Thank you for this lovely compilation. I am especially impressed with gymnasts who achieved this skill before the floors had more spring to them. There was one gymnast whose name escapes me, who just floated in place, rather than covering a lot of floor, and it was astounding. I am not picking anyone's as best because it's subjective and I find all these athletes amazing!
I was expecting Kim Zmeskal at 92 Trials, it is amazing, Mary Lou Retton in 1984 Olympics, where is Pavlova perfect doble layout in 2008 and Vanessa Atler in 1997.
Unfortunately accent marks were glitching when I tried to add them so quite a few of the names that do have accent marks in them do not in this video. Hope you understand! Thanks for watching! edit: I just realized I missed Melnikova. I am sorry for this atrocity.

I can't help but notice that the current gymnast land and with their feet together while the older ones land and take presentational one step forward or back. Does anyone have any insight on this?
It’s also that if you keep your feet together it will definitely be counted as one step but if you put 1 foot back and then join your 2nd foot to that foot it counts as two steps

Up until 2008, gymnasts were allowed a “controlled lunge” on landings.
It’s also that if you keep your feet together it will definitely be counted as one step but if you put 1 foot back and then join your 2nd foot to that foot it counts as two steps
