What is a good drawing process for understanding tone and value?

    Don't underestimate the value of tone! (Silly joke there)! But it's also true. We understand an image without colour but how much do we understand without tone? Tone gives us information about the 3d form of the world around us - while colour just adds to that.

    Superb study and information, not once did we ever draw an egg in a lecture, though we were told to study them because of the similarities to skin, I've even drawn a wart egg with a totally normal shel but with small round & raised dark brown clumps of shell. Why? I don't know but it was interesting and fun to draw, though my tutor didn't believe it was real so I took the egg in lol

    What's the difference between tone, value, intensity, tint, shade, and saturation?

      @@tommullinerart Ok - focus on highlighting how they're different from each other. Because I think some of these mean the same thing, but i'm not sure.
