I sometimes struggle with depression and ptsd from the military and I have to say your videos bring me so much peace. Thank you bro
me too man these videos are so soothing. thanks for your service, means more than we think
This Chanel always bring relax for people friend
Pete Horn 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Thank you for your service!! 💕
J S thank you!
My vote is Yes. More content like this. Rustic looking and delicious.
But why didn’t he just get sea salt by boling sea water??
@@knucklesskinner253 Great idea!
When you first said "I wanna dive here" I thought you said DIE.... and I looked around at the cave and the waves, the beautiful water and thought to myself "yeah, that would be a pretty nice place to go out".
That's what I heard too and I was a bit concerned. Luckily he repeated what he said.
same
Taku: "wtf this dam jelly fish, nearly sht myself"
-plays melodramatic piano music right after
that was hella funny
you do not want that j fish touch your skin they leave a hairy something that will scratch your skin and not be able to remove it normally.
I was half asleep and bursted out laughing when he said that
Me too I started dying lmao
Taku:got any eights?
Jocelyn:go fish
Taku: *brings back an entire buffet of seafood*
Yessir that is correct
Lmao he said “ wtf this damn jelly fish “ I’m dying I replayed that part 2x 🤣
You can eat jellyfish!!
I was literally gonna post the same thing "LMAO when he said wtf this damn jelly fish" the feeling is universal. Now we know what breaks Taku's cool
It's cause his voice-over voice is so soft and soothing. You'd never expect it.
Haha same
For real. Way that voiceover was done was hilarious.
Hey bro, I’m from the U.K. and I love your videos, I have really bad anxiety and depression, I always come to your videos to help me relax and disconnect from all the shit happening in my life, keep up the good work bro I have loved watching you grow.
Same, always good to chill out and enjoy these.
Same here, aspergers (autism spectrum), don't like to go/be outside because there's loads of people...can't stand it. These videos help me too to "disconnect" from that crazy stuff outside. We'll manage, just try to be safe in your "safe spot", nothing wrong with that! (and i don't mean that covid shite). When shit hits the fan, we just go hide in our safe shell/little cave, only to come out when the waters calm down (and people stop poking us). You're not alone!
I have been watching for like 2 years now. I remember when you quit the sushi place for youtube and I remember the first time you used those same pots and pans with the green handles that u did camping in this video. I remember the first time you went diving with some people on the channel and now ur comfortable enough to go solo even if it was in a small cove. Your video production has gotten so much better and just everything. I am so excited for you to get more viewers. Keep the amazing content coming!
Im terrified of the ocean and your videos have really inspired me to try and conquer my fears. Last time i went to the beach i got about knee deep without freaking out! (I also got stung by a jellyfish and didnt cry) Im pretty proud of myself even if it doesnt seem like a huge milestone
Taku, "Jocelyn is watching me from above." You've got an angel looking out for you! Schweet!
When she said "jump" lmao!
i didn’t hear that part 😭😭

Next time you head overseas, you should meet up with Craig Evans, who does coastal foraging in Wales. Another one of my favorite channels.
Craig Evans is so knowledgeable in his foraging videos. A must see.
Craig is one of the reasons I started my channel. I used to comment on his videos and told him I do similar stuff in California and was thinking about starting a channel. He replied to me saying he wanted to see what we can harvest here so I should start it. And here we are today!
@@OutdoorChefLife damn thats awesome id love to hear a sit down episode with your origin story and inspirations what gave you the love of foraging and cooking and fishing and the ocean
Outdoor Chef Life that's amazing! Keep doing this. You've inspired me to learn more about east coast fishing and foraging where I live.
I saw Taku commenting on Craig Evans videos.
THIS is what sets Taku apart from the other youtubers. Bringing his creativity as a chef and seeing what he makes on the fly. Keep doing what you are doing!
