Thanks so much for that, appreciate you taking time to check it out!
Wild Bill!! Timing and bird body language. You bet. And for sure most people on public land overuse their hen calls. One thing y'all didn't touch on is using drake calls. We get a lot of widgeon and gads on Lake Fork and Cooper, and I usually have those species in my spread and use a mix of gad, widgeon and mallard drakes with a whistle, even greenwings when we see them. Mixing that in with hen and maybe another guy on hen...music to their ears.
My man! Appreciate that Adam, great input! miss your pretty face brother, hope you’re doing great!
Can you do a duck calling tip for open water and a calling tip for when it's raining.
Do you think there should be a difference in calling based on weather?
Super excited for youth day here in DE on sunday. Have you guys ever hunted DE?
Have not but hope you guys have the best season ever!
@thefowlhunter nothing to write home about, but we do got them black ducks!
I believe it is both how you blow the call, and when you blow the call. The call is the most important tool you take too the field. You could be the best shot in the world. Shooting the best ammo, with the best decoy spread in the area, and still fail too kill birds. All because of your calling presentation. You have to sound like a duck, but call based on your surroundings AKA available cover, hunting pressure, and decoy spread. A word champion caller can impress my ears way more than a mallard ducks in the wrong setting.
Thanks for the feedback!
