What a pity that so many people decide they don't like country music and they write it off never having listened to it. I think I've seen some conversions as a result of people having listened to this song. BTW, Josh, Tennessee Whiskey is referring to Jack Daniels which is distilled in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Since you are teetering on the brink of actually coming to LIKE country music (gasp) try some Vince Gill: "Go Rest High on that Mountain" or "When I Called Your Name" or "Pocket Full of Gold" and if you feel that you are getting bogged down on sad songs try Ray Stevens "It's Me Again, Margaret" or "Mississippi Squirrel Revival" or John Conlee "I Don't Remember Loving You". Another beautiful country song is Roger Miller and Willie Nelson "Old Friends". I subscribed because I am hoping I can see you react to some of these songs. I live in Nashville, also known as the "Country Music Capital of the World" or as "Music City USA" or as "Home of the Grand Ole Opry" and I'm not sure but I think it's the law here that you MUST like country music. You might want to try some Johnny Cash, Folsom Prison or Hurt; Willie Nelson, Whisky River or Seven Spanish Angel, ft. Ray Charles; and Steve Earle, Copperhead Road. I would also include Garth Brooks, The Dance or Thunder Rolls, but it's hard to find an original of him singing these songs on here. Of course, few are going to be quite as good as Stapleton if you don't especially like country mudic.

You might want to try some Johnny Cash, Folsom Prison or Hurt; Willie Nelson, Whisky River or Seven Spanish Angel, ft. Ray Charles; and Steve Earle, Copperhead Road. I would also include Garth Brooks, The Dance or Thunder Rolls, but it's hard to find an original of him singing these songs on here. Of course, few are going to be quite as good as Stapleton if you don't especially like country mudic.

Brilliant reaction. One of the best interpretations I've seen. This is the only song he sings that he didn't write. But he has so many more good ones. He was a song writer before he was a performer. But he changed this song by singing it his way. The originals pale in comparison.