I recently left the military, alot if the depression and struggles. Many of the painful moments follow. Yet watching these just makes me excited again and feeling fresh. Thanks so much much your videos. Helps with me during my hard time trying to rejoin society properly. Thank your beautiful soul
Hang in there. Thank you for your service. I cope with depression and anxiety as well.
Taku: Wow .This fish is so blue
Fish : I can’t breathe
HAHA
It is truly amazing to see people like yourself with the level of knowledge, care, and respect for ocean life. From sustainable practices, to helping to maintain some balance in the ocean like harvesting the purple urchin more, it all goes a long way.
Taku your presentation is top notch!! I guess you being a Sushi chef and all! You should swap the crank handle to the left side of the reel...cast with the right hand crank with left hand! Jus'sayin'...
LOL that jellyfish though
The smoke and the kelp must add incredible flavor. Then add the smoked uni!! My shoes would taste good with that on it.
You’ve mastered so much within the years I’ve been following your channel. The time and dedication you put in is much appreciated. Thanks to you to Jocelyn 🥰
I’m always down for foraging videos, it’s actually surreal how many plants we have here in Australia that you are foraging in Cali. And wow - that purple urchin is insane! Definitely eat a tonne of purple uni!
I love videos like these because we get to see 3 separate meals. Watching you cook is a reflection of yourself and I feel like we all get to know you a bit better every video!
Watching your videos reminded me of when my wife and I used to tent camp and stuff. We used that exact same REI tent too. We continued to use the tent until my wife got pregnant. Now all I can say is enjoy the outdoors while you can. Kids change EVERYTHING. EV.ER.Y.THING. The only catching I do is up on sleep when I can. I live vicariously through your videos good sir. Keep up the great content!
Ya those camping tents sure can get a gal pregnant...
That underwater footage is amazing. Your brave to go down there, must be a thrill. I imagine Jocelyn is also holding her breath but above water waiting for you to pop your head up lol. Fun video, thank you!
The perfect van life couple! Cannot wait to see the new content/adventures/dishes!
The Jellyfish 'what the BLEEP' made me die laughing 😂😂😂😂😂
Surprised the water didn't turn brown lol
Pocket Picker reel ese rteretet retest retr re ete we love
I really appreciate these videos Taku, they've helped rekindle my passion for nature and cooking this year. It's great that you are touching on the overabundance of the urchins and how they are destroying the kelp forests. The Elakha alliance is trying to get sea otters reintroduced in Oregon and other parts of the west coast. The sea otters are the natural predators for these urchins and since the otters have been wiped out, the urchins are taking over. If anyone is interested in helping I encourage them to check out the Elakha Alliance website for more information.
So let me get his straight:
He's a hunter, gatherer, and the cook. Damn, You inspire me bro. Keep doing what you're doing!
You're living the life Taku! watching your vids really help me be less depressed from all the BS that's going on with life and this whole pandamic thing....Stay safe and keep the vids coming Please!
Loved it man! Something just feels great when you can make a meal from what nature provided. I'd love this as a series kind of thing. I've been doing this kind of thing my whole life, practice makes better.
The jellyfish part 😂 Keep these videos coming, Taku and Jocelyn!!
Another rad video. The diving looks so calming and serene, I miss it so much.
Agreed with everyone else. I enjoyed every bit of this video, but my favorite part is the underwater footage with that relaxing piano music & narration!❤ Definitely so soothing & relaxing being able to live through you & your awesome adventures. Keep it up bro!
I can't put my finger on why I love your channel.
Just kidding!
Here is my top 4!
1. You are an excellent fisherman/Forager.
2. You are a kick ass chef.
3. You are an excellent cinematographer/Editor!
4. You and Jocelyn are a great team!!
Love you guys, keep making more videos!!!
8:54 when the spot is so majestic, "you know what? I think Im gonna die here, I wanna die here.
"This guy is so blue on the inside"
Can relate
Name doesnt check out
Really nice guy
I'm blue dabadidabadi
18:44-18:45
the whole diving footage and drone shots were incredible. your production quality is proceeding past the quality of typical catch and cook videos!! keep up the good work!
