The people who drafted Fields were idiots. Everyone needs to know that it was a different GM and coaching staff. This is NOT the same Bears staff that made all those mistakes in the past. So people need to stop bringing up past mistakes and bringing it up with the current Bears team.
Edit: let me explain what i mean by the ppl who drafted fields being an idiot. Fields was actually a good value pick at that spot. I dont blame a GM for taking him there. Remember, the 49ers gave up the world to get trey lance in the same draft. BUT ryan pace already rolled the dice and paid a big price to draft trubisky so he shouldn’t have been allowed to draft another QB so soon. Pace got together a playoff team quick but at the expense of the future. A future that ryan poles now had to fix. Pace had huge draft busts and over drafted others. I think his ONLY real good picks was roquan smith and eddie jackson. For pace to draft another QB instead of building around trubisky was atrocious!
Don't correct these casuals, allow them to be imbecilic.

Well, that & trade Caleb Williams The First for at best a 4th-rounder. Shall I explain? Caleb is being touted based 100% on how good he looks in college, right? Yet when looked at side by side, Caleb can't do a single thing Fields can't also do while Fields th-cam.com/video/5JO1PsupF_U/w-d-xo.html is not only a better rusher, he's Far More Accurate than Caleb is. It's not even close.
Caleb is Fields Lite if anything.
Go ahead, count 'em. Count how many times where even if the pass is caught, had it been placed better the receiver may not have been tackled right away *A_ND_ also count* the complete misses where the ball was so off-target or floated so high the only reason the defense doesn't make a play the only reason has to be the coverage was so badly blown that they gave up.
Fields throws *2 such passes.*

How tf are the people who called plays that Fields couldn't work gonna learn to call plays that Caleb can? & Matt Eberflus has bragged about meddling in the offense which is why for two years people asked *him* & not Luke Getsy about the problems it has. So the guy calling the plays that failed with Fields is still on the team whereas Getsy, the guy who engineered the 5-game increased offensive streak in '23 & the 3-game one in '22, proving that with good play-calling fields could score points before they even acquired D.J. Moore was fired by this inept douche who brags about calling losing plays.
Fields called out the play-calling publicly, twice & not one person on the team responded. That was a clear sign they didn't even have the character to tell him to his face they were done with him while making it clear to everyone they were. Remember when Mac Jones was caught seeking help outside the Pats how Bellichick responded?
Now imagine Bellichick _not_ responding. Yeah, we'd all know Jones was about to be traded. As with most teams, the new coach & GM want to oust all the Old Guard. Those streaks of improved offense were both mid-season, both made the offense more effective.
& Eberflus cancelled those plays *twice.* Remember this when the same plays start effing up Caleb (if they do) &/or the team somehow still manages to lose games because the roster isn't that deep & that 4th-rounder just isn't enough to fix the o-line. Fields has more talent than Williams.
& they traded him away for next to nothing.

I really think it’s going to be Cole Kmet breaking out this year. So much focus is going to be on the 3 star WRs. Also, look at all the great TEs (LaPorta is the outlier) all their breakout year come after 25yo, plus being in a Waldron offense, he’s primed and ready to show out! 🐻⬇️

Well, the thing that hurts the bears is that the division can score. Every team can hold its own. Those divisional teams can also get after the qb.
It's crazy to expect a gm to get every move right, there's going to be mistakes. And Ryan poles has made a few like the claypool trade and getting rid of roquan, but in his mistakes I think he reflects on them to make future good decisions which is really impressive specifically for the bears.

@@shake6321Agreed. Trading Roquan was NOT a mistake, it was a great pivot . The Bears traded him for 2 picks, which turned out to be Gervon Dexter and Noah Sewell. Gervon Dexter will most likely be the starting 3-tech during the 2024 season and had a pretty decent rookie season. They also signed Edmunds and Edwards for the same amount the Ravens paid Roquan. Look at Edwards' stats compared to Roquan's and tell me they are different enough to justify the difference in pay. It's hard to do.

@@shake6321I don't think passing on carter was a mistake either, darnell Wright is a stud and Carter disappeared in the 2nd half of last season and has character issues. Dexter was arguably just as good if not better than him after the sweat trade.

@@vic748 You're definitely right about the play calling, Waldron was not doing the job. The defense is...ok. They still managed the absolute trash Tennessee offense to score two touchdowns and pass all over them. But they were good enough to capitalize on the stupidity of Will Levis.

Well, this aged about as horribly as it could have. Week 1 against the Titans and the Bears offensive produces...zero points. No touchdowns, under 100 yards passing, below 50% completion rate, and the game was won on 24 unanswered second half points from defense and special teams.

@@KrichProductions Yeah, a win is a win, you're right. And it's not like the Bears are strangers to wins in this fashion. They won the NFC North on this kind of play a few years back. They even went all the way to the Super Bowl doing this kind of thing when they had mf Rex Grossman as their quarterback and a very chaotic and unreliable offense that made more mistakes than it did score points. If any team in the NFL can play this weird and unorthodox but succeed, it's these guys.

"Oh we drafted Justin Fields, watch out!" and then "Oh JF1 year 2 and new coach and front office, were' taking the North and never letting go!" and then "Oh we're so improved, Fields will be MVP!" and finally we're full circle "Oh we drafted Caleb Williams, watch out!" How is the Bears o-line though?
If Caleb Williams can become even half of what Dak is today, the Bears should be a successful team. He is definitely capable of having a lot of success, but it’s hard to fully believe in a guy who paints his nails to lead your team to the Super Bowl.
I don't think he's comparable much to Dak, he's a mixture of Kyler Murray, Patrick Mahomes, and Aaron Rodgers.

This really is some of the silliest shit I've heard in a while. A mediocre quarterback throwing to mostly scrub receivers with one exception in DJ Moore. Admittedly Herbert is looking like a good running back but that's about it. This is a below average offense without a doubt.
