I have the C2 version of this. Definitely a cheapo single speed Twin Hammers, regardless, its given me nothing but fun runs and it saves my TRX-4 from being bashed around. I just changed the servo with my stock TRX-4 servo, a spare Hobby Wing ESC and Receiver and it's even more fun now. Its got potential!
Great review If you can't get the screws out Put a hot soldering iron on the screw, it will melt the glue/locktite and the screw will come out Works for me

Great unboxing video and amazing breakdown detail. From the size of the gearbox and the quick glance you had in the manual the 3x center gearbox gears look an identical part to my Wltoys L323 bad design as their all nylon and they wear in series as happened to me by the time I heard the sound the inner of the gearbox looked like Ashes!
Bad new. Without seen the gear i thought they were big enough and strong, but it seems that no :(. But wait, i just took a look on the L323 photos and its gearbox seems smaller than the 10428 B2. Sure they have the same shape, but the L323 gearbox look like same as an 1/10 2WD gearbox, but the 10428 B2 gearbox is bigger, and finaly there aren't same at all. Just look at the size of the motor compared to the 10428 B2 greabox you will see the size difference i think.
Its gearbox seem pretty close to standard 1/10 gearbox, maybe you can find compatible parts from others brands. It make me think of my Turnigy SCT 2WD geabox, but many 2WD have the same gearbox design.
How are those plastic crown & bevel gears holding up? looks pretty beefy compared to the metal ones tho. Got mine few months back, 3 bash session with a brushless combo and my spur is pretty much done hahaha. Swapped it with a scx10 trans and now just having issue with the front drive shaft. Might eventually swap it out with other scx10 parts as well since VTH & 10428 parts are hard to come by.

Yes, take care of youtube reviewers with bad rc knowledge and who are there to sell product. I always want to show how the gears are, gears show the durability of a car. For this one, the main problem is that some parts aren't available, mainly the center gear and gearbox.
I used to a manager for elctronics..but I had also get parts fabricated. They made a poor decision and passing it on to the consumers. They could had contacted the manufacture for those metal gear parts...which has MOLDINGs already...Order 10K or whatever...schdule it out for production runs....It would basically cost the same or less than having to pay for a new mold for those plastic parts... Molds can cost $10- $15K...just for a set of gears/parts Now they;re just to push plastic parts on US...to get rid of whatever plastic gears they had to order ....just to make up for the cost of the molding.... Trust me..ALL those plastic gears cost less than 50 cent... They have to build the complete truck for $30 or less..then the whole sale dealer has to make an investment...then distributors...then retail.. Everyone add $30...( investments...with interest..ect) They have to do it....that's why it's $120 or less street price. The longer they sit on it...the more they'll lose money....That's why you can get some for $90...They're just trying to retrieve their money..before they lose money.lol But if the product was GOOD from the get GO,,,it would SELL ITSELF like HOT CAKES...everything would be on back order.lmao
The main thing i don't like so far : the glued screws on the motor and the screws almost impossible to remove on the center gearbox. This means that we can't repair it without buying some spares, mainly a new center gearbox. I talk about this in my review on rcgroups, link is below the video. This car price is between the 12428 and the 10428. It seems better than the 12428 but slower and not as good as the 10428 that we can find for ~40$ more.
Thanks for the tip. But the screws head aren't well made also, even with brand new tools they don't want to turn the screws. I even tried with a solder iron to melt the glue, like`i do with too hard threadlock but nothing to do, screws are well blocked So, i will wait that spares will be availaibe, i will buy the plastic gearing housing and destroy the stock one.

This one costs around 50 euros less than the 2 speed 10428. Is the 10428 an electronically managed 2 speed or a real switch (mechanically) between different gears in the drive-train? I wonder if it's really worth to pay also more taxes or to buy this cheaper one instead from ebay (B2 from Singapore).
That spur gear doesnt have a cover? What if dust or stuff like that enters bettwen the gears and "kills" them? Where can i buy replacement Metal gears?

About the center gearbox and gears, i haven't seen spares so far, but as this car is pretty recent i hope they will be available soon.
I hope so too. I just ordered one without checking parts availability. I just assumed it would be the same as 12428 when it comes to spare gears and things. If we compare the 10428 and the 10428 B2 or C2 : The B2/C2 have plastic diff. gear, only one speed, friction shock asborbers. The 10428 have metal diff. gear, a slipper, 2s speed, oil shock absorbers.
only 1 speed, friction shocks and plastic gears for the B2/C2. The B is better. B2/C2 are compatible with the B/twin hammer parts but we can't find parts for the B2/C2 center gearbox. For a little bit more buck the 10428 is better.
The differencial yes, but not the center gearbox, there is too much glue on almost all the screws. This is a real problem for me. And i still can't find the center gearbox as spare, an other problem.
Yes, when you see a webshop logo on my videos it is because i received it for free. But you can read all my reviews and you will see that i do honest and not biased review, i show all the problems. There are many reviewers who don't want to say that they receive products for free and they do biased reviews, too many, i don't want to be like them because i have been fooled by this kind of reviewers. But i also do reviews on car i bought, like all the hobbyking cars and the hobao hyper MT. When the cars isn't stock anymore, i remove the logo on my videos. For exemple, i done some reviews for geabest and they don't like my honesty, they wanted that i put links for the products they sell on forums, this is something i don't do, so i don't work for them anymore, they really don't like honest reviews.

@@XtopherMartin With a fixed motor postion we can't change the motor pinion and eventually put a different motor. The problem is also that i never found spares for the gearbox, the gearbox itself and the gears inside. We can maybe swap the gearbox with a twin hammer/wltoys 10428, witch is better, but at this point it is better to buy directly a 10428 instead of a B2.
@@NobodyNoWhereElse My father in law has the B2 I have the A. I had no idea the internals were so different at the time of purchase. At this time I can't return it so we need to make the best of it. I know it's more expensive, but if he were to do a full internal upgrade, would he be able to get to the 2 speed as well? Or would be be better off making a 1 speed monster with a 10428/VTH gearbox?
@@XtopherMartin The modification for the 2 speed will need the gearbox itself + gears, a servo and a 3 channels transmitter, so you will need a new esc also. With only 1 speed you won't need the new electronic. We can lock the 2 speeds gearbox on only one speed mechanically.
simply looks like completely cheap crap compared to the orignial B-version. :-( (poor rc transmitter, 1 gear only, non oil dampers, open spur, all plastic gears .. very clearly a non-buy!)
This is a little bit what i say on my review on rcgroups (link below the video). If we compare the price of a 12428 and a 10428, this one is between, but too close to the 10428 price. But it stay better than a 12428.

Use a solder tip and heat the screws that are difficult to remove - it will soften any glue and allow easy removal..
Obviously i already tried this, this doesn't work, all this can do is melt all the plastic parts.
I dream that once wltoys will make a kit with 2speed transmission and without electronics

Really wondering if acetone would work on getting the glue loose. The manual shows the center gearbox apart so there is away.
Without foams, the tires hold better on the surface :)
