I left Marple in 1973, aged 9, but still remember that amazing playground around the station and canal. These pictures are just like being back there. And the piano works as a brilliant soundtrack.

I remember during the very early 60’s my mum had taken my brother and I to see relatives and we had to get the train back from High Lane station. It was a cold and dark night with snow forecast and the station master came into the waiting room to tell us that the train was running late. He was so kind to us and brought soup out for my brother and I. Such a great memory of kindness that I will never forget. The lovely station has long gone.

That is a lovely story and heart warming. There is still good in our world. All the best Tim.

For my brother and me. Not I. Your trying to be posh. But it's wrong.

@@johnbishop5316 So Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, when she formerly used her famous phrase "My husband and I" was in fact misusing The Queen's English herself? lol. A somewhat pedantic and mean spirited attempt to police the niceties of English Grammar: which not only fails but is tragically further undermined by an inability to spell "you're" correctly!
Also: it is ungrammatical to start a sentence with the word "But". Hope this is of some help to you.
(Edit): PS...in my humble experience, only chavs use the word "posh". Anyway, very best wishes to you, my dear fellow :)

@@IDIOCRACY_IS_NOW Thank you so much much for your thoughtful offering. My husband and I is perfectly OK. The Queen retained her fine command of the language. They are both the subject of the sentence and there is no preposition. You may relax on that one. Thanks for correcting my mistake on the spelling of you're. I see I have recruited you to the good cause of being a custodian of the language. Keep up the good work. Mean spirited? Me? Surely not? Only posh people say posh. Chavs refer to them as "up market."

Why was this line closed? It doesn’t make sense to close through routes. Loads of senseless railway closures around the country, Colne to Skipton being another example. Love the rendition of Wonderful World too.

Nice video but the Poyton station @ 2.07 - 2.11 are not on the MBMR, but are the LNWR station on the Cheadle Hulme - Stafford line.

Is the station at 1:55 Middlewood upper? I was always intrigued how you accessed it and the Middlewood lower station beneath which I think can be seen in 2:03 with the DMU going over the viaduct above the Manchester to Buxton line

Nice video but the images moved on too fast not allowing enough time to view . I remember travelling on the Bollington / Marple line as a child.

Yes they do change quickly as I had so many to fit into the length of the music. You can pause it to have a longer look at the images but then that does break the flow.
