Paralegal here, due to the totality of the event, more than $11,000 worth of damages needs to be compensated for. If the survivors declined the compensation/ settlement from the cruise line company they would have the opportunity to pursue their own legal suite and obtain a greater amount in damages. re: survivors not taking the money, i think in some cases if they accept the money, it means they can't sue for more money. i think that 11k was a settlement, so legally if they accepted it it meant they couldn't take legal action anymore. i think that could b it??

Okay, first of all I have watched true crime to fall asleep every night for maybe 6 years and I’ve never had to turn off the video. When you said he told the passengers to get back in their rooms I had to turn the video off because I was so mad! Lol. I also wondered why 2/3 of the passengers didn’t take their 11k but I figured it may have been that would have been forfeiting their right to sue. I looked it up and one passenger received $100k in a lawsuit for PTSD from the shipwreck.
I understand.. I was too. But if you can listen to what the coast guard said to the Captain 🤭

Lol The same thing happened to me with the disaster suggestions. There's some really awesome cave driving rescue stories, some with happy endings, involving a master rescue diver named Ed Sorensen.

You should try taking (if you can/ask your doctor) a motion sickness over the counter medication a hour before you have to take a ferry. It helps me so much on those!
I definitely am..I’m not sure if your part of my Patreon b/c on my cruise in July I was soooooooooo sea sick and I’ve been on at least 6 other cruises and never had that problem…maybe as I’m getting older things are changing 🙄🙄🙄😂😂😂💖💖💖💖💖
The older I get the worse my motion sickness gets. I got so car sick a few weeks ago I had to have them pull over. 🙃
@@asmrmajestic3827 we went on a cruise out of jersey the same time to Bermuda. The seas were rocky, so many people were sea sick.
The 11k would have been a settlement figure, and if they accepted they wouldn’t be able to sue for more. And I think the reason the captain wanted the crew to say it was a blackout was to explain why they hit the rock, as in we lost power and drifted into a rock, rather than just trying to pretend it didn’t happen.
I'm thinking the survivors didn't take the money because they probably would have had to sign something that they agreed not to sue the company for more later

Only 1/3 took the money because the other 2/3 sued for more compensation!! The $11k bs bribe was a shit amount and a slap in the face!! Depending on what cabin the $11k isn’t enough to cover my ticket, airfare to the port, replacement of all my belongings plus for the stress and anxiety I would have gone through!!! They can keep their bs 11k lol and I’ll see you in court

@@asmrmajestic3827 me too 🤣 the funny thing is that when I watch that video I felt dejavu and realize I definitely watch the news of this accident but I was a kid and after years I didn't remember it.
See as opposed to your Titanic video, this was CLEARLY ALL the Captains fault and 16 years is nowhere near enough time in my opinion.
