  • This video is how to make a DIY wake shaper for wake surfing behind a boat.
The boat I'm using is a 1999 Toyota Epic x22 and in the before/after I didn't have any extra ballast weight (pump issues :/)

Also, thank you for not recommending to lash it to the boat. Those things go absolutely crazy when they fall off and are attached to the boat, increasing the chance of injury and damage to the boat and shaper. The suction cups are extremely easy to damage and render useless.

Bad ass! Same setup would work for the v-drive Epic, right?

I make my own as well. Just tested my $7 one against the $250 Swell. My shaper was SO much better for our boat. Not saying mine is better than all, but it really depends on the hull of the boat. Some shapers suck on some and are the best for others, which is why I don't understand how people can gamble $250+ on something that may be far from ideal for their boat.
Next step is a DIY tab system and maybe go off the deep end and try to develop an Autowake system to be retrofitted on older boats.

Can you expand on your idea of what shape fits which hulls the best.

@@ryanwilkie5515 I sure can't. Only have experience with one boat, one hull type/shape.
