As a white working class Brit that grew up listening to Akala (I was listening to his first big track 'Shakespeare' when I was 10), he really opened my eyes to so many things. He taught me that as a white working class Brit, I have far more in common with British working class people of other ethnicities than I do with the people who supposedly represent me in Government. But if the white working class British united with working class Brits of other ethnicities we'd have too much power in a democracy, and so the government, doesn't matter if it's Labour or Conservatives, has been engineering a race war between us for decades.
The reason so many white working class Brits join hate groups like the EDL isn't because they're born racist, it's because they're told to be racist, because 'coloured people are stealing your jobs' and all that nonsense. It's obviously not true, but because the education system here is built to marginalise white working class Brits, most of us can't do shit about it because that's all we learn growing up. So then the country has these artificially-created racists that they can then turn to the non-white working class people and go 'look at those racists, they're you're enemy, not us.' It's terrible and unfortunately it's still a huge problem even now. The British government and others in power intentionally split the working class by race to stop us from uniting and doing great things, and Akala knows. He's known for decades. And thanks to him I know.

The EDL identified themselves as English, which can't be defined as a 'race' and certainly can't be defined as many of them. They are racist because they believe and rely on roundly debunked racial ideas of natural or cultural inferiority and differences. Their membership may be relatively diverse (although it isn't in the slightest) but that has nothing to do with their aims and objectives, which are anti-diversity and anti-multiculturalism.
Shakespeare is fire, Akala turned my class consciousness on and people like him are the reason I'm a communist.

I think Akala stands alone in his own lane. A real scholar MC. Akala is one of a handful whose voice I legitimately can change lives, IMPROVE lives for the better. He educates but doesn't preach, doesn't pander.

first time listening to Akala of any kind and this is insanely direct and to the point and i love it. Upon first listen it seems like Akala is to rap what George Carlin is to comedy... It's pure philosophy and ethics essays disguised as art. It's extremely rare to find education and truth in such a flow
you have to understand; man has TWO honorary doctorates for his contributions to art and sociology, political philosophy and his lifelong constant condemnation and war on the racist infrastructure in the UK, he fully earned his legend status in music while always championing the people
