For the follower with excessive knee flexion, you mentioned she has to go to an almost straight position of the knees. Is this for aesthetics, or is there a functional reason for this? Also, flexed knees makes her more stable, so is it much harder for the follower to maintain a stable position with straight knees?

Thank you for your comment! If you watch Tango Video Analysis Part 1, I go over different strategies people use for poor balance. One of those strategies is to flex (bend) the knees. I see a lot of followers bending their knees because they cannot balance well in a high heel. It is helpful to practice in leggings or shorts so that all these compensations are exposed so that you can work on them. I would also encourage women to wear lower heels for better technique and less pain. And yes, going through a straight (but not locked) knee position when collecting has better aesthetics and takes pressure off the knees in heels. However, you can purposely exaggerate knee flexion for an embellishment during collection; usually seen in a step like an ocho. I hope this clarifies!
