thats why we had oil painters before photographs were invented :) if youre good enough, oil painting looks so real. it was the best we could do before we had cameras
OMG when I see your painting and especially the water..I was so exciting and couldn't believe...So love what are you doing.I only started painting and you already give so much...thanks!
How can someone dislike it? It's unbelievably majestic. Sounds like light diffuses pervading nature in a mystic radiance, you can feel the fresh calm flowing of a spring river, you could even guess to see the transparency of the waters over the pebbles and sense the muted shadow temperature on the skin for the point of view is under the branches, rather than the warm rays of the sun in distance, on the meadow... In its sublimity, it's natural and simple. Astonishing, Sir!
Thank you for your free tutorials . I sat watching you yesterday for hours. I am 81 but have experience bits and pieces of art, My son is an artist. When he was in the kindergarten. They told me will be talents. Yes he is still doing art. I have an art piece he gave me of him doing trees. You are very detailed . I watched you do those detailed leaves. Such patience you have. I get you clear on my laptop.
Thank Michael James Smith for posting your videos...I really enjoy watching you paint...everything about the videos in itself are just fantastic...your dialogue...the music...and watching you paint...I really watch all of them ...the first thing I do when I have my morning tea is watch your vids. God bless you...
Thanks very much for sharing your techniques. I am a 35 year on again off again oil painting artist and I have learned so much in the past 2 weeks. I paint during the winter mostly and I will adapting most all of your instruction to help myself hone in my own style and creativity.
I have never had opportunity to take art classes, now I am watching your tutorials and I am learning soooo much! Thank you! You are explaining everything well and showing how you do it and how you mix the colors. Very well done. Much appreciated. I admire your talent. And thank you that you share with us.
Love all your tutorials Michael. You make it look so simple by the way you take the time to explains so much. I am so happy that I can get back to painting after many years away from it thanks to you. BJ
Awww MEMORIES. Looks similar to the riverbank passing thru my old neighbourhood. Was always in that river... HEY PICTURE, TIME T JUMP IN... here goes.... Nature captured beautifully.
You made believe that 5 years of studying art was useless, I just had to watch you painting, and that would be the real art studying... unbelievable man 👏👏👏
Amazing. Sir you are a priceless, state of the art printer. I can't believe it's a near perfect picture of some place taken somewhere. Truly a mirroring gift from the creator.
This is the first tutorial video that I’ve watched a year ago the first time I came across your channel but I still like to go back and re watch it again . It’s very relaxing and I’m learning alot
Adore it! I never, ever buy paintings, but this is the kind of thing I would buy and hang on my wall if I could afford it :) And if it hung there I would never get anything done, because I would stop in front of it every time I saw it and just look at the details. They are like hidden secrets. "Oh look! The artist actually painted a highlight on that tiny leaf", etc. Love, love, love the level of detail. I look forward to seeing more!
Superb, superb, superb!!!!........well Sir you certainly have the magic touch!!!......I've just watched a painting come alive especially when you added little flecks of white on the reeds..its genius handiwork.... Just brilliant!!!!...if people thumb down this than they must be extremely jealous.......this is genius of the highest skill as far as I'm concerned.
I love the painting, I love the video and I love how you paint. You're a good artist. I wish I could paint half as good. I'm going to keep trying though. LOL
Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhh.......sooooooo beautiful....astonishing.......breathtaking.....i want to jump in the water..cool my feet..swim...spetter spat!!!aaaaaaaaahhhhhhh........!!!a BIG applaus for you....🎆🎇✨🎆
Really amazing. Also enjoyed your choice of music edited into the video. Just wish you'd given the musicians credit for using them so the rest of us could look them up!
Commenter339 I concur Really lovely music.Perfect to listen to,while watching nature being created. We are so blessed to be in these modern times.A positive,in such a negative thinking world.
Hi Michael, I'm mesmerized watching the amount of detail you use! Love it, because I like to paint detail too... Just a question: could we use the same techniques on bigger canvasses? (Sorry.... I'm self taught...)
I never thought about a painting should reach such a degree of perfection. More than 30 years ago, when I was a kid, my grandmother had a painting depicting a blacksmith, some domestic animals and a beautifully painted tree. But your scenary is so beautiful as such. (It was Blacksmith shop painting by Paul Detlefen)
Michael I love your paintings. And I enjoy watching you paint and it takes some of your techniques and I tried to imply them into my paintings so that I may become a better painter. I've only just started about maybe 6 months ago but I am striving to become better. Thank you for sharing your videos.
William Alexander was one of my favorites, along with Bob Ross. I was inspired by their personality and their approach to the canvas. I recently viewed your painting, and immediately subscribed to your channel. I paint sawblades and old milk cans...handsaws etc. The realism of your visual likeness,is masterful techniques is truly amazing and I would like to say,...I have a new inspiration and appreciation for the brush and mediums. Thank you for sharing your talent with us,..look forward to each and every video to come.
Felicidades. Que bonito trabajo. Es una combinación de claros oscuros llenos de color intercalados. Fantástica idea. Muy lindo quedó la pintura o su paisaje. Hermoso cuadro.
Awsome!!! I grew up with a river very near our house, I inmediately remebered how it feels to be in a river like that, specially the part under the trees and I noted there is one very important thing missing: the leaves on the water. In places like that, there are always leaves floating on the water being dragged with the flow. It has A LOT of trees and leaves on those trees but not a single leaf on the water. The painting is awsome and the water looks sooo real, nice work.
I am shocked by the realistic details of your painting. There are no words to describe how beautiful and unique your art is!
It looks extremely realistic. Like it's a photography instead of a painting. Very beautiful, and detailed, especially the water.

OMG...….The light off the water is unbelievable. You capture running water so well.
♥😍
I am amazed to see the level of detailing going on in this piece. All your work are so detailed, so crisp, clear. Great work!!

So nice to see an artist who also paints what he actually sees, lovely.

You have to be the most realistic painter I've seen. Your sense of scale, natural light and nature's colors are amazing. Keep 'em coming.
