Boy - you have some critical commenters! I agree with all your suggestions including washing your shirt and underpants at a mid-day or (more usually) evening stop by water. it wouldn't be actually in the stream, but in one of those folding PVC cloth bowls that militaries use, which doubles as my wash kit container. I also use my small piece of closed-cell foam if I'm in a hammock, when your knees can get cold when sleeping on your side. I have it inside the sleeping bag. For more "uncommon advice" Google "What Do I No", and choose the "Practical" tab.
The collar on a button down shirt also stops the backpack straps from pinching or rubbing against the skin on your neck and shoulders, as the soldiers who developed the style probably appreciated. Good tips! Solid video! Thanks
Awesome tips! Especially pants and ferro rod. I always bring two stove-lighting sources. Lately I’ve been carrying one of those arc plasma lighters. I always bring a ferro rod as secondary though. Great to see your channel getting more attention! Well deserved.
@@ALinsdau many other YTers have tested this, using instruments. Reflective material reflects not only visible light (obviously, it does this much more than the nonreflective side) but invisible electromagnetic radiation, and that’s why it’s warmer.
Using chemical purification affects your gut biome. I use a sawyer in freezing conditions and just keep in a Napoleon fleece pocket or a pocket in my wool base layer.
1. Long-sleeved shirt is not uncommon for backpacking. 2. Don’t contaminate perfectly good water with your dirty shirt. Heaven help the guy downstream. 3. Same with your feet. Wash them, yes, but not in the creek. Wash away from waterways. 4. Obviously your clothing should match with your surroundings. Change into something else to sleep. 5. Aquamira and Sawyer take care of different contaminants. Simply remembering to protect your filter from freezing shouldn’t be that difficult.
Great tips! Also appreciate you getting right into the list without all the preamble
Thanks - I'm restyling my videos and rethinking my schedule. Any suggestions?
@@ALinsdau No suggestions here! Just keep doing you man👍
Yeah I bought the expensive z seat, in hindsight, just a 50cmx100cm sheet of 3mm closed cell foam is a 1/3 of the price.
Too true.
All good stuff. I do most of this anyway. I got myself one of those folding ground mats. I plan to use it like your foam pad to sit on.
Stay safe out there.
Another great video, thank you for this one. 😊
Thanks!

Great pointers!
I fully agree with your clothing choice. I find I only wear long skeeve shirts and trousers for all the protection they provide.
Too true.
I used to use fishing shirts, but I prefer sun hoodies now.
I love my sun hoodie it's just hard to vent and cool down with them

Thanks, I really appreciate all the great tip over the years. 🦋❤️
Thanks for watching!
Without getting too controversial, the bio weapon 'lyme ticks' are a real thing in North America...😅 4:58 I see you touched on it after commenting.
Ticks - terrible bugs.
Yes! masterful.......
Cheers!
Lots of great tips! Thank, Mate!
Thanks!
Thanks for the useful tips!
Thanks!
I bought the adventure expedition one book and I can’t recommend it enough.
Thank you!!
Loved the information, great tips.
Will you please explain what you meant with triple sock system?
Best wishes
The way you showed how youd used the pad to keep you warmer at night shows it the wrong way - you want the reflective side facing your body.
I've tested foam vs silver at -20ºF/-29ºC. I found no difference in either side facing upward.

Important question: Is the watch you are wearing an Omega Seamaster?
Good eye! Sure is, the blue wave face. Love it.
What is the "triple sock system?"

I've heard those aquamira tabs don't treat beaver fever. Is that true? I believe the technical name is giardia.
I don't use the tabs, I use the 2 part liquid that creates chlorine dioxide which is used by municipal water supplies.
@@ALinsdau Ahhh.... I never knew there was a difference and I always wondered why people carried the liquid.
What sucks about pants is overheating and sweating underwear causing rashes.
Too true.
no camp chair?!!! Whaaaaat? It's only 1lb....Lets me wrest my full weight. My friends are always jealous.
True...
