      You have three options:
      1: Get a Game Boy Color/Advance and buy some GBC games.
      2: Install a GBC emulator in your PC and download the games at emuparadise.
      3: If you have a 3DS, Wii, etc, that kind of systems, hack it, then download the games at emuparadise.

    Gameboy color was a revelation. ( at least to me :P) I had often dreamed of a colorized gameboy as a child and then finally one came in 98. I got mine a year later and never knew that there were so many good games for it, I ended up playing mostly pokemon silver. Others I want to pick up are metal gear solid, deja vu 1 and 2, shadowgate, shantae, and resident evil gaiden.

    I personally love the Gameboy color. Its library is amazing and seeing NES games on the system, that sometimes even look better than the NES games always blew my mind.

    • @stopthrm
      @stopthrm 5 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      I've heard people say in the past that the gameboy color is supposed to be a pocket NES. The truth is that its much more powerful than that. The CPU's base speed is 4 times faster than the NES in its base mode and its extra functionality allows it to run at 8mhz. It could also take advantage of 16 bit memory addressing and games on the game boy color could be much larger in size (serveral megabytes in size, which for an 8-bit game is absolutely massive).

      Tbh I can't stand Pokemon Pinball on the GBC. I hate how the screen moves when you get to the higher part of the table, it gives me headaches.

      Neogeo was one amazing handheld at the time.
      I strongly believe if neogeo recruited gamefreak (pokemon) on their team they had a strong chance to compete with Nintendo.
      I mean metal slug ,kof. Isn't enough to compete zelda,mario,pokemon

    What a tremendously good list. A lot of GBC game lists don't even have Metal Gear Ghost Babel in it and only display the most popular/known games just for the sake of pandering to nostalgia. I like that you didn't just include some of the popular ones but also some lesser known titles that people might like like R-Type. Cheers!

      It very, very nearly made it into the list. First impressions of the game were amazing, but as I progressed through the campaign, I very quickly realised I had seen all it had to offer. There’s no real depth to it and using the same strategy on every mission always worked. Technically superb, though.

    I'm not sure if it was on this list, But I remember sinking days into 'Monster Warrior Monsters'. If anyone here enjoys Pokemon, collecting monsters, and dungeons this might be a game you want to check out! There is also a breeding system that works amazingly well.

    Still got my GBC. I did reshell it and change in new buttons though. Kept the screen original. I mostly play my GBC outside in the sun anyways. Viewing what Im playing really isnt an issue. Besides, I own many backlit GBA SP's if I really want to play in low light settings. Still collecting GBC exclusive games. This list will be a great introduction to some games I havent tried.

    gbc was a great stop gap system. For the short moment more impressive the any colour handheld before it. The non backlit screen even in 98 was a smart move battery wise.

    Super Mario Bros. DX also includes, as an unlockable, worlds 1 to 8 of Super Mario Bros. 2 aka Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels. That's like twice the content essentially, except the challenge mode does not pertain to those stages. That mode is called in the game "Super Mario Bros. for Super Players".

    I just have to say I’m a little surprised by your comments on MGS as a series. You have Ghost Babel in your top four, but you said there are only 3 decent MGS titles. Which 3 games are good in your opinion, and why do you loathe the others?

