      Beyond the press best way to burn thurmite is in a terracota pot. I mean, that's how most of the pros do it

      Watching the magnesium thermite gave me an idea for you to try.
      How about a few model rocket motors pointed at the lake to see if they can blast through. You'd have to have them at a slight angle to blow the water out of the way as it melts. could be fun :D.
      I really enjoy your channel, keep up the good work and keep warm ;)

    You should try digging half way through the ice then setting it off with a heavy slab/plate on top. Stop everything from just going up.

    • @AndrewZonenberg
      @AndrewZonenberg 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Tamping the charge would definitely be interesting. I think what's happening is that as soon as a little bit of ice melts the water boils and the steam throws everything away. If it fell back down into the hole it might continue to melt through.

      Orange Wrench in that video (2Kg of dynamite vs frozen lake) they explain that that particular pond had no fish in it, so a more accurate estimation for the amount of fish killed or traumatized is around 0, and if they did do it on the same lake as in this video, it may have effected 20 or 30 fish, 100 at most. Do your research before you make yourself sound like an idiot.

      Spring? It's February, officially the shittest month!
      But one thing makes up for it, and that is Beyond the Press frozen lake videos. It's not frozen lake season until they get out there and do their frozen lake thing.
      Where I live if we get half a centimetre of ice people start panic-buying tins of biscuits. We can't all live in Finland. Well, we could, but it would be quite crowded, and they'd have to strictly police the frozen lakes to stop idiots like me from falling in.

    I used to work on the railway. We used to carry out Thermit Welding to join rails together. Why don't you get hold of some of the equipment - a lined crucible with self tapping plug. Ignite thermite to produce molten steel. When it self taps the molten steel will flow from the bottom. Would be great to see what happens to the frozen lake!!!

    You guys need to make a separate channel - ALL THERMITE ALL THE TIME. Use different types of thermite (Manganese-Aluminum, Copper (II) - Aluminum, Vanadium-Magnesium, Silicon-Aluminum, basically any type you can) and different things to burn through (steel plates, more ice, maybe an old television or refrigerator). I think that would be badass!

  • @Speeder84XL
    @Speeder84XL 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Nice! I think actually the explosion made it less likely to make a hole in the ice because most of the thermite is thrown out everywhere (as you could also see from that it created a lot of small spread out craters in the ice). Also it probably takes quite a lot of explosion force to make a hole in the ice from something on top of it - the water underneath the ice also resists the pressure wave almost as much as the ice do (since water is quite heavy and has a lot of inertia)

    Make a directional shape blast thing. Works on blasting thru steel with thermite may give ice a run for its money. Also probably makes it more violent and potentially more dangerous so best strap/weigh it down well.

    Awesome! What if you use your rocket engine thing and fill it with thermite pointing towards the lake? i have no idea what I'm talking about, it could melt or something, but I guess it would make a good hole in the ice.

    You should burn thermite inside frozen ice bucket, sometime, but keep GOOD DISTANCE in case it all explodes. Maybe get ice to freeze first, on top, too, just a tube through the top, to stick in the fuse, everything else frozen and the thermite well insulated from being wet or someting.

    You should set something up made of steel and weld a lid on with just enough of a hole to fit that spark rod and then maybe a hole on the bottom with a thin piece of tin or something covering it and also some weight to keep everything from falling over or shooting up and see what that molten metal with pressure behind it does to the ice. Complicated and a pretty rough idea but you get the picture!
