Michael Jordan has so many great seasons. But this one was his revenge season, after losing to the Magics in the semi finals in 95. He came back stronger than ever. NBA MVP, scoring title, all-star, all-star game MVP, All-NBA first team, first team defense, NBA champ, FMVP. That's truly insane lol, no player has yet to accomplish all of that in one single season and he did it again during the 97-98 season age 35.
In the 1997 and 1998 Playoffs, Michael Jordan carried Chicago Bulls on his back.
Dennis Rodman was already old, he was 35, 36 years old. He was very good in 1996. But in the 1997 and 1998 Playoffs, he was very ineffective.
1997 Playoffs:
*Dennis Rodman ( age 36 )=4-ppg. FG-37%. 8-Rebounds per game.*
*Scotte Pippen ( age 31 )=19-ppg. FG-41%. 7-Rebounds per game.*
1998 Playoffs:
*Dennis Rodman ( age 37 )=5-ppg. FG-37%. 12-Rebounds per game.*

Yeah he shot 37% on only 4.3FGAs in 1997 and only 5.0FGAs in 1998 so it didn't hurt the team much at all. He could have rebounded better in 1997 eventhough he still rebounded really well, just not for his standards. But Rodman's main contributions throughout his career were his rebounding and defense and he provided both of those things in the 1997 and especially 1998 playoffs.

He was no longer in his prime in 1997 or 1998, but Rodman was still a great defender and the best rebounder in the league (Rodman won the rebounding titles in 1996-97 with 16.1rpg and 1997-98 with 15.0rpg). 12rpg in the playoffs is still elite whether it's 15rpg or not.

Yeah like everyone else I loved watching him poke on everyone & all the fancy moves & over the top scoring but once he made that fadeaway a staple part of his game with all the post moves and counters while still being able to do all I mentioned above is when his game was at its most beautiful

Jordan's greatest physical asset which doesn't get talked about enough was his huge hands. Sure, lots of players calm palm a ball but nobody was as flippant with it as him. He had the perfect grip and palm and finger placement which allowed him to have more control of the ball than any player not named Doctor J. If you look at Kobe's footwork, Wade's slashing ability, or Bron's athleticism, they could version do every MJ could do on the ground but once MJ got in the air his hands allowed him to use the ball similar to a paintbrush and he just used the air as a canvas to create artistry that Doctor J or no other player could match. On the defensive end, his hands were so strong that if you had the ball anywhere near him he was going to block it, strip it, or steal it. This get's me to his second-best asset his defensive IQ. His timing on that end was impeccable. It was as if the ball was inflated with blood and MJ was a great white shark. Long before Kawhi, he was the Klaw! What's crazy is that his hands are actually bigger than Kawhi's!

My God this guy was an artist & an assassin rolled into one. These young kids have no idea the fear this man put into his opponents just knowing he was in the building, let alone when he walked onto the floor. He was magical. I guarantee Jordan could taste blood in that series against the Magic that year after the previous year.

Everything about this comeback season was legendary. I still remember how much hype those shoes had. The patent leather. Unless you were a kid at that time, you will never understand how much you’d them.
I was born July 28th 1988 a Piston fan in Detroit. I watched WGN in Detroit from my lil TV in my room I'd move my TV antenna in a direction and watched Mj play. Even tho I did not care for him like the world did I cant knock pure greatness and excellence. Much respect to the goat.
The dribble pull-up is the best weapon for a quick athletic player. Defenders are so worried about getting blown by that they tend to give up so much space and retreat too much off a jab step or one hard attacking dribble that you end up with so much space. In most of MJs highlights especially when he was younger, the majority of his pull up J's weren't even contested.
95/96 Jordan was a mix of him been still very explosive, with his extremely high I.Q from his last years

Michael Jordan was just a good defender but not great because who was he strapping up? John Stockton? Gary payton? Any pg? Nowadays defenders are Jrue Holiday, Kawhi, and Lu dort guarding the best shooters every, and slowing them down like lebron, curry, or James harden. Don’t tell me Michael Jordan is a better defender than all of them just because he led the league in steals. Nobody could guard jordan. Sure his 3 PT shot needed work but in no way us durant more effeciant than jordan. Durant has an average post up offense l, jordan was a master of post up offense. And durant's d is average too and jordan stole the ball from everyone not just smaller guards. All defense how many times. Come on man.

It's the hands that he centers his game around. No other player plays like him because they simply can't. You can copy some things about his game but the thing he has on everyone is the ability to just palm the ball with one hand off the dribble. Absolutely unreal.
