@@rolandtiiroja my grandfather still drives it daily. It has more than 500000 km, old 2.0 carburetor engine and LPG installed but it's so damn reliable and maintenance costs less than 150€ annually (he lives in Ukraine).
If both are indeed filmed in May, then the 2019 video likely was filmed in late May, while the 1994 video was filmed in early May. So there just hasn't been as much time for all the greenery to grow that year.
I also lived in Tallinn and was driving Lada back in 1994. I didn't remember any more that complete lack of road markings. But indeed, paint that what was used then was bad quality and weared off within a year or two, so they were mostly absent. In Soviet Union driving lanes were wider, I think standard was 3 meters. Now they are according to European standard, it is 2.5 or 2.6 meters. And in 1994 green street light blinked 4 times before yellow came up, now they blink 2 times (In Western Europe they don't blink at all).
This is really cool to see. We drove in via a similar route March 16th and have been locked down here ever since, amazing seeing the changes over time!

All the Ladas are gone... I managed to visit Estonia during the Soviet occupation period once, then multiple times afterwards. The development has been phenomenal. Estonians have worked truly hard over the years to rebuild their country. Whenever I visit Tallinn, I feel envious of the fabulous old town. It's a real treasure.

Случайно в интернете на одном музыкальном форуме познакомилась с человеком, меломаном со стажем из Таллинна. Я сама очень люблю музыку, обладаю музыкальным от природы слухом и красивым голосом. Начала переписываться и не заметила, как сильно к нему привязалась. Я ведь после смерти старшего сына отгородилась от людей, жила замкнуто вдвоем с младшим, изредка приезжая к мужу, который жил за городом. Мой нечаянно знакомый не раз бывал в Калининграде по работе и город со своеобразной архитектурой ему очень понравился. Замуж выходить я не планировала и поэтому несколько раз отклоняла его желание со мной встретиться. Интересно... Мы несколько раз ездили к тете и бабушке в Тюри с середины 80х и до 90х на машине через Нарву. И я хорошо помню эстонские дороги - ровные, с отличной разметкой, незабываемо пахнущие. У нас в, тогда еще Горьковской области, просто ровная дорога - это было уже невероятное что-то. А тут едешь из Пайде в Тюри и в темноте вдоль обочины столбики светятся. Но почему-то в этом видео в 1994 году дороги больше похожи именно на наши совковые. Неужели в Таллине и в центральной Эстонии так отличалось все?

@@hardy_ I highly doubt it, the Soviets turned my country from a wartorn kingdom into a modern country , for the times. That they themselves were too corrupt in the late 70s and 80s and everything went wrong is another problem.

Я сам из Австрии, но был в Эстонии недавно. Местами там лучше чем у нас. Очень чисто и нет загорелые люди. Мечети нет.

Интересно... Мы несколько раз ездили к тете и бабушке в Тюри с середины 80х и до 90х на машине через Нарву. И я хорошо помню эстонские дороги - ровные, с отличной разметкой, незабываемо пахнущие. У нас в, тогда еще Горьковской области, просто ровная дорога - это было уже невероятное что-то. А тут едешь из Пайде в Тюри и в темноте вдоль обочины столбики светятся. Но почему-то в этом видео в 1994 году дороги больше похожи именно на наши совковые. Неужели в Таллине и в центральной Эстонии так отличалось все?
