Hi Ariele. Those profile decorations on your cover of Middlemarch are called cameos. They are often seen as jewelry in the form of a brooch or as a pendant on a necklace. The Chiltern Classics are very special indeed. Love them, but the text CAN be too small for some people to read. As someone already noted, those edges on your Steinbeck Centennial Editions are called deckled edges, and the flaps on those editions are called French flaps. I'm a big fan of French flaps (classy!) and I also love deckled edges. Many people do NOT. Please don't feel bad about not having read most of your classics. You have your whole life ahead of you to read these books, and, when you do, you will love (most of) them. They are called classics for a reason.
God, I sound like some kind of know-it-all teacher or something. I don't mean to be.

Cool! You have a gorgeous collection. I'm like you regarding Jane Austen where I want to collect all her books in my various favorite editions like the Everyman's Library and the Season's edition (which revamped and did a Jane Austen Collection with the Season's design this year) - even if I haven't read all of them yet.

I’d never seen the everymans library until your comment and looked it up and… obsessed!

@@arielereads7010 Thanks:) If you decide to get them, there are both a UK and US edition and the UK one is usually much cheaper. Wish you all the best with growing your collection!

I recently discovered the Pan MacMillan Collection and have become a tiny bit obsessed with them-not physically, I don't currently collect books. I just love the size of their editions. Although I'm more so a paperback reader, I do enjoy a small hardcover

I feel the same way! I think I prefer paperback in most forms but am fine with YA in hardcover since they’re smaller. The Pan MacMillan collection is gorgeous!!