    • @Juganawt
      @Juganawt  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The good games are MGS Ghost Babel, MGS1, and MG Rising Revengeance, with MGS1 being the peak of the series for me personally. Peace Walker nearly makes the "Decent" list also - it's okay. I haven't played MGS5 so I can't speak for that title - I gave up on the series entirely after MGS4.
      Unfortunately, as gaming tech evolved, so did Kojima's need to try to emulate (and rip-off) storylines of his favourite movies. Gameplay started to suffer as a result, and flow of gameplay was often needlessly broken to shoehorn in more non-sensical radio dialog or cutscenes like the merchant with the monkey in MGS4, or segments of "gameplay" which are void of enjoyment or interest (like the 30 min escort mission in MGS2, the "press triangle to not die" crawling section in MGS4 that seemed to last 30 minutes, and also being forced to watch most of the final fight in MGS4 instead of taking part in it).
      MGS1 was the sweet spot for me, a solid mix of well designed action, and enough cinematography to enhance the experience without over-egging it. It is Kojima's 2nd best work after Snatcher, and is a really great game. Unfortunately, every mainline game in the series since was bogged down with convoluted tosh that tries too hard to make Kojima seem cleverer than he actually is. MGS Revengeance, luckily, was handled by Platinum Games and is a superb action title with excellent action, radio dialog that doesn't interrupt gameplay, and cutscenes that, much like MGS1, enhance the game experience instead of detract from it like the other games do.

      @@Juganawt fair enough. Thanks for the detailed response. I definitely feel differently about most of that stuff (except for the escort mission in 2, haha), but I can definitely see how one might not love those moments/aspects.

    Excellent list like all of your other ones, but it bothers me how you have a list for some pretty niche stuff like Neo Geo Pocket Color, yet not one for PS1. Not only that, I also am curious when it comes to your taste in that department.
    Keep up the good work, I hope you'll make more of these lists, honestly, I consider them better than your other clips.

    • @Juganawt
      @Juganawt  8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      +Happytreefriendsfan3 I so badly want to do a PS1 list, but the problem is, the library is HUGE. There are over 1,800 titles for PS1, and narrowing them down to even 100 top games is a daunting task. I have a spreadsheet at the moment where I've written down my favourite games, and right now there's about 500 of them! Cutting the list down is really tough, but I'll be doing it one day!
      For now though, I'm working on smaller lists, or lists where I can shortlist my favourite games easily.
      PS1 will come, as will Amiga, Xbox, Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum (and, eventually, all systems) one day, but I'm going to need a fair bit of time to get a list I'm happy with for those systems.
      As for the other clips, to be perfectly honest with you, I haven't really taken any time to actively work on improving that stuff. It's kind of throwaway work while I feel my way through learning video editing, but my primary focus are my Top xx lists right now, which I spend the most time on polishing up!
      Thanks for the support, and keep watching. Game Boy Advance is next!

    • @Happytreefriendsfan3
      @Happytreefriendsfan3 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I absolutely understand you, I tried making a top 100 video games of all time list once, I couldn't rank the games for the life of me, how do you do it?
      "as will Amiga, Xbox, Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum (and, eventually, all systems) one day"
      God damn, that's great news. I wish I was in contact with more gaming enthusiasts like you. A lot of people skip on the Amiga, Commodore 64, Turbografx-16 and other stuff, or don't have the experience to make a top 50 or top 100 list for a single console.
      Glad top xx lists are your primary focus. I enjoy hearing your commentary while watching the well-filmed footage of the games.
      No need to thank me for the support, you absolutely deserve it, a shame you have such a low number of views, but I guess such is the destiny of a lot of people who make quality gaming content which doesn't appeal to kids who like screaming (PewDiePie fans etc).
      Can't wait to see the GBA list, I hope Stafy, Ninja Five-O and Kuru Kuru Kururin make it on the list.
      Do you have Steam by any chance?

    • @Juganawt
      @Juganawt  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      How do I do it? Basically, by playing and marking each one on a HUGE spreadsheet. I then go and record footage for each one, and as I'm recording I judge it against other games on the list. If it's not as fun as I remember it being, it gets dropped, Only the strongest remain standing in the list! Once this is done, I replay the videos and evaluate, contrast / compare the games in similar genres. The downside is, it takes a LOT of time (Each video takes 40-50 hours at the moment, although now I have some templates I'm happy with, I hope to reduce the time between videos), and a LOT of hard drive space for the footage!
      You might be pleasantly surprised at some of the GBA games on the list!
      I do have Steam. Username is: Juganawt.
