(Review) Dehancer is a software film emulator giving digital footage an analogue look with the help of different tools for separate attributes like color grading, grain and halation. It works in Davinci, Final Cut and Premire Pro. These were my initial thoughts using it.
I haven't been uploading much lately as I've been out doing camera-stuff, but I haven't at all forgotten about you guys and I love making youtube videos!
Hope you enjoy the video and feel free to ask any questions in the comments.
Have a great weekend!

Thanks man
I think your video will finally make me get the plugin.
Nice one! 📽
Nicely explained.
Wow, that looks nice! Awesome footage!
Dehancer really simplifies the process and having 5-10 nodes in one is nice too. But a bit pricey though.
Thanks mate! Yeah very cool piece of software. They made something that will emulate these effects as close as possible. I can totally see how people doing this for a living invest in it.
wow wonderful video
Thank you!
OMG! I have to buy ti now
awesome
Thanks for the video! Used your code to buy Dehancer last night.
Awesome! Thank you!
incredible footage. What do you think about your helios lens? Is it your favourite lens for bmpcc4k?
Thank you! Indeed a great Lens for the pocket4k, it's cool for being so sharp while having alot of character. Tip check out the Fujian 35mm
Hi, I have a question regarding my camera, Panasonic HC-V180. What setting do i have to choose in Dehancer? Source, Camera, Vendor, Format? I cant find information on the internet about it.
The Panasonic cameras they support now are the GH5, GH5S, S5ii.
Nice video and beautiful shots in it! Dehancer is a very good film emulation plugin.
I’m curious about what is the title of the music at 1:17?
Thank you! I agree its a great tool. Song is J Scott Rakozy A Mother's Love (Instrumental) from Audiio.
Thank you very much! And which film type did you use at 1:46?
i like it but too expensive for me
as i dont use it for anything but myself
Dehancer Pro is just so slow! - Even on the M3 Max, it cannot play smoothly without first pre-rendering, that's my biggest gripe with it. Is there anything better optimised? - I don't really care about "film emulation" as such, I just want a tool for simple colour grading :)
It works for me as long as I don't switch on all effects at the same time. I usually edit halation and filmbreath separately or in stills and then turn them on before rendering. I use filmconvert in some of my videos when I want something simple. You can also come a long way just using Davinci Resolve :)
@@AdrianvandenBroeck Even without most of the effects, just the camera LUT and Print (exposure), it still won't play smoothly on an M3 Max without rendering :( - I'll have at filmconvert. I'm on Final Cut, maybe the plugin is not well optimised for it.
@@DigiDriftZone Interesting. Maybe have a look at the file-format you are shooting in, less compressed formats usually playback more smoothly.
@@AdrianvandenBroeck I'll try, but it plays smoothly with other plugins and filters/effects, it's just when I enable Dehancer Pro that it starts skipping and dropping frames :(
@@DigiDriftZone Good thing that they have a trial so that you can try it before purchase 😊
insane price tho
If they make an indie price point, then sure. But until then, almost 700 Canadian is insanity.
I mean you have many of these tools available through other plugins and built-in plugins of the different video editors where you can get indie results. What they aimed for with Dehancer is a all in one tool where the value lies in being as "photo-realistic" as possible, meaning they studied the effects/films for years and replicate them as close as possible. So what you pay for is that, a high end emulator. It's not necessarily built for indie. That's my impression after trying and reading. :)
