Marie, that small spade you fished out, could be a coal shovel from an old steam boat. Thats just typical of you Peakys, go out and beat Nigel, he's usually the one to get multiples, but this time you really surpassed yourselves, firstly Marie with the bags of cutlery and then oh so many conservancy plaques, wowee. If its black jet, it comes from Witby that plate looks Persian.
This is a very special video. So nice to see Glen and Marie working together and finding those amazing tags. Marie you are very wise and generous to all. Glen I just love to see you excited as I can see the little boy in you come out! You remind me of my grown up son! So very happy for the two of you!!!! Sending love from across the pond!!!!
Great finds my friends, 38 boat tags, unbelievable. Thank you for the history inserts Marie, your voice is a blessing for the voiceovers, clear and pleasing. Thanks for the videos. All the best from Australia 👍🇦🇺
I also really like the fact you Explain what your findings are and the historical Story behind them. I really appreciate that you take the time to do that.
Wow what a Mega Haul of boat tags, so glad for you both. You guys put so much effort into each and every video and Marie with her wonderful history lessons. You really deserve to have such great finds.
Finally got to finish watching this. Love Marie's excitement. and Laughing that that is a cannon stuck in the ground behind ya. Ha ha.. imagine pulling that out of the water. Wonderful how you all share your finds. Nicola's laugh is great. So much fun and laughter. Thanks for sharing. Stay safe. (always love the finds portion)
Simply another great video Great finding all of those boat plaques And the history behind them amazing Please keep up your good hard work In keeping our rivers and streams Cleaner
You can learn alot about the boat tags are wonderful because they lasted so long time in the cannel. Good job done. Like your videos so much. Take care from shirley from new Bern, north carolina ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😮🎉🎉🎉😅😊🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😅😊🎉🎉
I used to go to flea markets and buy up all of the silverware I could find. Take them home and make wind chimes out of them. Take them back to the flea market and sell them.
We get them almost every time we do the Thames especially round this area, got to say love the video oh and Marie's squeak as she walked to and from the camera 🤣 the blue ones are far harder to find the plate is a hindu offering mate I've had a couple now
Brilliant finds Glen Marie beautiful condition i have some plaques different colours different sizes don’t know what they are from found them in a canal brilliant videos and brilliant find’s
I would not get rid of the old keys, make wind chimes out of it, the spoons if design on end, were bent and cut into rings, which were very popular. Arie that boat label 1926, blue one 1948, Glenn’s are nice too, put on a wood plaque to hang up with space to add.Glenn took your spot Marie. Nigel well they were struggling with magnet, throw yours in, hahaha. Fantastic finds, that’s why I think when you gather everyone to magnet fish for good cause, have tables where you can trade finds with your duplicates, or what you do not collect, or sell and it goes into the donation pot. Edit- Thanks Marie for providing the history on these boat labels, maybe next time you find one from 1800’s
So so sorry I couldn't join mate was my dad's 75th I was in Liverpool was a good spot for us still more there to, you can do this spot every two weeks always something new, also you can fish off the middle of the bridge some good finds there had a cannonball there
Hi. Just watched & very much enjoyed watching you have a very successful time in my home town of Reading. I have a Narrowboat up river not to far from where you were fishing. I'm surprised you didn't find more Grolsch tops as that whole area is home to the Reading Festival, ha ha. Loved the horseshoe finds, they probably brought you the luck with the name tags??!!. Keep safe. Best regards.
Get a cheap bit of board and screw them to it looks good Glen what I've done with my good ones, go again move further up guarantee there are more, I'll definitely join you there
If my memory serves me right, I moored just there on a pleasure boat mooring, and they had a pub that was very popular for the after work on the way home brigade of Reading. These were private moorings I was only given permission because I had a Dunkirk Little Ship, that was built in 1930 in Castleford and went down the East Coast and onto the Thames. So Lazy Days would have had registration plaques for each year on the Thames, sadly the EA changed to plastic stickers. But what about the mooring cannon behind you, I think you were at the site of an old boatyard and the yearly tags were chucked in the river when new ones were fitted. Further upriver on the north bank is a large house, watermill and church, they were used in the film The Eagle Has Landed. A replica of the church interior was built in an adjacent field as the owner did not want rifles taken into the church. Also, a pub and other buildings were built around the mill to form a village. I had worked with the action vehicles looking after and driving the WWII Jeeps and White halftrack that was used as a Bren carrier in the film. It was a real hot summer and so a swim in the Thames after work was great.