100% agree with success, camping, fishing, free diving and putting it all together for youtube to get paid. Doing what you love, success.
I'd pay a good amount to have him be my guide and take me through an experience of being an outdoor chef...
this guy makes some top quality stuff
Love the slow Mo editing... Great video! Foraging/catch and cook is one of my fav type of content
two humble n pleasant people.
That was a moon jelly. They're beautiful and harmless!
When the apocalypse happens, I want to go with Taku & Jocelyn!
He sounds so pure it puts a smile on my face when he was explaining diving for crabs
Dibs on the fish lips! I'm disabled with Neuropathy from my back down and I'm off my feet lying down about 90 to 95 percent of my days. I agree with some of the other commentors here that these videos give me a lot of peace and entertainment. I used to be the outdoorsman, hunting, fishing and cooking but those days are gone for me. Keep up the great entertainment!
This content is so soothing! Great evolution and kudos to the quality!
Let me know where you harvested that beer from was it a tree or bush? 😂 Another great vid!
Yeah, everything tastes better with some wild harvested brewskis. But I might have added a bunch of those mussels I saw on the rocks earlier...that is, if they were in season.
Naw they grow in the ground😂
He lost the video of the flock of wild IPAs when he formatted his GoPro
@@angrylittlespider_9701
Wow, I hope there's no bag limit on wild IPAs or I'm in big trouble!
Could do more camping videos? These are always enjoyable to watch. The aerial shots and the music make it that much better. It just great watching you guys enjoy life!
yessss more diving and relaxing music with those voiceovers, this was WONDERFUL
This was fun to watch. Definitely do more of these forage, catch and cook videos.
That’s all he does
I hope you try this again! Would love to see what more you can catch and create
One of the great things about your videos is you always talk about how to do this stuff safely!
More please, maybe a colab, competition?
Any takers?
I see no issues finding "SALT" when he's facing the ocean? =D
So true😂😂😂
It actually takes a lot of time to desalinate sea water into sea salt. You need a lot of sea water for a little bit of salt. Its not something you can just do on a whim.
@@georgiegan Wrong. I don't know why people spew misinformation without looking it up. 2 cups of seawater boiled off would have produced enough salt to salt his dish. 12 cups will produce 100 grams. See this video in which the guy does it, or dozens of other vids. th-cam.com/video/gZQbQohCEW0/w-d-xo.html
Lewis and Clark did pounds and pounds of it. It did take 2 man teams all winter though.
Iron Chef: Outdoor Chef Life Edition. 👍🏽
I have rewatched this a few times now. Admittedly, i skip past most of the diving. :'] You could have made a full second video from this one!
Seriously though, my husband and I LOVE your videos, and we absolutely loved this one! This is the kind of stuff I wanna see more of! Please do more of these challenges! :D
Much love to you and Joce! 💚💚💚
One of my favorite videos for sure, Taku! Such great camera work and chill vibes. I loved the underwater shots. Your plating at the end was amazing too btw. No way I could be that creative.
Good to see some of that kelp coming back. Those urchins are ecosystem destroyers around here man 😣
We need our otters back
This man really made a quilt out of kelp that’s so cool
Try saying "quilt out of kelp"four times.... 😬
This guy awesome too friend
Blessed with a 30+ minute video, thank you Taku! I'll enjoy every minute
Ok gotta pause halfway through... your cinematography and music selection in this video were TOP NOTCH! You have really upped your game in your video productions! Always enjoy your content... cheers from a landlocked fan!

"you know what I think i'm might die here, I wanna die here."
Yo I heard the SAME THING
No better place to die 👌
Lolol
I heard that too I was like damn dude hope that's not a short term plan
I better delete my comment ahhhh you beat me to it 😂
Looking at that cave, am I the only geek screaming " goonies!" and " buried treasure"!
