I managed to get the tourist one from a local store near a hotel where I stayed not far from the airport. I paid around 3.56 Baht lasted 10 days with 50 unlimited data. Lasted for the duration without any issues didn't have to top up was high speed and had no requirement to use for calls.
Amazing feedback. But 3.56 baht is 10 cents!? 🤷🏽♂️ also please specify which operator and how many GB you bought. People will live the feedback. Thanks
What happens with your phone number?? Do u get a Thai number? When u leave to go back home and you put your original SIM card back in does it go back to normal? I haven’t seen any channel cover the actual process of getting a number or losing your original number or when u want to go home and put your original sim back in
Thank you. Locals know best. Thanks for the input! In my link in description I compared the 4G/5G networks in Thailand and came to the same conclusion!
Never had any problems whatsoever with dtac in BKK and on a few islands (Ko Phangan, Ko Samui, Ko Tao). However, this was seven years ago, so who knows how things have developed.
So this is gonna sounds stupid, but once you buy it... what do you do? Just pop your existing one out and pop this one in? Away you go? Or a bunch of online registering etc...?
As another vlogger who lives in Bangkok pointed out, it is FAR cheaper and better to buy a SIM card outside of the airport at a local mall or even a 7-Eleven (True only offered there however).
and how do you use Bolt, or Grab to get to your hotel to drop off your bags before running around to find a 7-11. I would rather get it. Check in, and worry about a top off once I am set up and bag free. The few Baht you save, you spend on the Taxi over charge? or the Overseas roaming fee for 3 seconds of use, if it works?
@@TonySchiavone6 Simple. You pay cash to use a taxi, bus or train, then go to the nearest shopping mall that has a proper service provider, such as a dtac shop and purchase a 1 month unlimited package. Or you can pay over the odds at the airport and order your taxi using Bolt. Up to you.
the funny thing is that outside airport area at 7 eleven can buy 1 month sim with unilimited data for 200/300 baht, inside airport only 8gb / 16gb and they dont accept credit card
thanks for the 24-7 for the sim card stores. Other people said they were closed when their plane landed. I was worried about that. Esim cards seem double the price and limited time to use the data. 300 Baht is pretty cheap even if its only enough for 1 week.
The Airport is 3 times the amount for a sim card then going to 7/11, however 7/11 only has TRUE not AIS. You will still need your Passport, Phone, and Baht.
the ATM charges everywhere in Thailand 220 Baht per transaction for foreigners. this is super normal not overprized as you mention in your video. it's generelly a high transaction fee so choose wisely when you get your money and always withdraw as much as possible so you don't have to pay this fee that often. and another tip: it's generally cheaper to decline the fixed rate at the atm.
Just open a WISE-account (formerly Transferwise) - WISE also offers a WISE debet card. With this card you have two no-charge ATM withdrawals per month.
This is a fantastic video. Thank you. I will be traveling to Malaysia and Singapore as well. Do you know if an esim bought in Thailand will work in those countries as well?
I was in December Thailand and I bought AIS unlimited Internet 1 month and the network is very good Internet is fast And I have almost everywhere 5G with AIS 👍🏻👍🏻👌🏻👌🏻
In Romania, prepaid sim card from Vodafone,no registration is 6 dollars with 60GB internet. For this spring season, they have promo for 100GB,same amount of money.
I’m coming for the second time in six months from Jordan 🇯🇴 in June. I have a new iPhone 14 Pro that ONLY works by ESIM…what now ? I don’t expect to use much Data at all, but I will need to be able to CALL my Thai friend.
In the past it was great to buy a SIM card at the airport but nowadays it's the quickest way to get ripped off after landing (other than using an ATM LOL). Still, it's worth it for most tourists because of the convenience. However, if you are staying 30 days or longer and don't mind the inconvenience, get a normal (non-tourist) SIM card from one of the providers' shops (AIS/True/DTAC) in a mall or whatever for less than 100 baht and then add a data package starting at less than 200 baht for 30 days. (These SIM cards are not available at the airport for obvious reasons). Don't forget to bring your passport when going to the shop as this is required to register the SIM card.
Just avoid anything said in this video and by it at 711. Take your passport with you, takes about 3 minutes. 150-300 Baht depending on the speed, data.
No. They may give you a free tool to take home. I got my SIM at Terminal 21 with AIS. BTW, almost all Thailand providers offer similar SIM's at almost the same price but speed may be different. Anyway, if you are staying for a week or two, just get a SIM from any provider with shorter lines.
At home I can get minute/data no limit for a month for 11€, in Thailand 8 days for the same price? this is unreal. as the thai say, tourists have a lot of money when they arrive, they will pay.
Considering the money you spend for all the other stuff during your trip, 300 THB is not a whole lot of money, is it. With that said, I paid about the same amount for 12GB/4 Weeks (4G) in 2016, so I'd have expected a bit more as time progresses...
Totally confusing. OF COURSE you can get local eSIM cards! You don't have to choose between LOCAL SIM cards and expensive international eSIM cards. Wrong information.
I almost never carry local currency upon arrival. Why would you anyway? It's cumbersome and more expensive to procure beforehand than just using an ATM (the ones outside the airport should have lower fees)...

True sim at 7/11 airport. Only tourists who don’t know buy from the stands.