In all seriousness, that is really a museum quality display of boat tags. Frame them up and a local museum might like to display the collection. They are a real nice part of history. I would suspect that the bottom there and the current are really perfect for the tags to collect in one spot. (Since you found the filler neck for a bomb, possibly the bomb exploded in the river there and created a crater with the right conditions to act as a trap for the tags?) Another trip there in a month or so should yield another good haul. Congrats of the great finds. I will speculate that the large number of locks and pieces of chain you find in the river have fallen off the boats, and were used to tie them up at night. I believe that plate has Arabic writing on it. Google Translate should help decipher that.
The boat tags were a great find maybe the early 40s ones may have come off some of the boats that went over to Dunkirk to bring back our heroes during the war, is there any how you can find out, and what a piece of history that would be 😮❤
Hey Peaky’s, I just watched your video and of course I loved it ! I had lost all my subscriptions after doing an update and you know I was pissed off..I’m still haven’t found all of my subscriptions back. I love the intro music y’all play on your opening “ I’m walking with the devil”I think it’s cool. I wish y’all could hear me talking back to you while watching a video,I bet you would be laughing your butt off lol! TCY PeaceOut 🤟😎🗝❤️ PS see the key I put on the end of my commitment 🗝 I’ve been trying to find sense I was a kid I would love to have some if you find any. Sense I’ve gotten bed ridden no walking for me. Just saying.
All those boat tags and big square nails , concrete and that big steel pillar to tie your boat up to ,,, Makes me think there might have been a boat dock there with a licence plate register office where once upon a time ,,, Sounds like good spot to fish again next week ,,, P.S. , Nellie said near the end of the video she saw your eyes and big smile and knows what your thinking
I can only assume that , where you discovered all those boat tags was a mooring point on or near a change of year point, off with old and on with the new ? … Also I reckon those tags from the War years will be much rarer than the rest because there would have been far fewer boats during that period?
He hi. I am from Holland and i watched this vid. Could it be so that the round thing with the knot on it and the copper bolt with electra be an early doorbell that you pull out to make contact so it rings or something of that kind? I am really curious about that item. Go on,and keep up the cleaning between treasure finds. Love too all.
Awsome all those boat tag plates was this just a thing on the thames or did they have them on other city rivers be interested to know if anyone does know great vlog as always
I would suggest that spot where you found all those registration plates was an official landing stage, where the new plates were issued. That may be the reason there were so many in one area. In those days the old plates were of no value, so got dropped in the drink. Also remember, it is quite possible some of those boats could have easily have gone over to rescue the troops from Dunkirk. I wonder if its possible to trace the boat registrations through a maritime museum.? Get on it Marie.! From one Video editor to another, well done for the info segments. www.youtube.com/@G1ZQCArtwork/featured David.
@@mariecollinspeakydippers Oh that electrical item with the little round knob you pulled out, but did not show on the finds could have been a pull switch, for a rewireable fuse. Used in the 50 & 60s we had one similar. Quite a rare item really. Collectors like me would be interested in acquiring it.
So 1921 is the date to beat. Oh I see 1914 now. That one looks special. Has different writing on it. Whomever gets one in the 1800's will be the king/queen. lol
I just love how Marie got so tickled finding the boat tags. Glen was just as excited. Wonderful finds today. Music was so good also.
Thanks Rose x
Marie you still need to get a bag of forks... to complete the set
Old keys make really cool wind chimes I wish I had your sack of keys.
Marie, that small spade you fished out, could be a coal shovel from an old steam boat. They are very popular here among the summer tourists.

Church collection plate?
So do you have any idea why there would be so many in the spot? Headed been someone’s collection?
It was a marina where boats were moored over the years x
Dumbbell lock
Why would all of those tags be in that one area?
They were thrown in every year as a tradition apparently
Sounds like you found the jackpot , if i was you , i would get the fuck back in there SAP ! Lol❤
If you have duplicates, do people trade them?
No don't think they do but Glen's giving Rusty the duplicates as he loves boat plaques too. X
did nigel have a boat plaque he didn't look happy
Yes he found 1 or 2
I would suggest that spot where you found all those registration plates was an official landing stage, where the new plates were issued.
