      Hello!
      I think you’ll be best to get a ukulele capo. They are designed to fit the neck and strings of the ukulele. Having said this, either work.
      Just make sure you get yourself a good quality capo. Either ask your local music store or stick to a capo with good reviews. I have a Mahalo ukulele capo. Mahalo are generally make fairly cheap ukuleles, but their capo is good.
      What you do not want is a cheap, plastic, flimsy capo.
      I hope this helps. ☺️

    If I feel more confortable singing with the capo on the second space.does that mean my key is ”E"? Is the first space "g"? I dont understand anything.Do you have any vídeos explaining a litle about it?

      I have got a video explaining the musical alphabet, which would help. However I haven’t yet made one on understanding key signatures.
      This is a great question though.
      The key you’re originally playing in gets shifted two half steps or semitones (this means two steps in your musical alphabet including sharps or flats - see mentioned video).
      So it depends entirely on which chords you are playing. If you’re playing C, G, Am, F then you’re playing in the key of C, because all of those chords belong in that key. If you know scales this can help you understand chords that belong in a key. The circle of fifths is also a great way of learning this.
      So if you’re playing in the key of C and then move those shapes and capo up 2 frets you’re then playing in the key of D, because after C comes C# and then D.
      My apologies that this is very tricky to explain in text. You’ve inspired me for a future video though!

      The second fret is the key of D.
      Each fret is a half- step along the musical alphabet.

    Little confused. If I shift the capo to 2nd fret and play C shape chords is it in the key of D. so if I want to continue playing in a higher pitch of C what fret or chords ought I use? Complicated issue. I can't find a capo chord sheet

    • @YouandBreeMusicTutorials
      @YouandBreeMusicTutorials  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Michelle,
      When you say higher pitch of C, do you mean C in the next octave? If this doesn’t make sense then I have a video called ‘what is an octave’. Or just a little higher?
      When you change the pitch of a note, it changes the sound and therefor the note name.
      So yes, if you move to capo 2 playing a song in the key of C, it is now in the key of D. But you can play your music and think of it just the same as you are playing in the key of C, just relative to your capo.
      You don’t need a capo sheet. Best thing to do here is to not even think about the key. So if you want to play a C with a capo. Imagine the capo is the nut and now just play C three frets up on the A string. Same goes for all the other chords.
      I hope this helps. It’s a little tricky to explain in text.

    Does capo 1 for example on guitar also apply to capo 1 on ukulele or do I have to put the capo somewhere else?

    • @YouandBreeMusicTutorials
      @YouandBreeMusicTutorials  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good question.
      Short answer - Yes.
      Longer answer- Yes. If you are reading a chord chart for guitar and it says capo 1, and then has the chords as Am F C G (for example). You would put your capo on the first fret of your ukulele and play these chords relative to the capo.
      This is because no matter what instrument you are playing the chord is the same, it is just the way we play it that is different.
      So a capo on fret one changes the Am to an A#m no matter if you’re on guitar or ukulele.
      If you were on keyboard, you’d press your transpose +1 button. ☺️

    • @YouandBreeMusicTutorials
      @YouandBreeMusicTutorials  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, but make sure you tune it without the capo first. Then put your capo on and fine tune.
      If you do this, don’t forget to retune once you take it off if you are playing multiple songs. ☺️

    I’m unable to play a few chords clearly using a guitar capo. It’s quite uncomfortable coz the fret size is small. Chords like D doesn’t sound as clear. I have a concert uke. Any tips?

    • @YouandBreeMusicTutorials
      @YouandBreeMusicTutorials  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it the strings that you are holding down that aren’t clear or the open string/s? Sometimes the positioning of the capo makes a difference.
      It can be a little awkward to play with a capo, as there isn’t as much room to pivot fingers to play chords like D. You could try alternative ways of playing D if that helps.
      You might find a ukulele capo helps. They are significantly smaller so they give a little more room for movement.
      I hope this helps.
