I love bug types… I was actually using a full bug team in Violet for a while…. Lokix is easily my favorite new Pokémon and Masquerain is a handy Pokémon lol
You forget that Leavanny, as a friendship evo, can get a lot out of Return. I don't do competitive, but I ran a max speed Leavanny with Swords Dance, Return, X Scissor, and Leaf Blade in a nuzlocke with great success
Crustle is amazing. I used it in my very first White run through and ran Rock Slide, Bug Bite, Stealth Rock, and Shell Smash. It came in clutch during the Ghetis fight to destroy Hydreigen. Much love to the rock bug 🤜🤛.

@@TheMasterBlaze I wish they were like Mantyke: have both in your party to evolve one by level-up. Sure, you’ll have to catch a second Shelmet or Karrablast (depending on which one you evolved first), but it’s way better than trading.
I find the bug rock type to be underrated. Most of the pokemon who have this type (armoldo included) can run moves other than bug rock and normal to help patch itself up against stronger pokemon that have steel or fairy types. Shuckle is a staller first and formost, but if you can set it up with trick room and power trick, it can do a lot more. It's just getting that set up is super hard to do
As an avid lover of the bug type. Leavanny is actually onenof my favorites. It's so precious honestly. I made mine a normal Tera type too. That way its neutral to everything bug/grass is weak to. Woth thr Swords dance boosted Tera giga impact its great. And I actually used orbeetle in my competative bug type gym team I used to do on my discord server. Give it light clay with both screens, sticky web and U Turn to pivot its a great support mon. I also think rabsca should be mentioned too. With revival blessing, psychic, and bug buzz its crazy. Frosmoth is still my favorite of the bugs though.
we still need a bug ghost that isnt Shedninja in the game, Bug normal, a legendary bug, a bug dragon. There are alot of bugs that could use a third stage evolution or an evolution in general. Bug types get over looked But yet I love them. Easily my Fav type.

Outside of what was mentioned here, I think the likes of Ariados, Galvantula, Araquanid, and Spidops are definitely underrated (Yes, the spider pokemons!). Though for me, the mons that got me interested in the first place are Scizor and Kleavor, and I can't believe how awesome the Scyther evos are! Also, the animations of Lokix sold me as well.

Bro, Unova showed that bug pokes are amazing! All gen 5 bugs has interesting design, it was the first time where a lengendary/mythical/special poke of that type was introduced (Genesect). The concept of the relation between Escavalier and Accelgor for evolution by trade. Leavanny, Scolipede and Galavantula look awesome. Last, of course, it's Volcarona, one or possibly the best bug poke for the fans and competitive (many people thought it was a legendary)
During the Teal Mask, I found a new appreciation for Leavanny. Mine had the rock tera type. Tera Blast, Fell Stinger, Leaf Blade and Swords Dance. Sure it's no pseudo, but man can that bug sweep with the right setup.
I will never forgive Gamefreak for introducing the absolute beast that is Vikavolt and making it look similar to Ninjask and Yanmega only for it to be horrendously slow, but at the same time it would've been broken if they hadn't
Good old Alola Syndrome for you. Lots of new Pokémon are very strong, but very slow because they’re so laid back from living in a tropical paradise. 😊😅
A recent let's play with a Crustle on the team has put the on my eye for a bit and as someone who's used a Crustle in White with it being the MVP, it's good stuff
My favorite is galvantula good speed and special attack and it can learn thunder and rain dance while having the ability compound eyes the only worry is rock and water cause fire would be neutral with rain and both water and rock can die to either gigadrain or energy ball definitely my favorite non meta bug type
I've realized slowly over the years that even though the mankey line has always been my favorite. I've always had a bug pokemon within my top 10 through every generation.

Exactly! It won’t win every battle (and since you’re playing a Nuzlocke, you have to be extra careful), but it does great when it does win.

I now love sewaddle. It was my first pokemon in the new teal mask dlc and I caught it in a love ball. Leavanny absolutely is friend shaped 🥺
To this day I'm impressed how Generation 5 managed to make only bangers for Bug Pokemon. There is not a bad bug mon in the roster from Unova.

I have been replaying bw2 and as my last team member picked up crustle and so far sturdy shell smash is sweeping it’s so good
If Pokemon did away with 4x resistance and 4x weakness being stacked for dual types, a number of dual type bugs would be more playable.
I played with Bugs only in W2, and used one in Moon and Shield. The new one. It is such a good pokemon. Bug and Psychic. Tank and High Special Attack.
I used Leavanny on my Black team, oer your Samurott team video, so can confirm, it is really good, especially with how much it can outspeed.
I.used Armaldo and it's really strong when used right. Cradily is a bit slow but not bad.
Bug type is one of my favorite types and Leavanny is one of my favorite Pokémon of all time. 100% friend shaped.