Just me?
I love seeing the environment, it's gorgeous!
Thank you!
Goonies is one of my fave movies!!!
23:15 That monologue for the next minute gives us some understanding of how you like it :D
Man I’ve been following you for quite some time, I believe when you only had around 25k or so subscribers. It’s amazing to see how much your channel/following has grown! I still enjoy your videos to this day, keep em comin! 🙏
That jelly fish came outta no where😂 even I jumped💀
Man can’t wait to live at the sea in Hokkaido and catch my fishes. Thanks for the inspiration!
Hokkaido has great deer hunting. Look up this channel: vitrovoice
leo ll I have seen it but you are not allowed to hunt really in japan only if you spend a lot of money to get a license and now hunting is prohibited to... buy thanks for the heads up
@@McMikeful I don't think hunting is prohibited, its just hard to get firearms in Japan.
@@leolldankology sorry autocorrect "bow hunting"
That part around 14 min was so nice and relaxing and trippy to see the waves crashing along with beat of music
You are so original I'll watch this over alot of channels any day. Love the way you keep it interactive with both your fishing and cooking
Looks like you've lost a bit of weight Taku, good on ya.
Love your cooking style maybe you can come to the island of Kauai on day!
This is your best video YET. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Come up to Tomales Bay Area and do some classes on what is out here and edible!
This is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen!!! 😍 its like our ancient ancestors meals only what you find and some experimenting with different things. Its a throw back to a simpler time when food and shelter were the major concerns! Love it
Could you boil the seawater for salt?
Hahaaaa I knowww where they are!!! Right when I saw that cave
Would you be willing to share or message me where this place is?
@@neilshieh4888 it’s Fort Bragg, CA
This is one of my favorite channels! Each video is fun, relaxing, and even better, educational. I always learn something from each video, whether it be about the ocean, the forest, fishing, foraging. I especially like videos about harvesting seaweed, something I'd like to do in the future. It's sustainable, healthy, delicious, and you learn about the ocean while you're doing it.
Definitely do another video just the thought of camping and self reliance makes the video content 100% better, a true outdoor experience.
I love this video. You guys have "slept in" hair. 😉
“I think i wanna die here, its nice and calm, shallow”
Me: uh, what?
*puts diving gear on*
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh
Beautiful scenery in this video! I felt so calm watching the fish swim 🐟
Bruh!!! Only a true chef and lover of nature/outdoors could come up with the meal plan! Awesome video!
I think you could dip the food in the saltwater for salt.
Yes you can
or just boil the water out
That's why sea otters are so important; they control urchin populations so kelp forests thrive.
I really liked this video and especially the piano music when you filmed the fish while free-diving.
You really inspire me to try new things. Thank you 🙏🏼
Your video is so breath taking. The music you chose to accommodate the imagery is so appropriate and peaceful. Amazing video!
Can you do a collab with J. Kenji Alt Lopez? I would die a happy man.
Good suggestion
“not even salt”
me:ITS BIG BRAIN TIME
*uses salt water to cook.*
You guys are my favorite to watch on all of TH-cam. Thank you 🙏 maybe I’ll see you guys one day while I’m fishing in Cali 🤙🏼🤙🏼
This was a great idea! Would LOVE to see more of these meals that are 100% harvested. Makes you think about how we all once must have lived.
I skipped the part where you caught the beers.
You didn’t catch that beer
Hi bbc
GREAT CONTENT!!!!!! camping with youuuu and longer vlogs yes!!!!!!! Makes comfort during quarantine sending love
Yes! That was fun to watch, cooking only harvested food. Would love to watch another episode like that. Thanks !

I must say, the underwater part was amazing. Truly a blessing to be alive and this conveyed just that. Cheers
this channel makes me hungry.. :')
"This guy is so blue on the inside" , aren't we all Taku?
was not expecting that calming diving session
please do more of the forging and cook, excellent, content keep it up
