    Nice, Quick and easy! However I would use really thick viscosity oil (almost like honey) or pack it full of heavy marine grease to the point that it slips just enough that it doesn’t stress the front too much. Otherwise it’s a capable rig though!

      what diffs do you lock for pure crawler?

  • @sarahbowen9686
    @sarahbowen9686 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great video!! Best part about this method is if the front gets in a major bind the diff should still slip a little to brevent breaking something major. I did this same method to mine but eventually went back and redone it with jb weld water weld to make it solid to the point it won’t slip at all. But I knew with doing so that I would start breaking parts a lot more easily than it would have with your method. I kind of wish I would have just left it the way you did yours. But as always great video and the difference in pulling and crawling is like daylight and dark.

      @GoncaloQuinas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot for the comment and the great tips you gave me. This thing is really an amazing crawler right now, I think it can keep up with some of the better ones, like the traxxas, axial....... probably one of the next videos. A greeting and really thanks.

  • @DFDuck55
    @DFDuck55 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I just pack the front diff with high temperature heavy axle grease. Like you might use on boat trailer axles. It effectively locks it but leaves enough slip you won't break axles.

    • @GoncaloQuinas
      @GoncaloQuinas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's another great way to do it and with a soft material too. Great tip, thanks a lot

    A little early for X-mass. lol Nice mod. I would of JB welded it myself or see if I can find some solid diff axils from the RC drift world that would fit the ring gear and sit inside the diff housing. But that mod definitely works. Good job bud. :)

      no it dosen´t :) because i got the 1/12 feiyou FY06 6wd with open rear diffs

    • @GoncaloQuinas
      @GoncaloQuinas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A feiyou? this video is from a wltoys 10428 B and yes it does come with lock rear diffs. Now about the feiyou, the back axles probably you could lock with plasticine, but i never open any, and as it is a speed car to lock it is most likely to break something.

    • @brianjohansen8292
      @brianjohansen8292 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      i know is not the wltoys 10428 but it uses the same running gear as the wltoys 10428 but i guess i just have to give it a go and see how it holds up and its gonna be used as a crawler not a basher

    I'm abit confused on this why don't the diffs come with something soft inside them or is it more of a choice for what you use it for

    • @GoncaloQuinas
      @GoncaloQuinas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This was my way of locking the front axle, it's not locked from factory and for crawling you need all the wheels to spin.

  • @ChristOfCancelSky
    @ChristOfCancelSky 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm not a RC Geek, so I don't know to much about RC cars. Can you tell me... this diff block is for what? How can it "help" my rc car?

    • @GoncaloQuinas
      @GoncaloQuinas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Not even I just went this world on try and error. But when you try to make the front wheels to pull the car over something with a open diff you will get a wheel that’s on the air spinning and the other on the floor will stay still and not getting the car to move. With a lock diff both wheels make the same rotation in any situation, putting always the power on the ground.

    • @ChristOfCancelSky
      @ChristOfCancelSky 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks a lot! Now I understand this mod, because I had couple of those situations as you described. I think it's time for some upgrade :-D Thnx!

      @@paulkazjack well.the $110 ZD 1/10 ZD 4x4 truck...mind came with 2-ea shims on the outside...after the truck wears in..the front differental start to slip..so I just put one shim on the INSIDE to tigthen it up...work like a charm. I got a $500 1/8 rolling chassis for only $100...the factory used loc tight on the center diff mount ( center differental was slipping)..I let soak in oil ovrer night...slap a WASHER in the center diff to make it tight...
      it can Pop wheelies and do 55mph....
      I cant afford $1000 for 1/3 scale R/C....I do have wazoo of powerwheels
      which I hope up for the kiddies to do power slide and dounts..
      run it on 5s 50C lipo...or 6s li-on 30C...work like a charm.
      I got crapload of electricwheel chairs for free ( becuase batteries dont work)..The stock ESC can run on 32V...it'll do only 6-8 mph due to gearing.
      I could build 4x4 robots out of a couple of them...build a lighter chasis.
      I have laminated plastic glass with layers of 1mm aluminum. Use

      I wack a used edger ...it has heavy duty METAL GEARS (like wheelchairs)
      but it's gear with higher RPM 4-1 gear ratio..it use the SAME SHAFT
      as the brushless motor run it on 48- 60V :-P
      i have dis breaks from go karts...ect....
      For the steerring....some kids ride on are R/C..they're just non porportional....it has the same GEARBOX assembly as the ones
      to drive the wheels.....I have a gear box that use only a 390 motor.(5v)
      You know there's just a baby motos in an R/C servo right??
      I mgiht have to double up on the Breaks servo....
      Set it up sort of like Nitro...run Y harness to the servo breaks...
      My scooters esc has REVERSE switch...I'lll just use the aux channel to
      to trigger that.....Make it do 50 mph for under $300.....
      That's how my MGT4.6...converted to Brushless is set up...
      becuase the trasnmission has 2 speed :-P
      It has has wazooo low end torque and will do 50 mph too.
      The gears in MGT transmissions are METAL....not like plastic crap Trasaxxx or powerwheels...lmao
      it still use the DISC breaks to slow down the truck.

    why dont you put thick diff oil in there?

    • @GoncaloQuinas
      @GoncaloQuinas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s the same thing is a soft material to plasticine and it really works great.

    • @krasimirkrastev6375
      @krasimirkrastev6375 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes but this is 100% lock diff, with 200-300 wt sillicon oil you will have some diff action in there, and will be like 80% locked

    U should have filled ur spider gears with epoxy

    • @GoncaloQuinas
      @GoncaloQuinas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I could do that, but if something grab one of the wheels is most likely to brake some component. So with plasticine it give away a litlle bit prevent me to brake it, that's why I use a softer material...Big thanks for comment.

    • @lukesadler2140
      @lukesadler2140 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I filled mine with epoxy and it’s brushless I never broke it yet

    • @GoncaloQuinas
      @GoncaloQuinas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And probably never will, is just a prevent situation, booth ways are grate, just pick the one that you thing is the best for you. I prefer this one with the plasticine...

      Goncalo Quinas yep I understand in fact I’ll use ur method on my next one does it help with turning at all

    • @GoncaloQuinas
      @GoncaloQuinas  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Another thing, if you want this is a reversible mod, you can always take the plasticine out (if you want in a future situation, but i really prefer it a lot more with lock diffs, HEHEHEHE)

    Is plasticine a clay ?

    • @Sticker-Happy
      @Sticker-Happy 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeoja Chingu Not really, clay is natural. Plasticine is synthetic. Both are used for different applications. You cannot fire up plasticine in a kiln to make pottery and on the other hand you cannot make animations with clay because it dries up and hardens over time.
