I bought one for £40 from the Car Boot new. Tuned it to within an inche of it's life and was getting 50 good 11.5 ft'lb shots from it and some very good groups. The two bad points that required the most fettleing were the trigger and the transfer port was not drilled in line or clean through.
Thanks for these videos, i have managed the disassembly and am confident this video will lead me through rebuilding it once the seals come .... thanks again
Great set of videos. I have owned just about everything and my XS 78 is tops. I can hit things, standing, that I wouldn't even attempt with my Weihrauch due to it being so heavy. Fantastic rifle especially when you consider the price.
Thanks Rich' It was an exercise just to show firstly, how easy it is to service these rifles, and secondly how easy it is to personalise one. Not everyone is a "hunter" wanting to camo everything. Obviously this is no hunting rifle.....
I could say "what do you expect" But in fairness, for what they cost they are bloody good value, and are tuneable. A good value gun and a lot of fun. They aint no Daystate, but they aibt trying to be.....
Hi NitroGary01, sorry to bother you but I don't suppose you have a video showing how you go about doing the de-gas hole? I know this comment is long over due but I've just found my old qb78dl in the loft. Thanks for your time.
Hi I realise it’s an old video but hopefully Gary is still monitoring, I am reassembling my TH78D but when the video gets to the bit where the breech is being reattached to the gas tube it jumps forward and Gary is suddenly holding the attached parts with the trigger attached as well, any chance the missing bit could please please be added as I am completely stuck, it’s around the six minute mark, many many thanks
How do you fix a gas leak on this gun !? .... as I have a . Smk super grade sx78 .22 .... and every time you pull the trigger the gas leaks out ? .. by the top where u load the pellets in ! A video on that would be helpful....
There should be a tiny rubber seal just where the pellet probe enlarges. So it seals the barrel to probe fit when the bolt is forward. Hope this helps.
That looks interesting. I'm thinking about an XS78 as a project. Really like what you did there.

You need to drill a 6mm hole 75mm from the rear of the gas tube at about 10 o'clock, looking from the rear of the tube

Hi great video I've got the same air rifle but when I put gas in its leaking any suggestions thank you
Probably the small seal between the gas tube and the barrel. If it leaks once the caps have pierced, it is probably the valve assembly
the silver cylindrical assemble at 2:40
Thanks, now i subscribe
