Rachael, you definitely weren’t being dramatic at all. You were responding to a very traumatizing situation, and imo you handled it very well! I’m so glad your family & home were okay ❤ Really sad Australia is dealing with this again
Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings! I remember your video where you talked about the fires from 2019. Even though I am so far away, it really touched me what had happened to your family and so many others. Greetings from Germany!
That was really scary, I’m happy to know you and your family are safe. Don’t feel bad about not being there the last time. There’s no way to know how things would’ve gone if you were, you could’ve gotten hurt or something, and you couldn’t guess what was going to happen to your mom and her house. I’m sure she’s glad you were far away and safe from it. You and your family (and everyone there) have been so strong, I can’t imagine what it’s like going through that. Thankfully we don’t have as many natural disasters here as I see in other countries. I wish you all the best, enjoy these months you get to be there with your family before your next adventure begins 😊 it’s always inspiring to watch you move on with your life, goals and adventures. Hugs, from Uruguay 😊 🇺🇾 🇦🇺
My brother has flown over from NZ in the past to fight one of your big fires a few years ago. I still think of the photos he took often. Can’t imagine how scary that must be being in the thick of it. So glad you’re ok.
Omg I was so stressed watching you prepare to possibly evacuate. Your poor mom, I can't imagine having to face going through that whole experience again! Glad you're safe! Hugs to you both! The room colour looks beautiful! Great choice/job! ❤
I got goosebumps when you said that you got a full night of rain bcos it was precisely what was needed. I'm so very happy to hear the fire's under control. Also, on a different note, that green color is the exact tone I imagined for your bedroom. It's beautiful & calming & suits the place perfectly 💚
What we just saw you go through is a very human moment so don't ever apologise for that. We too had terrible fires here in Stanthorpe a few years ago, mum and dad, along with their three dogs loaded up the car and had to evacuate. I wasn't here at the time and there were a few months after that where I felt that I should have because there is no way I want my family to go through that alone again. When there are three dogs in the car, it doesn't leave much room for anything else but some tinned food and the water you can grab as you race out the door. I really resonate with how you felt . . The wall colour looks beautiful, it's giving Van Der Woodsen's when they lived in the Plaza Hotel. Beautiful.
I can’t imagine how stressful that must have been. I’m so glad you and your family are ok. And that green is such a lovely color. Makes me want to paint something green now…😊
You precious girl, you can ALWAYS talk to us! Someone here may know what you're going through and may be able to advise you even. I hate you all are going through this again in a 4 year period of time! Wish there was something they could do there to calm these flare ups. I'm praying for you and I'm sure everyone else here is too! Ok so everything worked out - I'm SO happy for you all!
Oh man, Rachel I’m so sorry for you and your mum and your pa, being threatened with all of that again 😖 So thankful it didn’t reach any of you this time! And devastated for those who did lose their homes 😣 I’ve never been through fire, but was in Brissy during the ‘22 floods. Thankfully nothing happened to my family, but a lot of my friends’ and neighbours’ - people just the next suburb over in every direction from where I lived then - homes were partially damaged or completely destroyed. So thankful we were so lucky, obviously grateful, but can completely relate to how scared and guilty you feel. That limbo where you don’t know if you should go or stay and seeing others suffer and not being able to do anything is just so horrible and eerie. I completely lost any capacity to think a rational thought when my little bro, who was my housemate at the time, left to go check on our parents but then couldn’t get back home 2 hours later because every possible way home was flooded - we only lived like 10 mins away from them - and the water was coming up through the drains in my parents’ complex and everyone’s yards were flooded. It’s awful and my heart goes out to you guys and everyone else who was affected. On a much happier note 😅 You’re room looks freakin’ awesome!!!! That colour is stunning!! 😍
How very stressful for you and your mom. I am so glad all is ok now. Your room is looking cosier by the minute! Also, so happy that you have found someone who is there for you and you are both on the same page and all is working well. Life is good! :)
Such an intense thing to go through, the uncertainty and worry. So glad you and your family are safe and well. Hope the rain brings some relief and comfort to you, thanks for sharing this experience xx
Being from Victoria, my thoughts immediately went to you and your family in the last week. Glad to hear you and your loved ones are safe and well. Fingers and paws crossed this continues. Take care. As difficult as it is - when something like this happens, grab everything that is difficult/impossible to replace - documents, insurance policies, photos, momentos of loved ones.
So glad you decided to share your traumatic time with us and I was pleased to see the diaries/journals were going in the suitcase. Glad it all worked out ok and hopefully you can now settle in your new room.
I sympathize with your anxiety. I live where tornadoes are the common natural disaster, which occasionally is a bit nerve wracking. But tornadoes can be fairly well predicted. Wildfires are unpredictable and the situation can change so quickly, I can't imagine. BTW, the wall color it lovely.
I was tearing up watching you try to process things and prepare to evacuate, such a horrible feeling and even more so for your mom. I’m glad everyone is safe 🤍
I'm glad you and your family are ok! Thanks for trying to keep us in the loop despite the stress and anxiety you must be going through. Praying for a safe rest of the season! Also, you might have inspired me to start paint-by-numbers....

You’re not being dramatic. It’s a scary thing, especially when your mum has been through it before. Your feelings are valid. Being right at the start of “fire season” it’s concerning too. We’re just north of Sydney on the coast and they’ve done planned/controlled burns recently and we’ve also had a couple of uncontrolled fires recently, which they managed to contain. It’a a reminder to be prepared as much as possible. But I hope this summer isn’t as bad as expected.
I'm so proud of you Rachel, also so happy for you... that you're so happy and in this healthy relationship. It's very important to recognise that your needs and wants in a relationship...are just as important...

Because its home. Its not reasonable to move everyone away from their communities and homes because of natural disaster threats. That'd be like telling everyone in Brisbane (city of 3 million) to move away because cyclones come through every couple of years and it floods the river. Its home is the simple answer as to why people chose to stay here and rebuild.

@@rachelleea Hi Rachelle❤️🙏. You’re just fine sweetie. I still care about you and I always have wanted you to be happy as long as I can remember watching you.😁❤️🙏. You’re a very smart lady and you do have your head on straight and I’m sure that it will all happen just right for you and your sweetie and it will all also come into place where you both will be able to be together forever. Until then, just keep the communication line open between the both of you and also always love each other too and definitely be each others best friends too. I think those actions will help you and your boyfriend to stay together forever. You can do this and I also admire you with the fire too cause I’d be more of a basket case then you were and I’d be hyperventilating like crazy too.😊. You’re more stronger the. You really think you are. Hugs love and many blessings to you my friend. Also, I think I’ve said this but from pics and programs I know Australia is beautiful and I’d love to get there one day but it might not happen. Oh well. I’ll live vicariously through you in Australia. Hugs and love my friend. Sue M. Florida,USA ❤️🙏🥰😁😺😘👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻😊❌⭕️❌⭕️
I learned how to use they/them in first grade.
They’re third-person plural pronouns, used to refer to groups of two or more people or things.
you need to move tbh..why did your Mum stay there after last time?
Because its home. Its not reasonable to move everyone away from their communities and homes because of natural disaster threats. That'd be like telling everyone in Brisbane (city of 3 million) to move away because cyclones come through every couple of years and it floods the river. Its home is the simple answer as to why people chose to stay here and rebuild.
Okay but if it happens again you will stay again? ;o @@rachelleea next time might not be so lucky why risk it
