I like my Z3 Compact, my Z5 Compact, and my XZ1 Compact better. I like the omnibalance design language, I really like the fingerprint scanner on the power button, and the fact that I can choose to use the headphone jack.

Going to 5"fhd screen almost had me. I hate texting on tiny screens, which is why I ducked Exp C1 though I loved fingerprint/power-on location and power internals. I'll give this one a miss. A 5mpx front Camera with silly soppy 3D face option has me baffled.

Any issues with your X Compact? I have a Z3 Compact for more than 3 years and the bottom navigation on screen buttons no longer work, I have to use additional software to get around this, apparently it was an issue that plagued Z3 models and Z2 aswell, but what about X Compact, I'm torn getting the X Compact vs the XZ1 Compact in the future
If it had a headphone port I could probably excuse the extra bulk and the inferior rear fingerprints sensor...but as it is, think I'll stick with the XZ1 Compact until Sony realizes people want headphone ports.

Removing earphone jack is fine to me since im usually using bluetooth earphones and if somehow i need earphone jack they included adaptor anyway. The downside only here for me is making finger print scanner at the back instead on the power button on the size like xz1. In any case i already order xz2 compact and will use it as my daily driver for long years. ☺👍
Sticking with my XZ premium for 3 years. At least this old design by Sony can be differentiate from other phones. Hated the new design, but hey to each to his own. Consumer will always find ways to complain.

Edwin Chen a looong time, my old Xperia z went all the way from jellybean 4.1 up to lollipop 5.1 Now my Xperia XZs received oreo very soon compared to other brands. The Android experience is also very similar to stock.
Man I am torn. The XZ1 Compact has a nicer design with its placement of fingerprint sensor and also the convenience of integrated headphone jack. The XZ2 has a nicer screen, more computing power, better camera better video, more storage, better speakers. I would have preferred a 900x1800 resolution HDR screen also mechanical optical image stabilisation too would of been nice. The loss of the headphone jack isn't so bad when they offer a first party solution that allows you to listen and charge simultaneously but it seems to not be provided with the phone.
The display settings in your video clearly shows a night light option (visible at the 2:08 mark in video). I assume this is the blue light filter which recent reports suggest Sony has gotten rid of for good. This is a bit confusing.
Yup, just going to buy another XZ1 Compact when my current one craps out. Smaller size, more features, better design imo and has the added benefit of a price drop once this abomination releases. I'm probably one of the only people who prefer the XZ2 Compact design. As a Z3 owner I like the return to a more curved design. Because even if the XZ1 Compact looked nice it was uncomfortable to hold.
Adrian Woollard exactly, the XZ2c is an absolute beauty. Compacts had the same design for ages, it's now better, sick of boxy Z's design, 5" screen but same size in hands, It's just perfect.
I'm a long time Sony user and here's my comment about 3 Good / 3 Less good things. 1: The front curved edge looks pretty (should be done the same on the back) 2: No headphone jack (looks clean since wireless is the new technique) 3: The small increase of the screen with 5 "is good enough while the width remains. 1: The phone could be done a little bit smaler. 2: The processor is the same as the old one XZ1 compact. Should be stronger since it's an upgrade and cost more. 3: The edges of the back should be made the same as on the front.
cons: 5 mp front facing camera, no headphone jack, cheaper less classy looking design and higher resolution drains battery (if full HD is fine on pc/TV, then HD is fine on a compact phone and saves battery). Pros: Upgraded internal storage (but both have SD storage = not a real problem), might be more ergonomic, better screen density(actually a con at this size), but slightly compensated for by larger battery. Conclusion: Not even close to being a "it depends on you..." comparison. It's evidently the XZ1 compact that wins. No upgrading for me. Still love you Sony, but maybe next time. Keep up the compacts!

Big mistakes all round. Design is awful, and now looks like so many other brands. And to remove the 3.5 jack is quite frankly the decision of a boardroom full of morons. Xz1 compact is the one to own in my opinion, as it works brilliantly , has everything in the right places, and has a classy design that Sony really shouldn't have deviated from.

Actually, I like the polycarbonate back instead of the glass/metal one. Might just feel better and absorb shocks better.
