One of very few videos on TH-cam with Questlove chopping out a bit...just the fact that he can do this (and more) and very rarely does - almost always keeping it extremely simple..earns him huge respect from me
Agreed, the Kit's probably an Absolute/Custom Maple. I hear he likes maple :). His snare looks like some type of brass 3.5" Piccolo Snare (The lugs look similar to Yamaha's David Garibaldi Signature Snare Drum). He's got loads of different snares for different situations though. He seems pretty OCD about getting the perfect sound haha. Hope this helps.
the snare is a brass or bronze 14"x4". the solo he plays in the beginning is a variation of the classic max roach "the drums also walts" ?uestlove is one of the most innovative drummers to come out in the past 30 years or so.
That drumset sounds great. Lots of reverb... is that from the room?? Is that a maple custom? I'm really interested in the snare he uses... what kind of snare does he use??
that's my biggest problem with quest. i love him, i have him tattooed on my arm, but whenever he solo's or freestyles, he's plays as a drummer he's not. he's a hip hop drum machine, he can play the sexiest breaks ever recorded nicer than the original drummers, but when he tries to play full-kit rock solos he either fucks up, doesn't fill it up at all or plays painfully slow. the styles he tries to play are way more boring than the music he records, i don't get why he doesn't just do a questlove break solo.
That guitar and that snare talking 🔥🔥🔥
Im a drummer and a huge fan of Quest, but I must say i enjoy his groove, which is amazingly smooth and creative, much more than his solo.
much love
Heaviest waltz ever heard!
LOVE THAT MACHINE GUN - HENDRIX COVER
How does that even WORK!?! Tuba Rock, new genre right there.
Quest gets the most love but all three of them are amazing in this.
Simply Fantastic
how this only has 22K views is beyond me. Brother ?uestion kills this!
Just to good
Awesome guys!
that kick!!!!!!

perfect, even the goosebumps
Never seen ?uestlove Solo like that before. I love it!
such a funky beat. Love 5:45
Yeah, definte nod to Max Roach. "The Drum also Waltzes" comes to mind. I dig it!
Badass.
That was a poetic solo
this was a well executed solo
so epic..
OMG Questlove is quoting Max Roach's "the drum also waltzes!!!" so hip to pay tribute to the master!!1
This is also in Pearts solo, of course its origin is Max Roach, also echoed by Bonham.
@goldensleeves it's a Yamaha SD493 Piccolo Brass Snare and it's tuned pretty high to create that punchy and smooth sound!

I love you quest 😂😂😂
Ridonculous!!
That Solo sounds like Max Roach inspired!

In fact its probably a brass piccolo snare and mca
looks like a maple custom absolute, and copper piccolo snare
What questlove did in the beginning was spoken word.
getting neil peart vibes from the kick and hats
i think its a phx drum set, with a copper snare, sounds phat :)
kirk douglas is such a badass too
Thats sounds like part of Moby Dick John Bonham solo (Led Zeppelin).
It is The Drum Also Waltzes by Max Roach. Bonhamwould often quote it in Moby Dick. He was a big Max Roach fan.
yep
Nice with Jimi Hendrix Machine Gun at 4:57.

Supersonic bass kick at 3:50
omg dude, you're already online, google it
Why is the snare not available anymore?
like like like like like
The sticks look like toothpicks in his hands
That's because he's a big guy who uses 7a Drumsticks .... he has his own Signature Drumstick now?
Damn, Kapt Kirk Can play!!!
Tuba players is like "...ox...Oxygen!" 😵
matching sweatshirts, dancing tuba guy?!... its so wrong, yet so right
the reverb is added, nothing to do with the room or the set i guess
Sounds like Hendrix's Machine Gun
like a hip hop art blakey

wanted to be the first disliker but i couldn't
The tuba doesn't work.
I disagree. I think it works better than most people think.
@@TarekMurray3 You might think that but that doesn't make it true.
perfect, even the goosebumps
