After 21 years of my life in that a prison behind drugs and alcohol I now have 14 years clean. It’s over April 2, 2010 is my sobriety date and I love working with others to help them do the same congrats Garrett.
Damn bro I wish I could say that. I started weed n booze at 13 in 8th grade. Next yr freshman year, in 1998 I did acid, coke, Vicodin n Darvocet n benzos, meth and I started stealing mad dog 20/20 and 40 proof vodka n long Island bottles like 5 n 6 days a week. When Oxy hit in like 01 I jumped on that train at 16. Followed by 15 yrs of craziness made 3 kids with THREE DIFFERENT WOMEN in my 20s and I turned 30 in rehab. Was totally clean for 5 years. Then I got a surgery.......told myself I was good to take all them personally. Dude I swear that today's 5mg percs the round white flat scored "512" percs I swear they're different than 20 yrs ago dude. And 2 months later I got dopesick for the first time ever. My dad gave me a line of fentanyl I didn't know it was fent him n my uncles didn't tell me. I've been pretty much daily using fent for like 5 yrs. When I get off it woth Subs for a week or two, I always end up back on dope. I now have a 1 yr old grandson and I've never met him cuz my daughter won't let me meet him. She just turned 20. I hate myself so much. Idk why I haven't just offed myself. I need fkkn help yo. Bad.

This podcast has grown on me. Earlier on I felt like the host didn't do a good job listening or letting the guest tell their story... But he seems to be getting more comfortable now, and is allowing the guests room to pause And think without jumping in right away and interrupting them.

Great he got clean. I've been clean since January 2009. You don't need rehab or rock bottom either. I just decided i was done one day and quit. Forcing people into rehabs have literally a 98% failure rate.
Yeah, I hit LA county jail for eight months and got clean in there long enough to start thinking straight. Voluntarily entered a recovery home called the Dream Center immediately after release, Stayed there two years. Been clean ever since, but it was voluntary, And I’d never go to AA or NA to sit there in one of those circles and talk about it every week.

Turning into a racist is because you're in California prison is a special kind of stupidity. No one else is that dumb in America. It ensures that you have no life when you get out.
It's more the level of organization, people look at the racial politics and extreme violence and when someone first lands and witnesses a lot of the in house clean up, dps, removals, let alone if it really cracks of into a full on race riot. People think about making a stupid choice to PC up. The racial politics definitely protects the weaker more vulnerable people. It another states prison you would get victimized and tore up by the sharks. I remind guys the fact they get their time on the phone to tslk to family, that no one is going to physically steal all your commissary and property. That you have the same respect as every other man coming the minute u land in a yard provided your paper work is good and you haven't done something to f**k it off already. At least with the wood pile. If you feel disrespected you have the right to request a head up fade, you don't have to be packed out. Really from my understanding of the SUR/Southside program, the program Is pretty strict for good reason and ideally violence is a last resort often used to prevent a much larger violent incident. The tip I give to someone going in is aways show the next man respect, be calm and confident and respect the next man's space, his program. Never let your emotions run away with you. Patience and humility are not the same as being weak or a coward. Emotions conflict with intelligence & common sense. Don't allow yourself to be baited into a mistake, often time there are psychological chess games at hand, dint unwittingly become a pawn. Also I'd you feel seriously disrespected you the right as a man to handle that. Listen as much as possible, talk to a minimum, that means your case, about things you've seen or heard involving other people unless it poses an immediate threat to your car. Don't get into debt ever. No fronts. If you can't seem to stay away from gambling n drugs. Quickest way for things to get really bad for you really quick. Find a level headed person who 8s an exemplar of someone with a good program, disciplined, clean, respectful, exercising his mind body and spirit. Someone who will generally de escalate situations but is firm and unyielding when discipline is necessary. It's man's world , people act like kids get hot heads get the whole car in a wreck f**k off everyone of their brothers dates to go home n be fathers , sons n husbands. Forced their brothers to suffer bleed and even lose their wind over their lack of self control. Thats why rules are do strict and punishments severe. Make a point to foster a culture that build uo your people. If there's one Cookie and you and 6 other guys. Right thing to do is to break it 7 ways. Always w Eat together, struggle and strive together and celebrate good times together. These are he men who will save your life and protect you from being victimized. The rep should ever be a bully, he will actually sacrifice and need much patience and clarity and walk the true path kf a warrior. Support him and the whole car by exercising as hard you can, keeping everything clan n neat, always make sure nobody is going hungry o left in the outside of the group (if he's gp and he's good). Support s and encourage those around you but be a listener first, speak minimally, If you show respect n run a good program usually you start to get respect from all races n you realize we all our closer than we think, we all are suffering going through it. If the ti.r come anybody touched your people you without hesitation fight back to back with that man with everything you got. Hopefully if you stick to the script it may ot even happen. Don't forget the men who died in ca prison or went to shu for decades and sacrificed their lives so that today you can walk in and be afforded a level of respect and we all can enjoy a higher quality of living. We had homies in the trailer park who were Cali transplants from Cali who kicked game to us in the late 90s. Just found out a guy that my brother was good friends with, he came from a good family, went to the best private schools! Well he got a habit and ended up in jail! He came out with swasis all over him when he got out! He didn't even make it a year out and overdosed and died

