Thank you for taking the time to review the DP200, the best review on this welder so far and the one that sold me on it! The only thing I would have liked to see/hear more detail on is the "spot" weld feature but I am "assuming" it's as good as or better than the Arccaptain implementation.

I had over 2 hours of footage that I edited down to 30 minutes as it was. A lot of people say my videos are too long and say that I should limit them to around 10 minutes because people won’t watch videos that are longer than that. For me, I prefer to give the viewer a real overview of how the welder works and performs so they can make an informed decision about whether this is a product that they want to spend their hard earned money on. I personally an glad you spent more time reviewing features and settings than actually welding but that's just me. As for the spot welding, I am only familiar with the feature on the Arccaptain, I don't have one but did see a review on it and thought it would be nice feature to have for thin metals. On that machine the current flow is timed when the electrode touches the metal and the trigger is pulled, the timing is adjustable to deal with varying thicknesses of metal. Now that I am considering the DP200 I wanted to make sure it has a similar feature, thanks Marc
Hi Marc, I played with it this afternoon and it looks to be a very simple setup for the Spot feature. It only has one setting and that is from .1 second to 10 second duration of the weld. The range of adjustment is in .1 second increments so you can really fine tune the spot welds. It looks to be the same as the ArcCaptain. One other thing that I just figured out today when I did the software update that they sent me, the memory feature has been enhanced with a notation for every saved program. This was a great feature that I wasn’t expecting but I’m sure happy they did it. I was planning to have to make a log of all my settings by number, but now I’ll add a note to each one. That sounds like the best idea. I’ve been watching various videos on this machine, and have yet to see anyone using pulse on aluminum. It seems like that could be a major feature for thin steel or aluminum.

Hi John! You are correct, this welder can do double pulse as well. I haven’t had much time to play with the double pulse feature on either machine yet. From what I understand it works better for thinner materials because it controls the heat input better. But honestly I have so little experience with it that I am only going from the information I’ve read. 😊👍
Beautiful Flat Bed ! Congrats...I have been looking for a home welder to teach myself welding skills and wanted Pulse MIG for automotive sheet metal work, I could not pass this up for 399 dollars. There is nothing out there with these capabilities for that little money.
I live in Finland, Europe, and we use metrics. You showed metrics units can be chosen. Could you check if this really will switch ALL measurements in the synergic settings to metrics or just some? Also, we only have 240 Volts in Finland and in households 16 amps fuses, will the fuse be a limiting factor for a hobby user? Thanks for your clear and informative narrative, your vids are very helpful! Hi Ken! I went through the settings this morning and switched it to metric and then went through all the different processes. From what I can tell, the entire machine converts over to metric in every way. Which makes sense to me because china builds everything metric and then has to convert it to our silly imperial system to sell it here in America. Why my country clings to this silly system when the entire rest of the world has adopted a simpler system is beyond me.🤪 To the question about amperage, I run mine on a 30 amp circuit and it has never tripped a breaker. Looking at the back panel it lists the Ieff amperage @ 17.4 amps and the Imax amperage @ 34.7 The Ieff amperage is supposed to be the average while normal in use. Having welded with this and other Yeswelder units with my portable Honda generator, the welders at maximum amperage seldom reach the Ieff amperage rating. So, with this in mind, I would confidently say that unless you are planning to weld at the maximum 200 amps on a regular basis, you would be fine with your 16 amp circuit for 99% of your welding needs as a hobbyist. I tried pulse welding carbon steel and the amount of splatter was horrible. Can you help with any ideas on what I might be doing wrong? I was using 90/10 gas.
Hi Bruce! Ok, when in the Mig settings, scroll over to the advanced tab and enter that menu. Go to inductance setting and turn it up to +8 and save it. This will reduce your splatter significantly. 😊👍
Yes, you need a graphite or Teflon liner for aluminum. I keep one mig gun set up for steel and one for aluminum so no changing liners back and forth. 👍😊

Thanks buddy! I appreciate it very much! I did a huge amount of work and practice to get those welds. It took about a week of experimenting with settings and techniques to finally get those welds. I had about 20 pounds of practice plates in a bucket when it was all said and done. A lot of it was me training my brain to do the 4T method with Mig which I had never done before. 🤣👍
Hi Gene! Most of the truck bed was welded with 5356, but I ran out about 3/4 of the way through and swapped to 4043 in .047 diameter and I actually liked it better through this welder. This was strange to me because the previous model that this welder replaced, ran 5356 better than 4043. Weird! I wouldn’t attempt welding with the main mig gun with smaller than .045 wire. It is just too difficult to keep the wire from bird nesting in front the drive wheels. The spool gun that Yeswelder sells works great with .035 4043 if you want to weld thinner aluminum and this is what I recommend because with the factory mig gun, you have to constantly be aware of keeping the torch and line straight without any sharp bends to cause the soft aluminum wire to bind inside the line. Hope this helps. 😊👍
I think they are both great. The Everlast is a 325 amp Tig only so they are really not comparable. The DP200 welds as nice as any Mig that I’ve owned and I have two other Yeswelder MiGs that I use in my welding business and they have never let me down. The fact that you can mig weld aluminum with pulse for this price is what is really incredible. 👍😊

The foot pedal controls amperage alone. Start and stop is by the touch of the electrode with the lift Tig start. The voltages for stick are 20.4v @ 10amps to 27.2v @ 180amps. For Tig the voltages are 10.8v @ 20amps to 18v @ 200amps. Hope this helps👍😊

Does the board on the production mode have conformal coating? They did not on the MP200. Corrosion of solder joints will eventually become an issue if left in the garage or outside. And don't forget grinding dust everywhere.
That is a great question! I have no idea about conformal coatings. My shop is very small and grinding dust is definitely an issue. I try to pull the case off once a year and blow everything off inside to keep that issue at bay. Corrosion is not an issue here in the dry desert, but I’m sure in areas with high humidity it could certainly be an issue combined with grinder dust. 👍
Hey! Sorry about the late reply. On 120v it is 25%duty cycle @ 120 amps and 100% duty at 60 amps. For 240v it has 25% duty cycle @ 200 amps and 100% duty cycle @ 100 amps. Hope this helps! 😊👍
So it has just very limited and basic tig welding settings - what a waste! If it just have all the same settings open for the TIG - it would be no brainer! The fun part that this machine don't even need any parts to be changed as it already have everything to have even double pulse. Sad. Thank you for the good review - now I understand that I don't need this machine, next one probably, with all the settings open for the TIG.
Hi Sergio, yeah, if you want to Tig weld aluminum, then this machine is not for you. They are working on a big multi process welder that will AC/DC Tig and Mig and plasma all in one, but I have no idea when it will be released. 😊👍

If I were in an industrial environment making my living from my welder, I would definitely purchase a Fronius or Miller or Lincoln level welder. 😊👍
Surprised that you would weld that 1/4" mild steel with short arc when that machine does pulse spray. 1/4" is the absolute ceiling for short arc and most structural shops would either spray that or inner shield. If you get a bottle of c10 that machine would shine in that application- its literaly what its made for. Nice video nonetheless.

Yes, it is better especially if you want to weld aluminum because it has pulse welding capabilities making it much more versatile. 😊👍

Is this real lift start or is it scratch start?
Yes, it is definitely real lift. You touch the workpiece and nothing happens until you lift up slightly and the arc begins. 😊👍

What amp circuit are you running it off of? I need to install a 240v outlet in my garage for this.

80/20? What about 75/25. Just seems strange not to offer the most common mig gas as an option.
Yes, I know. But really it makes no difference as far as performance. I just use the one closest to what I have.👍
