I wish to see the colours mixing, it’s the most important lesson out of all! Beautiful 🥰

You speak so well…I’m surprised about the intellectualism that goes in to your work. I never really take a “approach”. The work, the piece generally takes over that part on its own. It’s only later certain things jump out at me. That said…I love your commentary. And it’s food for thought. Bravo.

I agree, Rembrandt is very different from other painters. Even his tiny drawings are quite unique in style. But what do you think about Odd Nerdrum coming close to Rembrandt’s style, though still different?

My guess is that - any painter that have enough talent (whatever that is) and will to develop his skill to become "as good as Rembrant", will find himself along the way and be better of. Nobody who could possibly reach this goal will actually reach it because deviating from this path at some point is more attractive and makes more sense.

nobody should be trying to paint like anyone else in my opinion. nobody can paint like rembrant, the same way rembrant can't paint like anyone else. if u spend ur whole life trying to chase someone else's art, you're gonna just end up missing out on your own talents. there's things that people can do today that rembrant couldn't do, the same way rembrant did things that nobody else has ever been able to do. be your own artist, you're never gonna be someone else

I prefer your paintings to Rembrandt. He was great, but his charm has worn off for me over time. I loved him and was very inspired by him in my youth. I think everyone feels that way.
