinking about Oskar Schindler. What he would have made of Franz...
Yet your catholic faith has strayed so far from the gospel. They openly affirm sin, homosexuality, and you go along with it. Franz would stand in start contract to the faith you hold today, you are a coward for not making a stand and you mock the legacy of Franz.
You are free to hold the idea you have expressed...the church is the people of faith, none of whom are without fault. The institutional church models the best and the worst that people can be. Faith brings us to Christ. Christ leads each one in their faith development. Peace be with you.
I just saw A Hidden Life and can't stop thinking about it. Beautiful, profound film!
Jamison, I saw it wasn't going to come out until Jan. 30. Where did you see it.

You closing arguments are what every Christian should be asking themselves. Thank you for having the courage to say it.

I love how you explained that he is a martyr because of his belief and trust in God, holding for the truth of God.
blessed Franz pray for me
2:42 waw, even the pope
Given the price Franz paid, amongst many others, is it any wonder?

We have our refusal....
This title spoiled me the movie. FUCK

We don't affirm homosexuality what about you read the catechism.
Who ordered his death? Pope Pius XII? The Catholic Churchg celebrated Hitler's birthday every year. Stop kidding yourselves.
Ignorant
Nazis' and Fascists' motto: Always blame someone else for the worst crimes you're guilty of.
Delusional fool. 🤦🏻♀️
????
Get your facts straight. It was Nazi Germany who made Martin Luther's birthday a holiday. The Catholic Church was the arch enemy of the Nazis.