Great he got clean. I've been clean since January 2009. You don't need rehab or rock bottom either. I just decided i was done one day and quit. Forcing people into rehabs have literally a 98% failure rate.

Tattoos are just a way for COs to categorize someone as an STG nowadays. A lot of convicts aren’t getting them in places where they can be easily seen. Plus, they can be used as a form of punishment for F’ing up. The guy with the most outlandish tattoos all over his body (including eyelids, whole face, etc.) is usually that particular groups b*tch. Turning into a racist is because you're in California prison is a special kind of stupidity. No one else is that dumb in America. It ensures that you have no life when you get out.
It's more the level of organization, people look at the racial politics and extreme violence and when someone first lands and witnesses a lot of the in house clean up, dps, removals, let alone if it really cracks of into a full on race riot. People think about making a stupid choice to PC up. The racial politics definitely protects the weaker more vulnerable people. It another states prison you would get victimized and tore up by the sharks. I remind guys the fact they get their time on the phone to tslk to family, that no one is going to physically steal all your commissary and property. That you have the same respect as every other man coming the minute u land in a yard provided your paper work is good and you haven't done something to f**k it off already. At least with the wood pile. If you feel disrespected you have the right to request a head up fade, you don't have to be packed out. Really from my understanding of the SUR/Southside program, the program Is pretty strict for good reason and ideally violence is a last resort often used to prevent a much larger violent incident. The tip I give to someone going in is aways show the next man respect, be calm and confident and respect the next man's space, his program. Never let your emotions run away with you. Patience and humility are not the same as being weak or a coward. Emotions conflict with intelligence & common sense. Don't allow yourself to be baited into a mistake, often time there are psychological chess games at hand, dint unwittingly become a pawn. Also I'd you feel seriously disrespected you the right as a man to handle that. Listen as much as possible, talk to a minimum, that means your case, about things you've seen or heard involving other people unless it poses an immediate threat to your car. Don't get into debt ever. No fronts. If you can't seem to stay away from gambling n drugs. Quickest way for things to get really bad for you really quick. Find a level headed person who 8s an exemplar of someone with a good program, disciplined, clean, respectful, exercising his mind body and spirit. Someone who will generally de escalate situations but is firm and unyielding when discipline is necessary. It's man's world , people act like kids get hot heads get the whole car in a wreck f**k off everyone of their brothers dates to go home n be fathers , sons n husbands. Forced their brothers to suffer bleed and even lose their wind over their lack of self control. Thats why rules are do strict and punishments severe. Make a point to foster a culture that build uo your people. If there's one Cookie and you and 6 other guys. Right thing to do is to break it 7 ways. Always w
Eat together, struggle and strive together and celebrate good times together. These are he men who will save your life and protect you from being victimized. We had homies in the trailer park who were Cali transplants from Cali who kicked game to us in the late 90s. I’ve since gone clean and run a successful business but i attribute my drive and hustle mentality to my Uncles and Cousins kickin game. I’d never show that life to my kids but I relate entirely to this lifestyle. It’s almost sad.
