There is no British or U.K. education system. Scotland for instance has a different system to what he has described. For example in Scotland you start Primary School at four or five years old (depending on when your birthday falls) and that class is called Primary One and goes through to Primary Seven, then you go to High School which is then First through to Sixth Year with qualification exams happening in Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Year. You can then go onto work, a training scheme, college or university. (College and University are not interchangeable names for the same thing anywhere in the U.K.)
